Great find in New Port Richey. Decided to go based on recommendations from a few friends. Located in downtown NPR, near the Suncoast Theater. Sat at the bar, because we like the vibe there better. Super impressed with the bartender. Not only made great martinis, she's a certified sommelier and had great recommendations for wine pairing with food. Started off with some raw oysters. Prepared properly (separated from the bottom shell). Fresh and tasty. Next was the appetizer special, seafood mix salad on crispy potato bars. Interesting and tasty. Finally, we had the grilled octopus. Seriously some of the best I had. Nice and tender and grilled just right. Service was outstanding and attentive. Atmosphere was lively, without being noisy. Estuary -- downtown NPR Nice clean, minimalist decor. The room is lively--read: noisy. Fine for a fun night out, maybe not ideal for a first date where conversation matters. So, no substitutions. The menu says so, the server will remind you, and honestly? It's a chef driven menu. Interesting background, too: Chef/owner James Renew spent 28 years training with chefs across Florida, Las Vegas, and Sydney before opening Estuary. Apparently, they've been voted among the best restaurants in the Tampa area two consecutive years running. It shows. We started with the crab beignets -- crispy, golden, and paired with a jalapeño aioli that managed to be interesting without setting your face on fire. Nicely done, though I wouldn't have minded a little more kick. The steak frites were the star of the show. The steak was cooked absolutely perfectly. The fries? Cooked in duck fat. DUCK FAT. Honestly, tasted like fries to me -- and a little underdone at that. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly proud of the place -- rightfully so. The Buffalo Trace Manhattan on the rocks was dangerously good. Drinks all around were solid. Total came to just over $100 for two before tip -- fair for this quality. Fair warning though -- they tack on a 3% credit card surcharge. Unnecessary and a little annoying at this price point. Nice higher end restaurant in the new downtown. Is the food plated beautifully? Yes. Is it worth the price, lack of flexibility, and overall taste? Not really. The service was good, and the atmosphere makes it a nice local spot to meet up with friends. However, the inability to modify your meal/sides at all was frustrating. The food, flavor, and what tasted like literal microwaved mashed potatoes was disappointing to say the least and definitely did not justify the price point. The food was really good, although a little on the pricey side for what you get. That said, the atmosphere was fun and the standout for me was definitely the Filthy Flamingo cocktail -- absolutely delicious and worth going back for! So we were absolutely game for this place!! We got immediately seated in Erin's area! she was kind, pleasant and extremely friendly! All a part of this experience. We tried some cocktails...Filthy Flamingo (OMG YUM) and Dirty Martini! We ordered the Baked Oysters ----delicious, small but the flavor was off the charts! We then ordered our salads and entrees. 1 Beet Salad and 1 Local fresh Salad (1/2 order) - perfect size in both cases, again the flavors were perfect together! A very cute place for dinner! We found street parking before coming in for a 6:15 reservation for dinner. We were promptly seated and our server was very attentive. I got a cocktail with pear vodka which was so light and tasty! We got a bunch of plates including the table bread with chicken butter which was phenomenal! The crab beignets had a lot of crab inside and you get 4 of them. The beet salad was so amazing and the steak tartare was surprisingly very good (my first time trying). Stopped in this morning to try out Estuary for brunch and was very pleased with the experience!!! We were seated upon entering the restaurant. Our server, Jolene was extremely efficient and a pleasure to have helping us. She assisted in menu selections which helped with my decisions for entrees. Drinks were kept flowing the entire time which also was nice!! All the food was excellent with delectable flavors and beautiful presentation as well!! I've been twice in the last month and both times were fantastic. My favorite is the Steak Frites. AMAZING!! Anyone who says the Duck Fat Fries aren't anything great probably think Burger King fries are the best! My friend got the Burger and she swore it was the best burger she has ever had. That is saying a lot bc she is very well traveled. Her only complaint was she would have liked to have the Duck Fat Fries. The drinks were fabulous! Everyone was sooo friendly. Went to brunch here with some friends today. Started off with a couple bloody Mary's and an espresso martini . All the drink were good. We also started off with biscuits and strawberry jam. I love these and will definitely try the gravy with them next time. We all tried something different for our entrees. I had the avocado toast. My friends ordered the pork belly Benedict and the hash. The hash was spicy from the sausage. Then we topped it all off with the doughnuts! And they were very yummy. The ambiance is very hip with a lot of green and natural light. The booths are clean and comfortable. The music was great! I had to ask where it was from because I was really into it. Tonight we are at the Estuary. Cocktails were perfect. I am very specific when ordering a martini and it was spot on. Appetizers we awesome. I had the oysters on the half shell. Wife had the crab beignets, Nat the roasted oysters. Main courses weee the Steak and frites, Red fish colcannon, house burger and the wagyu sirloin. All perfect tasty and memorable. It's been awhile since I've been motivated enough to leave a review. Estuary breaks the silence. A local friend gave me a heads up and my wife and I dined there the following evening. Everything meticulously made to order in a casual yet refined atmosphere. A few bar patrons were a little colorful on this evening, but didn't stay much past happy hour. That was the only could have been better. Service was wonderful and we were delighted by our appetizers and entrees. We'll definitely be back. We ate at Estuary for the first time on Friday. We arrived there as soon as they opened for the day. The food was excellent! The duck and sirloin entrees were amazing. Our server was attentive. My only complaint is that there was only one other party in the entire restaurant, and the seater placed them at a table right out from our booth. I'm sure both parties would have enjoyed our respective dining experiences more not being seated right next to each other when the rest of the establishment was empty. read more

