STOP! Don't hire this company! I found them online and hired them to pick up some flooring material in another state so that they can ship it to a different state. We filled out all the papers THEY requested, sent them all back and made sure they had everything they need so that the material would be shipped in time because we were send a crew to the final destination to meet the delivery truck. The day they were supposed to pick up our materials at our supplier, they said the did, but they turns out that on the day my crew was supposed to be at the job site waiting for the truck, there was nothing. I get a call from my boss asking where the materials are. So I call Estes to find out where my materials are! They said that they have not picked them up form our supplier!!!!!!! I call our supplier and they say that yes they had picked it up 2 days ago! I call Estes back and they said that they did pick it up, they had just lost the paperwork. They promise that the truck would leave that night. I get a call half and hour later with the guy saying he had just realized that the destination was a lot further that he had seen, so now we would be getting the materials in 2 more days. They sat on our materials for 2 days and now because of the hold up would be another 2 days for us to get them! This screw up cost my crew over $1000 in flight changes, rental car, hotel and food. Not to mention being behind on the job we were there for in the first place. They promised us a discount on the bill.....which we never got. And to make matters worse, they are now billing our suppliers because they in-puted the information wrong. The bill of lading that THEY had me fill out, I specified that we are responsible for the bill, however THEY filed is under the account of my supplier and are refusing to create the bill under and account for us so that we may pay. So even though the bill of lading that they have from me stating that my company was to be billed, now they are saying that they can't bill us because we don't have an account with them!!!! WTF, right????!!!! Long story short.....you'll get your shit late, they will " loose the paperwork", and they will end up billing the wrong people anyway and they will promise a discount on account of their dip-shit mistake and then never give you the discount. read more

Do yourself a favor and make every attempt possible to avoid working with this company. I think it's pretty obvious due to consistent number of 1 star reviews. I'm sure it would be less than 1-star if it wasn't the minimum requirement. I experienced it all over the course of a few weeks. First, one of my shipments was delayed and did not reach the final terminal in the time originally provided on their tracking page. Then after a longer delay and contacting the company, I was basically told that they didn't know where my shipment was. Trying to clarify this with their representative was painfully difficult. This must happen a lot because the second I tried to clarify if my package was lost, the attitude I received was completely unwarranted, unprofessional and rude. This person was clearly not trained for customer service. Finally, after locating my missing package, I was given a delivery window of 9am to 5pm. They came at 7:30am and left the $1000 package at my front door, not allowing me to sign the packing slip and formally accept receipt. Had they done that, I probably would have declined the shipment and had it returned to sender as my package arrived missing approx 30% of it's protective shipping material. There were also missing components and scratches to the exposed area of the item. I ordered a piece of equipment three weeks ago from a vendor in Missouri. I was told that the longest it would take is four days. After five days I gave them a call and they assured me the cargo was in Denver (I am in California) and will arrive in a day or two and they apologized for the delay, I get it stuff happens. HOWEVER, two days roll by and nothing, so I call them again and am told that the cargo never left their Kansas city terminal! They then told me it was shipping and will be on the next outgoing truck. So, I call them two days later as the tracking still showed Kansas, at this point they just simply stated, "we do not know we will call you back." Of course, no call ever came so I called again the next day (by this time the package was nearly two weeks later). Then, low and behold they tell me they lost my equipment. The piece in question is a 400lbs upright freezer! you know, small and easy to lose. It was been an additional week and a half now and I called again and they STILL have no idea where the freezer is. This company has no idea what they are doing, the vendor I bought the freezer from even told me this is the third time Estes LOST, that's right LOST, a shipment of his. If you want your stuff lost or damaged, then Estes is right for you. If you like you items delivered on time and unbroken then you should probably look elsewhere for your shipping needs. read more

Own a small business in Cincinnati and I work out of my home in Cincinnati - Ordered a shipment out of California and they (not me) used Estes Express Freight - Shipment got into Cincinnati on Saturday so I called them today (Monday) to schedule delivery - Was told because they needed a liftgate (which was on the label) they were transferring the shipment to their Florence, Ky terminal because they have the liftgate trucks - When I asked for the phone number for the Florence, Ky terminal they refused to give it to me - I then asked that someone from the Florence, ky terminal call me but that never happened - So lets get this straight - My shipment is in Cincinnati and I live in Cincinnati but because they don't have a liftgate the are sending it out of state - Are you freaking crazy - If you do you research on this company they have awful awful reviews all over the country - They deserve 0 stars Part:2 Estes Express showed up to my house with no appointment made - Did not call ahead or anything - When I asked for their supervisor's name and phone number they would not provide one - Said they were new - Plain white box truck with no name on it - If you are looking for the worse possible freight company look no further - They live up to 0 star rating read more

