If there were more than 5 stars to give, I certainly would! The folks at Estes Audiology in Boerne are simply amazing. My 104 year old mother's hearing aids stopped working and she has significant hearing loss. We wanted to help her to be able to hear and enjoy life as quickly as possible. Everyone we came in contact with at Estes was unbelievable. They made sure that we got an appointment, received referrals from the primary care doctor and insurance approvals so that the hearing test was completed and the hearing aids ordered in record time. Abby, at the front desk, got us an appointment for the following day. Grace, conducted the hearing test, got further approvals and ordered the aids the same day! Last Monday, June 23, 2014, I woke up completely unable to hear (except for a very loud ringing) in my left ear. Not at all a good Monday. I called Ms. Baggs at Estes and she worked me in within the hour! She did a thorough hearing test. Upon concluding the hearing test, she sent me immediately to a nearby ENT who put me on a round of steroids to correct the hearing loss. According to the ENT, had it not been for Ms. Baggs - the hearing loss suffered would have been permanent. Thanks you Ms. Baggs! read more

I have been going to Estes Audiology for some months now. Estes Audiology did a great job and I have no complaints against them. I signed up for the Lyric trial and gave them a test run. The staff was friendly and helpful through my entire trial period. Lyric are unique in that they are disposable so if you try a pair and decide not to use them, they can not be "restocked" like traditional aids are. I have been through several trials and own a different pair of very expensive aids. However, I wanted the ability to wear the Lyric in almost all conditions and not have to remove them for showering, sleeping or working outside etc... I learned to be patient with trials and not expect any hearing aid to make my hearing perfect. Every persons hearing problem is "unique" to that person. So it's possible to have unreasonable expectations with hearing aids. I also have learned that all "free" trials are a gimmick. Any hearing aid facility will let you try before you buy. Lyric, however, is unique in that they have to dispose of the trial devices. So I didn't expect to walk away without some sort of fee attached. I do believe that Lyric should compensate the Audiology facility and not expect the Audiologist to be the one tasked with recovering any fees from a patient. This should be a cost of doing business. This has nothing to do with Estes Audiology however, but I can see how it can cause friction with the public. The first round of Lyric had issues. Seemed to be a high failure rate. But I knew that if that could be overcome they would be worth the effort and money. So I stuck it out. The audiologist was as good as they get. She assured me the failure rate was being addressed. And it was. I have now been wearing the Lyric for months and am very happy. They did in fact address the failure rate and with that I can say the Lyric is a HUGE improvement over traditional aids largely because they are hassle free. Since it is a disposable aid, every 3 months or so ( in my case every couple months) , they are replaced (it's a 5 minute replacement procedure). Or if the battery dies, they are replaced. Estes is proactive in the replacement so you don't have to be without a working aid. This is something you accept for the convenience of wearing the Lyric. I also learned that the Lyric was not immediately comfortable. Its a different concept so be prepared to adjust. It took some adjusting on my part, and trial on the Audiologists part, and now I can't even tell they are in. To the previous review: I am sorry you got stuck with a dispensing fee. I personally knew there would be a fee. Anytime I hear the word "FREE TRIAL" my radar goes up and I read the fine print so I don't get caught off guard like you did. I hope you get your unique hearing issue resolved. I know I did. Lastly - I have to group Estes Audiology together with Lyric since I went there specifically for the Lyric. I would have given the experience 5 stars had Lyric not had a high failure rate right off the bat. Lyric should call Estes and thank them for continuing to provide Lyric Aids. I recently went to the Boerne office of Estes Audiology after receiving a flyer for a FREE trial of Lyric hearing aids. I was charged $3,300 up front for the FREE trial. The Lyrics did not solve my unique hearing problem and I returned them. I was asked to try another pair that would be an additional $500. I was led to believe it also would be a FREE trial when I was asked to try them for 2 weeks. Nothing was said about any kind of "dispensing" fee. The second pair did not solve my problem and I returned them a week later. I was told she would have to mail my refund. Again, nothing was said about a "dispensing" fee. When the refund was received, it was $300 short. I called and was told it is in the contract you signed. What I thought was signing for the additional $500, was actually a contract giving them the right to charge me a $300 dispensing" fee. Nothing was said before or after the trial about ANYdispensing fee. I was induced to try the second pair through misrepresentation of all the facts. Also, when I tried to explain my problem, she did not seem very interested and actually turned her back to me while I was demonstrating my problem. She was more interested in getting my money than helping me. I have been to 5 different hearing aid establishments, received FREE trials and have bought 3 different kinds. I have phoned several since this happened and nobody charges for trials. These hearing aids did not solve my problem. I shouldn't have to pay anything for hearing aids that don't address my problem. I recommend anyone doing business with Estes Audiology be very, very careful. read more

My daughter was born with a preauricular tag (ear tag) even though it has never given her any problems I was told that I should get her hearing evaluated since there is a know connection of congenital hearing loss and ear tags. I chose to go Estes Audiology. The staff was great with my daughter and very personable. I learned that Estes Audiology services local musicians and veterans, being a veteran myself I found this to be highly respectable. I would recommend Estes not only for their knowledgeable and friendly staff but also for their service and commitment to the community. read more

The so-called audiologist called me a power junkie, told me my hearing aid is fine, but I could not hear my friends because I kept asking them to repeat their comments, and refused TWICE to fix my hearing aids even when they did not sound right (The third time, I asked, they charged me $125.00 on top of the $450.00 to repair the hearing aid. All she had to do to adjust the volume on it.). As a result, I went to another company and the lady (She was not an audiologist while the lady at Boerne is...) fixed it in 10 minutes! Lastly, Estes, as well as two other competitors in the Boerne area, mentioned to me in their sales pitches, that the costs to repair old hearing aids are $450 to $650 dollars and no one else charges lower. This is not true because the company I went to told me the repairs would be around $250.00. My recommendation if you live in the Boerne area, go to Bexar county or the city limits for a second opinion. Overall, I do know my hearing aids should sound. I've been deaf since birth and I feel I was really insulted they did not listen to me about my ongoing concerns. In other words, they did not provide a basic service to fix my hearing aids.
