This is my first visit to Tasmania, and we (my wife and I) disembarked the Spirit of Tasmania at Devenport at 0705 today. There were plenty of places open for breakfast there, but we weren't hungry then. We drove past Burnie, still not hungry enough to stop and eat breakfast. We drove to Deloraine and decided that now we were hungry enough. First place which we stopped at was indicating that it was open: tables and chairs out the front, a big sign saying "open", music playing inside, and lights were on, but the doors were locked. We went to a couple of other places and were disappointed with the appearance of them. Deloraine Town Bakery was different. There was a charm to the place which attracted us, and we hadn't even seen the food on offer! When we did, I needed to add an extra star to this review. When I tasted the food and drink, that confirmed my five stars for this place. The owner, David, and his staff and their "nothing is too much trouble" attitude is a wonderful addition to an already excellent eating place. I'm sure that you will not be disappointed.

It was our turn and I was still questioning our choice. I turned around and the line behind us was 25 deep....we stayed. Picked our meat pies and drink and collected our food within a few minutes! Got a seat and open our little package to beautiful hot Meat Pies. We both cut a bite off and tasted and smiled at the same time. We had a winner. We shared each pie and they were both very good. We had the Beef and Pepper Pie and the Beef and Mushroom Pie. The dough of the pie was very flaky and had a great taste, right amount of salt in the dough that only enhanced the meat mixtures. We got some tomato sauce but it was Not needed the pies held up on their own. As we sat there for almost an hour the line never let up and there was always a different group of people. Banjo's sells some pies and such. Everyone seemed to be very happy. Derive us quick. Staff seems upbeat. Prices are extremely reasonable. Great take out food and dine-in options. Highly recommend. What they did have was a pretty decent, if pricey chia pudding. I could imagine that when they do have a running kitchen, their food might be quite nice, but since they chose to be open, I feel it fair to rate them based on what they had to offer while I was there.

Once the shining caffeine and sandwich beacon awaiting you half way from Hobart to Launceston, now…read morethat there's options in Campbell Town for your coffee fix, you might want to rethink your reflex stop in Campbell Town. There's a huge drinks fridge, a tiny sandwich/wrap shelf, and a largish pastry case, and a warming rack near the register filled with savoury snacks. A few tables are there, but it's clearly for takeaway. The usual coffee and hot chocolate menu, BUT. The staff is S-L-O-W. Maybe it's because the pace of life in C-Town is slower paced, but boy oh boy. The line usually stretches to the door, and when it's finally your turn, the person behind the counter fidgets, talks to the barista, then usually decides then to restock the case with sausage rolls. You say your order, they ask you "Is that all?" After every item, then misunderstand it. You finally get it right and then you meander around while they slowly (and I mean slowly) make the coffees. When you get them, they are boiling hot and insipid - get it with an extra shot and it turns into hot sludge. Skip the rude, slow staff and grab your coffee elsewhere in C-Town next time.

Bottom line: definitely a satisfying stop on the way through Campbell Town, but nothing to go out of your way for, though I admit that the long queue at the take away counter implied that others may have a higher opinion!