This is the third time I've had to deal with this terrible company. Do yourself a favor and drive to pick up whatever you need shipped. I don't care if it's 1,000 miles away, it's faster to do it yourself. They are always late and their tier 2 drivers are obviously a bunch of criminals and dope fiends. Everything always arrives damaged and a month late. This time, I called the terminal to tell them I would pick it up the day it got there and they released it to the junkie crew anyway. Now, 6 days later, I've heard nothing even though I've called the terminal 3 times asking for the phone number of whoever has my shipment. I was told, "They don't have a phone number. Its just a bunch of guys with trucks and we have to send out a mass email to see who has your shipment." SERIOUSLY? YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO HAS IT? I'm filing a police report in the morning and somebody is going to jail for stealing my $1,400 refrigerator. Then I'm suing you for the fridge and the ridiculous $300 shipping charge. I bought two large commercial mirrors from a company in Austin, Texas. The mirrors were manufactured by AJW in New York and sent to Miami by Estes Freight. I was extremely worried because a month prior I had mirrors sent from Southeastern Freight and they never left their dock because they were broken. So purchasing from another company, waiting another month for production I was worried that the same thing would happen. I was informed the mirrors arrived to the Estes terminal in Miami and would be informed in 24 hours about delivering them to my residential home 50 miles away. I never got the call. Twelve hours later we got a call that the mirrors were on the way to my home. Luckily we were home. But when they arrived they were on a pallet, approximately 200lbs and in excellent shape. They were definitely crated well. But that fact they actually arrived on time and unscathed was a God send after what we went through. No problem with this company. read more

Very poor service - I have spent about two hours over the past week trying to get a residential delivery. I did not choose Estes and would not choose them. Their excuse is that they use a "local, last-mile" delivery service. Just because a company subcontracts a major part of their business does not make them less responsible for it. They are choosing to do this rather than to deliver it themselves, and they are just as responsible for deliveries not being on time. Also, their own customer service is unhelpful, with long wait times on the phone and transfers to people who do not pick up, followed by the line disconnecting. Management needs to hire more customer service staff and if they are going to coordinate with subcontractors they need to pick ones that actually make deliveries. It's not an excuse to say "we hire someone else" to do the most important part of your business: actually making the delivery to the destination. read more

The delivery company Estes was in charge of delivering a shed we ordered. We actually received the shed a month after the promised delivery date. It was left in the middle of a public sidewalk (which is illegal), and my neighbors cable line was taken down by the truck during the delivery. Not only was the delivery itself a complete disaster, the month leading up to it was as well. I was in contact with two managers - Montreal and Jim - both were completely unable to tell me when I could expect delivery. Also, neither followed-up with me despite weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) calls asking for a status update. They continued to tell me they had no idea how to deliver the shed to me and gave me the same story multiple times about trying to arrange for the right truck, but nothing ever came of it. It seems they never got the "right truck" since the truck they used knocked out my neighbors cable line. read more

Update: Today our company received a partial reimbursement for the damage. We're satisfied with that, and hopefully we can ship with them again in the future without similar problems. I work for a company that has used most major carriers, freight or otherwise, and Estes is very unprofessional. I've handled many freight shipments before, so I'm not new to standard claims procedures. The claim I filed with them was a result of damage caused by their driver. The pallet fell over on their truck. We took pictures of the damage, provided the evidence that it was new product, gave them everything we had. We even had their driver call in the damage when he delivered it to us. They still claimed they weren't responsible. Estes will not be responsible for products damaged by their company. This is ridiculous and very unprofessional. We hope to see changes to how they handle claims in the future. read more

If you want your freight to arrive on time with no pathetic excuses then "NEVER USE ESTES" I have been doing shipping and receiving for about 30 years and I have never had a freight company perform as bad as ESTES. The woman who answers the San Fernando Hub's phone in the morning is by far the rudest, most obnoxious person I have ever spoken to in customer service. Maybe 75% of what we ship Estes arrives with no problems but the 25% that go bad go very bad, with lost or damaged merchandise or un-realistic lead times. Thier "so called " Guaranteed freight means nothing as they will come up with dumber excuses then UPS to explain why it does not apply to this particular shipment. WORST DELIVERY SYSTEM ON THE PLANET: I recently purchased 2 kayaks from Costco. They were shipped on the 6/14 and scheduled to deliver on 6/20. To my surprise no package arrived today (6/20) and after calling Estes almost 6 times and staying on hold for 40 minutes I was told that they don't know where my package is! How can a delivery company not know the location and status of the packages they are delivering?!?! I tried to contact Costco and they said that Estes would update the delivery status of the shipment by tomorrow... and so far NOTHING! Never purchase any item knowing Estes will be delivering! Toilet was delivered with the box all busted up. The driver insisted that there is no damage. Obviously the driver lied. Toilet was severely damaged. When I filed a complaint with Estes, I was patronized and no one got back to me. Luckily the merchant resent the item at their expense. Never do business with Estes again. Horrible service. They don't keep their word. If you need to talk to them on the phone you better pray first. I took 2 days off waiting for them and they never showed up as promised. Stay away!
