I've had plenty of delicious pasta and pizza since I've been here, but as far as I know, those foods do not have the same magical healing properties as a big ole bowl of broth, so I chose that for dinner tonight. The food here was very good, surprisingly authentic, and really reasonably priced. Plus they called the Gyoza "Japanese Ravioli" which I think is adorable. The space is a little cramped but that's normal for Europe, they had two rooms so they could probably accommodate a bigger group if you gave them enough notice. Great Ramen and you can't beat the price- check it out if you're in Florence!

The Miso soup is homemade, so it's completely something else compared to the other restaurants. The chef, a true Japanese in love with Florence, is in the open kitchen, showing his art to everyone, making delicious specialties like the frittata and marinated anchovies. Prices are really fair, wine is included in the 15 € menu, together with the soup and a plate of nigiri (sometimes if you get lucky it's mozzarella di bufala's nigiri day, try and see for yourself). If you can, BOOK a table, it's quite always full and the place is as big as a mouse's nest.

When confronted about why he wouldn't seat us, in Japanese, he became uncomfortable and gave us a business card. No business should treat customers this way in 2024.

In Niwa's case they've done a very good job of serving genuine food that correctly represents both Thai and Japanese cuisine. My friends and I ordered a series of dishes in order to sample all that the restaurant had to offer (ranging from pad thai to seared salmon) and discovered that not only were the dishes flavorful but also very filling. Definitely plan on popping in again. On a side note, the restaurant seems to fill up once it hits 9:00PM (or in Italian format 21:00) so make sure to come a little earlier if you don't want to wait.

When you first walk in, you can appreciate the nice decor that reflects the Asian background of this restaurant. The location is walking distance of you are near cascine Park. Bottom line...come here for the Thai it is delicious and you get to soak in Asia with the Asian ambience! Good for those staying near cascine. We ordered agedashi tofu, vegetarian yakisoba, katsudon, spicy tuna handroll (temaki) and a unagi handroll (temaki). The vegetarian yakisoba was very simple, but surprisingly flavorful. The katsu don was very god nonetheless. I would order it again if given the chance. Temaki were a little smaller than I'm used to, but yummy. My only complaint is the slimy sauce and batter for the agedashi tofu caused it to fall apart upon being picked up - spoon is required. I'd come back to this place if I visited Florence again!
