The property has been in their family for four generations since the 1930s and was originally a tobacco farm. Really cool to see them preserving their property and family history and keeping NC agriculture thriving. Our tour included a behind the scenes look at the cellar where the magic happens and it was so cool to listen to what the process is like. His wife does all the graphics and designs and they are lovely. Just a really special family centered place. We are not big wine people actually but our favorite was the bottle rocket which was bubbly and citrusy. The atmosphere here is out of this world just such a beautiful view. We came here as our first stop on my bachelorette vineyard tour. We were warmly welcome by the staff and (I believe) one of the owners. Inside, they had a bunch of art lining the walls which I found charming. We got a large table for our group of 10 on the outdoor patio. We were able to sit under the umbrellas for those who did not want sun. We were given three wines to try and cheese boards. Our group adored the cheese boards. We loved all the local goodies that were included in them. We enjoyed the wines we had. I'm blanking on the names, but one of my friends really liked the wine that had their dog on the logo. The drive is scenic along some winding roads with great views. The tasting room itself is near the top of a hill with great views of the surrounding vineyard and hills. When you enter you'll be greeted and offered a few different tasting options. You can essentially select your own from the offerings, including ciders. We both picked our wines, mine more white wine based and SCW went more for the reds. After a brief wait we were served. I didn't really enjoy the glassware that the wines are served in because they don't lend well to oxygen getting into the wine. I think this really detracts from the experience. Once we were about halfway into a tasting of wine then you could actually smell it much better. The wines themselves for me were hit and miss. The reserves were a bit better for me, but we didn't leave with any bottles. The tasting room is very nice, large, and has great views from any seat.
