My husband and I were on vacation in Asheville, so I did some searching online for nearby wineries. That's how we discovered Marked Tree Vineyard. After just one visit, this already one of my absolute favorites. The grounds are so stunning they completely take your breath away! It's also kind of fun how they do tastings. Rather than standing at a bar, you are seated at a table where a friendly and knowledgeable staff member describes each selection then serves you each pour. And even on a super-busy Saturday, service is quite fast. We especially appreciated how our server graciously took our picture before we left. Not only that, but she recommended the best places to take our photo! But let's not forget to mention the wines. Marked Tree Vineyard has a nice selection of dry, semi-dry, and sweet wines to suit every palate. It was difficult not to come home with a bottle of everything. I highly recommend Marked Tree Vineyard to everyone! I personally cannot wait to return.
Visited Marked Tree on a Friday afternoon with a party of 8. We were seated quickly and given options to choose our table. Our server was very knowledgeable about the food menu and wine selection. She even adapted the tasting to accommodate a group member who didn't care for red wine. There's fresh food on the menu, but I was surprised at the lack of labeling for gluten free/vegan. For the food that we did get, the caramelized hummus was good and the charcuterie plate was aesthetic, but it had a lot of filler garnishes and not a lot of cheese variety. We loved the view, but there was a lot of construction going on for the addition of their sister building.
We went here on a whim because it was a mostly rainy day. We both did the sweet wine tasting and split a half cheese plate. The atmosphere is casual yet upscale. We enjoyed trying the various wines, and we found the cheddar to be super high quality. The other cheeses were good but didn't stand out as much. Dried cherries, figs, pretzels, and crackers were tasty. Our favorite wine was the hummingbird. We bought that and one other bottle (Otto) to take home. I do agree with other reviewers it would be nice to offer a wine flight or custom tasting so return customers can try more variety before buying larger quantities. The views are spectacular!
When I first visited Marked Tree (maybe when they first opened, I would have given it 5 stars. This is a BEAUTIFUL property and establishment. I absolutely love the 'marked tree' story behind the name. And I love most of their wines. During this visit, I chose to do a tasting (like I had done before) to see if there was anything new and to refresh my pallet. However, the tasting was 'pre-selected' and all but one of the wines I would not have chosen. We were asked to sit in a space for 2 so as not to take up spaces for bigger parties (this felt a bit off-putting). It took a minimum of 45 minutes to taste a few wines because we had to wait for someone to come around to where we were sitting to give us our next tasting. Had we been able to choose our own tasting (and taste more efficiently), we would have purchased a glass...or three...of the wines that we loved. Still a great place, but just didn't have the same feel for us as it did the first time we visited.
I first discovered MT the year they opened. With their beautiful views, fun architecture, and ghost house the location enough is a reason to visit. Their wines are the cherry on the cake. For an elevated wine tasting and knowledgeable servers you can't go wrong with marked tree. Perfect date night location as well as for group outings.
Lovely service and view. Great time to visit, even late December. Would return if I lived in the area. Would have ordered food if I arrived earlier.

Hubby and I both decided to try multiples with the sweet wine tasting and ended up with the Otto. We also ordered a half charcuterie board which had a very nice balance of cheese and meats. The grapes on the vine were beautiful. I can see myself coming back to watch sunsets and eat charcuterie while enjoying the various wines they have available.
Beautiful place. I had an excellent experience visiting this place. People and their wines are exquisite. Highly recommended. Definitely makes Hendersonville proud. The only thing is there was not enough food selection. There was one food truck and the actual winery offer charcuterie which I find stinge. Although not a deal breaker because the selection on it is decent. I just will they offer more food.
Another day of gallivanting and my road buddy suggested we stop by here. Then we realized it was time for an evening meal so we tried some of the tapas. Great decision. Smoked trout, great dips and cheeses and wine-wonderful wines. David was our server, personable and knowledgeable. All in all a very nice experience with beautiful views.
Can't argue with the Yelp ranking of Marked Tree. This is a really cool (and busy) winery with great, secluded views, terrific wine, and awesome snack options. I absolutely loved the reds either a single varietal or blend of lemberger, petit Verdot, and cab franc), but the whites (especially the bone dry Vidal Blanc) were good as well. Fire pits and a 360 view make for a perfect afternoon!
I was super excited to try this new winery that a friend told me about when we traveled through. Don't get me wrong, this winery is beautiful! The decor and overall appearance of this winery is top notch! When we arrived, we were asked if we had reservations. We did not, I did not even know what was an option. They told us we could sit outside, but its was windy and COLD. We opted to wait for a table. We were seated not long after inside. The winery was hopping! I don't think the staff was prepared. The waiter we had seemed rushed and went through the tasting menu quickly and that was that. The floor to ceiling windows in the winery are a nice touch to view the mountains overlooking. We felt rushed so we opted to grab a few bottles to go and leave. I really wanted to love this place. We left a little shocked from the service we received. They had only been open a few weekends when we went, so I am would like to give it a try again next time we are up there. We will look into the reservation thing for sure. I would like to go in the Spring so we can enjoy the outdoors.
Beautiful winery in Flat Rock area about 40min from Asheville. We lucked out and had the the whole vineyard to ourselves on a cold day. We brought our pup and had to taste outside but there were fire pits and outside heaters placed all around their property. The facility is sleek and and industrial and I believe one of the owners is a architect so he he did an amazing job. The wines are unique to the area and well thought out to the region and the terrain. Nice selection of well known varietals and ones that you might not be aware of. Overall a delicious tasting w/ a comprehensive education and background of the vineyard. The views are breathtaking and represent the NC region well.