A sister restaurant to the also amazing Little Lamb gastropub, this place has a small but mighty menu. The cocktails were fantastic. The filthy flamingo is perfectly sweet and the sangria has a unique tasty flavor. The deviled eggs had excellent flavor and visual appeal also. The pork steak is cooked sous vide for hours and then seared. The flavor was phenomenal. I had never has Teres major before so I don't have anything to compare it to but it was cooked perfectly, extremely tender, and really flavorful. Even the broccolini was perfectly seasoned and the crunchy cheese bits on top made for a nice touch. It's pricey when you add in alcohol, but so worth it. We will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I went out to dinner with friends. We heard about a cute little restaurant in downtown New Port Richey. For all the snobs out there... Yes, New Port Richey actually has a nice little downtown area -- Including this very nice restaurant. We went out on a Friday night... The streets were packed, the restaurants were filled, and we needed a reservation for this dinner date. That almost sounds like something needed in Tampa. We ordered lots of food, including multiple appetizers, multiple different entrées, followed by a simple dessert. I even ordered a cocktail... Which I rarely do. I ordered the strip steak, and it was actually quite good. Good flavor, cooked perfectly, and the plate presentation was very nice. My wife ordered the redfish... It was good, but nothing special. Another friend ordered the redfish. The final entrée was the steak frites which looked very good. The appetizers were good... Probably my favorite was the crab beignets. The mahi dip was good... But I probably wouldn't spend the money on it again. The dinner rolls were also good... But it's still a pet-peeve of mine that restaurants charge for simple bread. So, I'll wrap up this review. Very nice looking restaurant, good food, and decent pricing. It's a fancy restaurant so the prices reflect that. However, one small gripe... This restaurant has a credit card fee (almost 4%) added to bill. This restaurant is already a bit pricey... I think they can afford to cover the credit card fee without adding it to the check. Just seems a bit tacky to me. Yes, I know you can pay cash and not pay that fee... But who carries cash anymore. read more

Finally came back to try dinner... DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Our service was outstanding. We had Erin for a birthday party and she treated us like VIPs. She was super attentive and didn't miss a beat! We were seated in the private room and the ambiance and vibes were immaculate. The food, as usual, to die for. Crab beignets were fluffy. Oysters were fresh with a delicious mignonette. Shrimp toast was super flavorful (a tad spicy just in case you don't like spice). Rolls were fluffy and buttery on their own and then the chicken fat butter added a different flavor and more buttery goodness. Scallop crudo was fresh with crisp flavors, I loved the cucumber and the little kick of the jalapeño. Not pictured that I also tried was steak tartare, steak frites, and the pork chop. So happy for some cool weather, because otherwise I would not have discovered that this place does brunch on both Saturdays and Sundays 10:30-2:30 I believe, then they close before they open up for dinner. We were going to go to one of our normal brunch spots for outside seating, but it was a bit too brisk For one of us (not me). I remember when this place opened, but didn't see anything on the menu I had to run in for. Then I saw they were doing brunch, and there were some definite must have's on the menu. First, I will warn you on Saturday, They are a little short on help. I don't know if they're still practicing with brunch on Saturdays to see how well it catches on. But tip the server well! Because she is doing the seating, the bartending, and taking the orders.... And she remained pleasant and positive, and answered every question. I was torn between the shrimp and grits and the crabcake Benedict. She recommended the shrimp and grits, but said both are excellent, but the shrimp and grits is one of their specialties. So I took her advice and could not be happier. Let me tell you, She was hustling! And we did not have to wait for anything. So we have definitely been blessed with a new great local place for brunch! Lots of choices for brunch cocktails, good beer options, and the coffee was excellent. Plus you get your own little canning jar of true cream! Not creamer or whole milk, actual cream. The breakfast sandwich was phenomenal. No fat on the bacon, Nice and crispy, egg was perfect for this type of sandwich, fresh avocado, and a nice pimento cheese spread on grilled bread. However, for me, the star was the shrimp and grits. It is now my all-time favorite shrimp and grits anywhere! Nice little Cajun sauce, enough spice, where you don't need or want any hot sauce, you get to the end and your nose is just a little runny from the heat. The grits themselves were excellent. The Cajun sauce only made it better. And so great to have some other items on there. Some sautéed peppers and onions, tomatoes, and some Julian green onions. The shrimp were large, fresh, and cooked perfectly. Every bite was just a little bit different. Please don't change a thing! Definitely a cool little vibe with the murals, and the variety of seating, I can see on a perfect weather day, having those window, garage doors open, sipping on a bloody Mary, and having some more shrimp and grits! Maybe someday I'll try the crab Benedict one of my other favorite brunch items. read more

My husband and I came here for dinner and made a reservation the same day. Highly suggest making a reservation so you don't have to wait for a table. The ambiance is nice and inviting. So was the host and our server. We started by asking for a minor change to one of their cocktails and they suggested making a custom cocktail which we accepted. The cocktails were overly sweet so we only had one. We opted for a couple appetizers- the smoked mahi dip and the crab beignets. Both were delicious but the dip was our favorite! Such powerful, great flavor with a nice kick! We split the little gem salad which was fresh. I ordered the duck and my husband ordered the redfish. Both were so good. We wrapped up the dinner with the chocolate ganache which was amazing. I have nothing but positive things to say about the food. The service was lacking once we got our appetizers. It took us an hour to get our entrees. The server was sweet enough to bring us a glass of champagne on the house for the delay which was kind but we found the delay to be ridiculous since the restaurant wasn't overly packed at the time. The entire experience took about 2 hours. We will be back in the future and hope for a more seamless dining experience next time! read more
