I stayed next-door at the Norwich Inn while attending some King Arthur Baking classes... And I'm sure I was over there twice a day for something! The McWhit breakfast sandwich is very, very good! I had one when I arrived, and I even took one on the road to the airport with me. Whether I needed water bottles or a treat or some souvenir?? It was there! I was even able to find some random kitchen tools that I have not seen in years. Staff is super nice and friendly. This store is obviously a huge and important part of the community. My hotel room had a window looking out at the parking lot and cars just streamed in and out all day long. As I was leaving, I thanked the clerk and told him I thought every town should have a store like this! I love my town, but too many chain grocery stores and dollar stores and nothing can beat Dan and Whits!

Well stocked general store right next to the Norwich Inn…read more We were in town for the King Arthur baking school and came here several times to get ziplock bags to pack all our food; get a few gallons of drinking water b/c with the cold weather outside the heaters inside are going to dry you up and tasty chicken salad and cured meats to eat with all our baked goods. Everyone is super friendly and we loved all the stands outside the store from a "wall of kindness" free coat rack to the free library to the eyeglass donation bin. It gave it all the small town and proud proprietor vibes that we don't get in Oakland with boarded up storefronts, vandalism and broken glass. EV Drivers - there are two slow chargepoint EV chargers in their parking lot.

Got near the frozen food aisle and here comes unmasked coughing employee moving around the back of store. Then she's back to stocking shelves. How is she at work? Has anyone heard of COVID that works here? Needless to say, my hubby wanted to get the hell out of there quickly and now doesn't ever want to go back. It isn't the same store as it was many years ago. They need to look at how great coop stores are in Vt. and copy them. Oh and tell your employees to stay home when sick!

However, the staff are not helpful, not pleasant and are quite rude. If it were not for the flowers themselves I would go elsewhere like Vermont Cut Flowers. They have wonderful flowers with a great staff but I didn't have time to go over there. After having lived in the Upper Valley for about 20 years the attitude sadly reinforces Hanover's reputation. I have enjoyed their annual Dairy Day where they promote products to encourage you to shop at their store but again the overall attitude continues to discourage me from shopping there. The flowers themselves 5 stars. The service probably 1.5.

Luckily found some on the kitchen counter. I explored the store further. They had huge collection of drinks, wines, cereal, large variety of fruits and vegetables. They had hot bar and cafe too, but they were closed when I went. Most of store was very clean. Check out process was quick and easy but no self checkout available.

The Lebanon Co-Op is clean, neat, and well organized. Many products/merchandise are locally…read moresourced, fresh, and wholesome, particularly, the dairy, fruits, and vegetables. Prices are high. The staff are professional, friendly, and helpful, except the manager/supervisor of the Prepared Foods section, a woman with a nasty edge. Speaking of prepared foods, fortunately, the muffins are now baked in-house, and are no longer wrapped in cellophane; they look and taste much better than they did when they were baked, off-site, and wrapped in cellophane. The bagels that they bake in the store, from their once frozen state, are like hockey-pucks, and are awful. The locally, bakery baked bagels are better, but, for bagels, my best advice is to head to The Works in Hanover, or The Works, inside DHMC, main campus, in Lebanon. Fortunately, the Lebanon Co-Op carries fresh baguettes that come from King Arthur Flour; they seem to be quite good on the day that they are baked (it's helpful to not have to make a trip to Norwich, VT, for fresh, King Arthur baguettes). In the Prepared Food section, it seems that the Co-Op has gotten rid of their former, rubbery, very commercial grade chicken, in their chicken salad. We have not tasted the Co-Op's other chicken entrees, in the Prepared Food section; one can only hope that the Co-Op got rid of their former, rubbery, commercial grade chicken, in the other prepared, chicken entrees. Some of the other prepared food entrees are very expensive, and of Walmart quality. I don't get it, I'd think that if the Co-Op was going to charge a very premium price for those prepared entrees, they'd, at least, deliver a high quality product, but, they don't. We pick and choose what we shop for at the Lebanon Co-Op. We'd like to support a local business, and OUR Co-Op, but the prices at the Lebanon Co-Op are very high, and the quality of the prepared foods, in general, sucks.
