I went in the store today wearing jeans and a pair of running shoes because I had been in a hurry after cleaning house today because I wanted to pick out a bedroom outfit for our daughter. When we lived in Michigan, I frequently shopped our Ethan Allen Store, which had friendly staff. I was surprised to see first of all how small the Sarasota store on Cattlemen was. When I walked in the door, I said I would just like to look around to the lady sitting behind the desk. There was a man speaking another language to the woman who appeared to work there. Neither the man or woman were friendly. They briefly looked at me and did not smile at all. I walked myself around the store and only noticed a couple of bedroom outfits. The furniture was very limited in the store, as limited as the kindness I suppose. This was by far the strangest furniture store I've been in. I had a budget of $15,000 to spend on my daughters room (which would include furniture as well as drapery). I took that money and went elsewhere and will not visit their store again. At the very least, employees should be kind to potential clients who walk in their doors. You never know who is prepared to make a large purchase, even someone wearing jeans and running shoes. read more

Update on Ethan Allen Review Now, what, two weeks later? They have ordered the motor which was shot after only a year of use and one mid-year repair. It will take 3-4 weeks! Why don't they have motors on hand???? We asked for a loaner chair because their broken one is stuck in the upright position. They said they'd bring us a different non-electric model in two weeks and take the damaged merchandise out for repair. That loaner chair has yet to arrive and I hope it's soon, we have guests for Christmas and I'll certainly be spreading the cheer about Ethan Allen to them. Stay tuned for more updates. read more

Ethan Allen of Sarasota has the worse customer service I have ever experienced. The manager Jack Warful and sales associate Mary are very poor representatives of this company. We had issues with our purchase and all they can do is respond with a canned response. They got my money so they do not care whether or not I am satisfied. Every response is" read the fine print." Ordered 2 pieces: a sleeper couch and an upholstered chair. Both pieces came in on time with no drama. Both pieces are lovely, comfortable and exactly as ordered. We have an entire house to furnish. Kathleen met us at the house--determined our needs, our tastes, and our color/design scheme. The next day, we visited the store, and she had suggestions for everything we had discussed. We threw some new ideas at her and made adjustments. CAVEAT EMPTOR!! If you are not completely satisfied with a presented design, START OVER! Do not purchase anything until you are completely satisfied. Regardless of any sale pricing they maybe offering! Ethan Allen has no return policy! They are commission sales people and defend "their design". If they disagree with you after a purchase there is no recourse. Be sure that all fabrics, rugs and colors meet your expectations! IF NOT START OVER! When moving to Florida my husband and I left all our furniture behind in New Jersey and were challenged with furnishing a new home. After shopping at local furniture stores and talking to designers we became aware that we hadn't yet found a knowledgable designer we could trust to see our big picture and guide us along in filling our home. Upon entering Ethan Allen in Sarasota we were met by Pamela Sacher and quickly knew she was the designer we needed. Pamela did not pressure us. She was easy to work with, she first listened to our likes and needs, looked at our floor plan and professionally moved us along in an organized manner. Pamela is very knowledgable and brought a fresh perspective to selecting furniture and accessories. After our initial consultation, Pamela Sacher began e-mailing suggestions that assisted in narrowing our choices. We were ready for our next consultation at Ethan Allen in Sarasota. This time we were presented with a beautiful array of sample fabrics, wood tones, rugs and pictures of potential furnishings as well as another tour of items we had selected. Before we left we had chosen most of the furnishings for our new home and signed a contract. Ethan Allen agreed to hold our furniture until our house was completed. The day had arrived for our house to be filled with the ordered furniture. Delivery was professional, on time and seamless. The quality furniture had been carefully protected and was efficiently placed according to Pamela's design. We love the result! After having time to absorb the new décor Pamela was contacted again. We discussed voids we wanted filled. Pamela again listened to our thoughts and arrived at our home prepared with books and pictures ready to make suggestions on how to flush out our home. More decisions were made! We would like to thank Pamela Sacher for a rewarding experience and making our challenge fun. Pamela is not only knowledgable in regards to Ethan Allen's products; she is also knowledgable in decorating theory, communicates well and is professional. Can't Hold Back Anymore We bought an Astor sofa and two chairs a little over a year ago. Since then the sofa cushions cushions have been replaced twice. When delivered to us the first time, we noticed abnormal gaps between the cushions. They were also not level and had rippling along the face of the cushions. Two replacements later, there are still gaps between the cushions to the point that you can read the writing on the lining underneath the cushions. When you sit, it is uncomfortable and you must continually shift the cushions to create a more normal fit between the end cushions and the middle cushion. The cushions also still have permanent wrinkles, ripples and puckering across the front due to the wrapping of the cushion under the fabric. They also do not sit level against the frame. I have contacted both in writing and verbally, the customer service department, the manager, and sales designer that sold it to me. No one ever followed up with me after the second delivery. I filled out a form expressing my concerns and gave it to the delivery crew. I am so unhappy with the sofa and both family and two friends that are experienced interior decorators agree with me that there are several things wrong wrong with this sofa. I have a Drexel Heritage sofa in another room that is over ten years old and the cushions have kept their original form and fit correctly on the frame. The prices are high the quality is low. This is not the Ethan Allen of years ago. I grew up with Ethan Allen furniture that my parents were proud to have in their home. The quality has gone way down. I do have pictures that will validate my concerns and dissatisfaction. read more

I purchased a Bennett sofa from the Cattleman Road store in Sarasota, Florida. After approximately one month the three back cushions started to pucker and ripple at the top. They took it back once and placed batting around the sides to try to fill it out. This was a ridiculous attempt to fill it out since all that did was get caught in the zipper. The second time they made new cushions which were "firm" versus "medium" which I had ordered. This made no difference either. I took a cushion to the store and the manager agreed it was substandard. It was believed it may have been the fabric which was one of the four fabrics to pick from with the "quick ship". Now after two attempts to repair the back cushions they are telling me it is fantastic looking and meets Ethan Allen standards????? Extremely poor customer service and extremely poor quality. This was for my new construction home. My previous home had an Ethan Allen sofa, chair, coffee table, and two end tables. This company sure is not what it used to be. I would say save your money and go to Big Lots because that is what my new sofa looks like it was purchased for $399.00 Very strange they admitted three times there was a problem and then when they could not improve it, at all, it suddenly becomes Ethan Allen standard. read more
