I run a small business and let me say this....when someone brings in a voucher you honour it! Even if it's expired etc! Because it's good business. I attended a convention in Hobart & as part of a 'goodies ' bag I received a '2 for 1' coffee deal. I attempted to redeem it here & was rejected because it wasn't 'validated' ie. the "valid until:" bit had not been completed. This caused embarrassment to me and to the staff member who'd run it past the manager. To make matters worse the coffee which I'd then paid for was terrible - very bitter. There were 250 people at the convention, all of whom received a voucher. If all were rejected that's a whole lot of bad karma! I'll finish by saying that the bakery goods were very nice.

This is my first visit to Tasmania, and we (my wife and I) disembarked the Spirit of Tasmania at Devenport at 0705 today. There were plenty of places open for breakfast there, but we weren't hungry then. We drove past Burnie, still not hungry enough to stop and eat breakfast. We drove to Deloraine and decided that now we were hungry enough. First place which we stopped at was indicating that it was open: tables and chairs out the front, a big sign saying "open", music playing inside, and lights were on, but the doors were locked. We went to a couple of other places and were disappointed with the appearance of them. Deloraine Town Bakery was different. There was a charm to the place which attracted us, and we hadn't even seen the food on offer! When we did, I needed to add an extra star to this review. When I tasted the food and drink, that confirmed my five stars for this place. The owner, David, and his staff and their "nothing is too much trouble" attitude is a wonderful addition to an already excellent eating place. I'm sure that you will not be disappointed.

This lovely country bakery bakes all their bread in a wood fired oven. We stopped in for lunch and…read morehad wonderful meat and salad sandwiches made with chewy crusty sourdough bread fresh from the wood fired oven. We also tried a mars bar slice and an eccles cake! It was just delicious and the coffee was reasonable. The staff were really sweet too.
