A quaint French bistro in industrial New Ross?!? Yup! And I'm delighted to say Et Voila is wonderful and tasty and fancy and New Ross is quite lucky to have it!
The husband and I visited the restaurant when it first opened, after hearing very high praise from the in-laws about it. It's tucked up between a few shops in the Irishtown - wouldn't expect a restaurant there, maybe a Centra or a chipper. Most restaurants in New Ross are based near the river Barrow for the views and the foot traffic, I suppose. Failing views and foot traffic, Et Voila offers quite authentic French food served up with warm "Irish mammy" hospitality. The restaurant itself is warm and dimly lit (read: romantic) - would be great for an anniversary dinner or just a cozy weekday one-to-one with your significant other.
Got a nice warm bread basket plonked down on our table when we arrived. I LOVE these little freebie touches! We opted for starters and mains and a bottle of wine. They have a good selection of, mainly French, wines. We ordered a Fleurie - which was just scrummy. We both had the mushroom tartlets - gorgeous flaky pastry, creamy mushrooms. Perfect size starter, not too filling. My husband's steak was beautifully cooked and my salmon fillet was, well, perfect. Just perfect - even the vegetables on the side were buttery and delicious!
Actually can't fault anything with Et Voila. Service was outstanding, the waiter was attentive without being right at your elbow the whole time. Food was excellent - would be outstanding quality for a Dublin city centre restaurant, let alone New Ross! This is a definite "Must Go" if you're in Wexford! read more