This vineyard is absolutely gorgeous! If you're looking for a winery while in the Asheville area, I highly recommend visiting Marked Tree Vineyard. It is both intimate and beautiful. We came here as our first stop on my bachelorette vineyard tour. We were warmly welcome by the staff and (I believe) one of the owners. Inside, they had a bunch of art lining the walls which I found charming. We got a large table for our group of 10 on the outdoor patio. We were able to sit under the umbrellas for those who did not want sun. We were given three wines to try and cheese boards. Our group adored the cheese boards. We loved all the local goodies that were included in them. We enjoyed the wines we had. I'm blanking on the names, but one of my friends really liked the wine that had their dog on the logo. It's a stunning space because of all the greenery, the mountain views, and the vineyards. read more

Beautiful winery with vineyards next to apple orchards and lots of outdoor seating. The service was fantastic. We sat outside under the trees. our Gruner Veltliner white was superb, so we had to buy a bottle. The charcuterie tray was delicious. Highly recommend. read more

Spent a lovely afternoon at Marked Tree Vineyard during our trip to Asheville. There is plenty of seating outside, but it was really windy and cold so we moved inside to enjoy our wine. We originally planned on trying the wine tasting ($15) before selecting a bottle of wine to purchase, but the wines available for the tasting are pre-selected and were mostly white wines on the day we visited so we opted to just take a gamble on a bottle of Cabernet Franc ($32) which we typically really enjoy from other wine makers. We lucked out because the Cab Franc was phenomenal - so much so we tried to order a case but were limited to purchasing two bottles each of this particular wine because the availability was low. We ended up taking a full case with us anyway of a lovely selection. The Lemberger and the Petit Verdot are both also excellent. With our bottle of Cabernet Franc we ordered the full sized Cheese Plate ($26). It was delicious and just what we wanted to have with our wine. We were so sad to leave, and wish we lived closer because we would visit more often. Really friendly staff, delicious wine, awesome cheese plate, amazing vibes, and beautiful views with a ton of space both indoors and outdoors. We will absolutely be back whenever we are even remotely in the area and will always take a case of wine home with us when we go! Definitely go. Just go. It is perfection. read more

Very pleased with our spontaneous decision to check out this winery on our way to Lake Lure, NC! Beautiful winery! Great wine! The owners were lovely as well! Very pet friendly, nice charcuterie options. My husband and I will be back one day. read more

Wonderful views, attentive staff. Wife and I came up here for a wine tasting, which including a chocolate pairing. The server explained each wine before serving it and answered all of our questions. We also ordered the half cheese board with charcuterie. Everything tasted amazing. We came during December, so the vineyard was dormant, but still plenty of Instagram-able opportunities. read more
The wine, the view, the story. These are the things that I loved about this very young winery. Arrive no later than an hour and 15 minutes before closing. This location needs a full hour to offer a tasting. We didn't get to partake in that experience but we enjoyed the wine so we will be back. And that view. They chose this location well. read more

Fantastic wines, excellent service, in a stunning environment! We went to numerous wineries in the area and not a single one could compare to Marked Tree. The vistas are glorious. The wines are exceptional. The chardonel was so bright and fun, the grüner is fresh, the Flat Rock Red was a nice medium bodied red. Don't miss the spot for great wine in a beautiful location! read more
I had a great time visiting this beautiful location. I really enjoyed the breathtaking views of the blue ridge mountains,and the wine vines in the background. The interior is so modern and inviting. We sat on the covered patio which had a great view of the property. I enjoyed the wine tasting. All selections had a very good blend of flavors. Overall a great place for a date or friends weekend. read more

Absolutely a must!!! My friends and I did some Glamping. We stopped at this winery and were blown away. We are from Virginia where we have some of the best wineries around. This one is now in my top 5! It is absolutely beautiful and the service amazing. read more

This vineyard was on the way to our destination and the location is super adorable ! We had an amazing server who gave us the run down and history on the wines that we were given to us on the tasting flight. The view from the top of the mountain is gorgeous and such a romantic spot. The entire tasting room area was clean and taken care of. Definitely recommend stopping here if I'm Hendersonville ( but I recommend after 4/5pm) because the sun was beaming other than that nice experience. read more

Wine is amazing! Just visited the new tasting room in Asheville. It's beautiful! Whether you visit the vineyard in flat rock or the tasting room in Asheville it's a must go! They have amazing wines and the staff is so friendly.also the pimento cheese is the best! read more

Wow oh wow! What a stunning modern property. We are building close by and have been trying all the wineries in the area and decided on a whim to pop into this new winery. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners and there sister. What a stunning job they have done with the space. We decided to do a tasting, 5 1 ounce pours for $15 what a bargain!!! The table all choose different wines, we all likes different ones for different reasons. My personal least favorite was the sweet Rose but the dry rose was delish. I personally liked the reds the best(but I always do). This is will a come again and again and again spot for me. I'm already planning a girls trip in one of the two gorgeous group tables. This is a must try!!! read more
This was our first visit to Marked Tree and we were pleasantly pleased and happy to have been referred by a local merchant to check it out! Beautiful grounds and tasting room. The tasting room was decorated for the holidays and although it was very cold they the outdoor space was ready for visitors with fire pits lit. The view was awesome! My husband doesn't drink wine but they did offer him a beer or cider. I had the Seasonal tasting( I think) a dry flight. It was wonderful. We had a time frame so we could not stay longer but would have enjoyed a glass of wine outside with a cheese plate. Next time! Thank you Halle for your knowledge of the wines and vineyard! We hope to be back in the warmer months! read more
