She went above and beyond on our engagement shoot, even sending us a sneak peek the NEXT DAY so that I could have them for our one-year-out from the wedding celebration. On our wedding day she (and her second shooter Cassie) kept us organized and on time, capturing all the shots that were important to us and so many more, while still allowing us to enjoy every second of the day. She sent us an amazing sneak peek 2 days later, which was incredible, and the timeline for receiving our entire album wasn't long at all. A good wedding photographer does such much more than just take pictures. I cannot imagine going through the wedding planning process without Esther!! Not only was she completely understanding when we needed to reschedule our engagement photos three times (on account of bad weather,) but she found us the most beautiful and private areas of Cape Ann to shoot at. We were ASTONISHED by her quick turnaround time and how beautiful the pictures turned out. We have received endless compliments on them, as she was able to perfectly capture our personalities and relationship. Esther spent hours with me on the phone helping to establish my wedding timeline, answer my long list of questions, and figure out where I wanted to take our wedding photos. We used Esther Mathieu Photography as our photographer for our wedding in September 2019. Esther was easy to work with from the start and took the time to answer all my questions over the phone and from my many emails. I wanted a photography style that focused on all aspects of our wedding including the wedding details, candids, and of course portraits. I absolutely LOVE Esther's style of photography and she has a natural eye for lighting and great shots! She also met with us a couple months before hand to walk through our venue and ensure we had all perfect photo spots planned out. On our wedding day, Esther and her secondary photographer split up to take getting ready photos of the bridal party and groomsmen. During our ceremony and reception, Esther did a great job capturing all the good angles while not being distracting to our guests. When it came time to do photos with our bridal party and family, we were feeling a little stressed out herding our families to get through the portrait shots. Luckily, Esther is experienced with family dynamics and did a great job keeping everyone on track. Then after dinner we walked around and took some more photos during sunset that came out beautiful. Weddings can get chaotic and I really appreciated having a photography team that had the years of experience to know how to adapt and even better helped us stay calm. We met Esther Mathieu through a Living Social deal and it was one of the best photo experiences we have ever had. Esther is patient when working with small children and did a great job prepping us for what we should bring to the photo shoot. She brought out the best in our son. We had some difficulty and delays choosing our photos. She was extremely patient with us and was quick to resolve an issue we had with the photo CD well after we received the pictures, which were much better than we ever expected. Esther photographed a maternity session for a friend and I fell in love with the pictures. I knew that I absolutely had to have her capture that special time in my life as well and she did so perfectly. Two of those pictures hang in my son's nursery and he likes to touch the belly pictures and he smiles. It makes me so happy and so thankful that she was there to document my pregnancy. Ten days after the maternity pictures were taken, my son arrived. A week later, Esther and her assistant came to my home to take newborn pictures. They spent four hours with us - FOUR! Being a mom herself, she understands the nursing and sleeping needs of a newborn and worked around that. She carefully positioned my nine-day old baby and was so comfortable doing so. We used the photos from the newborn session on our birth announcement and everyone raved about how beautiful the pictures were. This was my first encounter with natural light photography and I have to say it was such a wonderful experience. Esther was very personal and attentive. She accommodated our requests and also brought her own ideas to the session. The pictures came out wonderful and I now have a new love for this type of photography. I chose Esther Mathieu Photography for my maternity/newborn photos solely based on the beautiful examples of her work she had posted on her website. Her use of natural light and often landscape make for some really amazing photos. My husband was apprehensive and felt slightly uncomfortable posing for a photo shoot, but she put him at ease right away with her friendly personality-laughing and joking with us while using her knowledge to tell us what to do. Prior to our outdoor maternity photo shoot, we communicated back and forth about what I was looking for and she helped me pick a spot that was perfect! Esther came to our home for the newborn shoot. As a new mom, I was nervous about everything but she knows what she is doing and was able to capture some beautiful photos of my son-who cried most of the time. Esther is an awesome photographer and just a great person! I recommend her to everyone, many of my friends have used her for family/maternity/newborn photos since and I plan to again!
