She got our guests to laugh and relax and really be themselves, and brought her fine-art eye to the wonderful candids. She captured moments I thought only I had seen - and did so totally unobtrusively - it was like she shot it all through our eyes. Anne worked closely with us to choose the shots in advance, work out the approach we wanted her take, choose her assistant, Paul (a star in his own right), and weed through the shots after it was all over. We've received a sneak peek of the images from the shoot, and we're over the moon already! As a photographer and photo editor, Stephen is extremely talented. The samples on his website show his range of experience across different dimensions (weather conditions, different times of day, indoor vs outdoor locations). We found that his experience certainly translated to the images we've received back so far. His framing is thoughtful, and he makes fantastic use of lighting and the location in the moment! Before the session, I got to see Stephen go above and beyond with his thoughtfulness, flexibility, and professionalism. From the moment we agreed on the date and time, Stephen patiently corresponded with me over the weeks prior. He would always reply in a timely manner and was willing to share his wealth of experience. He was able to advise about locations I was considering, even sharing helpful sample photographs to help me make a more informed decision. As the weather forecast fluctuated in the week prior, he even helped me prepare for adverse weather scenarios and even helped iron out back up locations/plans. During the session, my partner and I found Stephen's collaborative nature extremely impressive. He helped set up for the shoot before hand, and he made my partner feel extremely comfortable throughout the session. He struck an excellent balance between giving us recommendations for things to try and allowing us to be ourselves. I sent them to a friend who had already booked her own newborn photo shoot and she said she regretted putting down a deposit with another photographer because she loved Nicole's style! We don't take a lot of photos and are pretty camera-shy, but Nicole was very helpful and gently guided us on what to do and made us feel free to try out different things. She was very gracious during our session and even went a little over time because we had to feed the baby in the middle of it. Photos came back within two weeks and we're very happy with them. She went above and beyond on our engagement shoot, even sending us a sneak peek the NEXT DAY so that I could have them for our one-year-out from the wedding celebration. On our wedding day she (and her second shooter Cassie) kept us organized and on time, capturing all the shots that were important to us and so many more, while still allowing us to enjoy every second of the day. She sent us an amazing sneak peek 2 days later, which was incredible, and the timeline for receiving our entire album wasn't long at all. She captured the…read moreessence of our entire wedding day so perfectly that everyone who sees our photos can not stop raving about them. They say they feel transported back to the day (as we do every time we view them). Our photos are timeless and quite simply put, gorgeous. A few things that I love about working with her. (1) She works alone. (2) She has the patience of a monk (3) She blends in so naturally. We had a guest comment on how stealthy she was. Most people had no idea she was taking photos the entire evening, yet she captured the most beautifully candid photos of our guests. (4) She's quick to catch a fleeting moment. She's truly a natural behind the lens. (5) She has a very lovable personality that seems to light people up. (6) She is willing to travel. Our wedding was in San Francisco. (7) All images were available within one week for viewing and purchasing online which makes it easy to circulate to family and friends. I would definitely not recommend this photographer. Because we live across the country, we were…read moreunable to do our engagement photos with Melissa. I think that if we had, I definitely would have hired someone else. She arrived unprepared and complained about the lighting in the room I chose to get ready in. She took my Dress into the hall to try to get a photo of it but those photos weren't even in my proofs. We went to take photos before the ceremony of the bridal party. I wanted a beach, but she brought us to a marshy area that had not been mowed with a water view behind it. It was a mess to walk in, and everyone shoes got dirty. She said she usually checks to see that it's been mowed, but she "didn't have time that day". We took photos with everyone. She made my now husband keep his jacket buttoned. With his arm holding me, it makes the jacket look like it's pulling and ill fitting. In group photos, no one is properly posed. The group isn't proportioned well on either side of us. It looks like a bunch of hooligans standing clustered in a marsh, certainly not anything I would expect from my wedding day. We would not frame a single photo from the marsh. During the ceremony, melissa snapped away, yet she didn't get a single photo of everyone looking at us as we said our vows. No photo is centered. They're a nightmare. First dance photos aren't great-- not one has ever been posted or used. There are only a few photos of us dancing after dinner-- melissa says those "get repetitive". If I paid you to be there for X number of hours, take photos the whole time. Overall, going through these photos, there isn't one that I can say, "That's our wedding photo." We don't have ANY printed in my house that melissa took. My father in law summed it up best by saying, "The pictures will remind us of that day, but they did not do it any justice." I had the wedding of my dreams, and I don't have any photos to display in my home of the best day of my life. We are beyond disappointed. When I told melissa how we felt, she told me that I was a beautiful bride. I have to say, I agree. I looked great on my wedding day. Friends and family who took photos with iPhones got some great shots and video. I'm just not sure how my photographer who was paid thousands of dollars missed the mark with these and couldn't get a good shot. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else.
