The Watch Shop may not have a fancy name or elegant decor, but it is conveniently located in the Ilac Centre and really is good, timely, and cheap. And friendly, too. Just what I look for when I need a new watch battery. (I can't speak to purchasing a watch here - although they look to have quite a range, as well as a number of watch bands.) My husband and I have had them replace batteries in several of our watches (of varying brands and value) and are satisfied repeat customers. The last time we were in, I was just asking the jeweller when I should pick up my watch, as she changed my battery and handed it back to me with a smile. I love that a place that fixes timepieces values MY time. I may not be able to turn back the clock, but I will be turning to The Watch Shop time after time(!).

Twice it has been sent back to the manufacturer, which took in total 4 MONTHS. Every time the people on the shop floor, including one lady who was referred to as the repairs manager, provided absolutely NO information. Recently brought the watch in again and they were as unhelpful as ever. I shudder every time I see the shop and the only reason I go in is the watch is still under warranty (have had it for just under 2 years) and everywhere else is charging ridiculous amounts. Frustrating. Unhelpful. Completely useless wouldn't be an understatement. HATE this place.

I actually went here to get my Rolex serviced as it was more cost effective than some other choices. Apparently when you own a Rolex you are supposed to have it serviced every year but I could not afford to do this or remember and I can be of the mentality of it's not broke don't fix it! However my watch was rapidly losing time about 5 minutes every day which I was kind of adapting to but decided after about 8 years of wearing it perhaps it was time for the first service. While there I did also mention that as much as I loved the watch I could not read the time (so it losing time did not really matter) due to the little gold hands on the gold background. I asked about changing the colour of the background. They suggested changing the colour of the hands which was a MUCH cheaper option and was included in the price of the service. Cost of the service €380 and I got the watch back all nice and shiny AND I can tell the time again YIPPEE. Okay it may be a bit expensive but wearing a good watch is like wearing silk underwear - you just feel good.

Not only because Dawson Jewellers are probably the best price in town (trust me, the shop in St. Stephen's Green Centre was a big flipping rip off), but they go above and beyond to be polite, friendly and considerate whatever your business. And not only did they replace the batteries, but they sealed the watches at very little extra expense So yes, small stuff for such a fancy place, but makes you think that if there comes a time to invest in an expensive and elaborate piece of jewellery, this would be the first stop.
