The highlight was the starter, a lobster bisque with an amazing sauce, delicious. Unfortunately our meat in the main course was a bit chewy and the potato rösti were just normal. For dessert was a piece of cake with some fruits that was ok at best. Lunch is 35 Eur for 3 courses which certainly is a good price, but from this type of restaurant I would expect more.

My wife and I were treated by me coworkers for dinner here as a wedding gift. Which, to be fair,…read moremeans two things: 1. I have no idea of bill 2. What we ordered was probably not what I would have ordered myself. But, to put it into perspective, for what it was supposed to be (i.e. treat yourself to something you would not do otherwise), it was the perfect location. The restaurant is in the old part of town and is tucked away in a nice quite alley in a very beautiful house. Upon entering, the inside, was modern, a lot of wood and modern art, not too much, just the right amount of art was displayed and we were surprised how big the restaurant actually is. Whenever we are in Germany, my wife tries not to identified as an American right away, so we were given two German menus. When they realised that she does not speak German, they even had an English menu and proceeded to explain everything in English from there on and it lightened everyone's mood right away (the waiters and the owner's wife, the head of staff, got to practice some of their English and we had a good time). They are a great and friendly team. We ordered the 7 course taster menu with wine pairing. What can I say, I surely do not remember every single dish and wine, but rarely have I eaten so much extraordinary and delicious food. Every dish had a little twist, a little nuance that was different to what you would expect. Every wine, all of them from the region, was paired perfectly. I cannot remember when 4.5 hours passed by so quickly and my wife and I were still flashed by this experience days after it happened. All in all, if you want to treat yourself, your partner or anyone else, you will not go wrong with Wolfshöhle!

My friend ate the thin pizza like tarte with leech and salmon. Ive chosen de fried cod with butter-kartoffeln (potatoes). Both menus are well recommended! MIL had pumpkin soup. She said it was tasty but didn't taste at all like pumpkin was in it. Salads tasted as if they were primarily dressed in vinegar. Overpowering. I had the steak with onions. In general, grossly undercooked and an extremely tough cut of meat. Even the onions on top were undercooked, practically raw. I regret not sending it back but, initially, because of the lighting I could not visually determine the doneness of the meat. Was half way through before I could confirm, so gave up. Several of our diners liked their meals, so it wasn't a complete loss. In general, the portions were generous. Prices were moderate. The steak was not cheap and expected a better cut of meat for the price. The high point of the meal was the friendly service. That said, no one ever came back to check on the meal after it was served. I know this is somewhat rare with European-style 'unobtrusive' service, but it would've been nice to help resolve the problem earlier when something could be done to resolve the situation. The decor was decent, but a large dramatic portrait of the chef (and I'm assuming owner) dominates the front of the restaurant. To me, after working in the restaurant business for a bunch of years, this is a red flag. I also noticed that the coffee beans they use for their espresso machine were the store brand from the local hypermart. Won't be going back.

I think it said it was 50 cm on the menu, but I'm not used to using the metric system, so when it arrived, we were surprised at how big it was. It was nearly as big as the table! We had the simple Margherita pizza. The crust was amazing, the sauce was so tasty, and the cheese was good quality. We feasted on that monster pizza until we could eat no more, but still only ended up eating about 3/4 of it. Even though we couldn't finish it, the server told us that many times just two customers can finish it. Are you up to the challenge?
