On a good day visibility is over 100kms and its stunning. This is a self service biergarten so if you sit around waiting you will be there a while (not that I would care). Places like this are hard to describe and rate as the scenery is something out of a picture book. This place in particular had excellent Buttermilch and it tasted fabulous. A great way to hydrate yourself if you are on a long walk. I used to drink lots of this stuff when I was a kid in India and, love the fact that the biergarten's in the mountains serve it regularly :-)) I would happily come back here and not just because of the name ;-)) I describe it as a mile high, self service biergarten :-)

The scenery here is not fabulous however it is a nice self service biergarten and I think the farm owners live above the biergarten itself. They have lots of cows and you can hear the cattle bells going off and producing a pleasant sound. The drinks are good and did not try the food. All in all a nice stop to rest your legs and get ready for the last leg of the walk.

As a medical provider, these symptoms are highly consistent with food poisoning. I also noticed the food tasted off and stopped eating early, while the others continued and became ill shortly after. Based on this experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid eating here.

The Scholderer is warm and cozy and we felt at home here. Our server was super nice and warm-- we could tell the other customers felt the same way. We drank the local beer and also enjoyed the local schnapps after dinner. I ordered a US Hamburger which was a-mazing. Probably one of the better hamburgers I have ever had in my life-- sehr lecker! I also fell in the love with the decor-- there are lots of funny signs about drinking. They also had some lovely lit shadowboxes with vintage skiing pins. By the front door was a local man eating dinner with his well-behaved dog at his feet. If we are ever in Garmisch again, we will for sure revisit the Schloderer! Often crowded and tables reserved after 6:30pm. We had the schnitzel with pomme frites-huge portion of pork schnitzel and great fries. Also had the bauern schnitzel-huge portion of pork schnitzel stuffed (cordon bleu style) with ham slices and cheese. I also tried the scheinebraten (pork roast with 2 dumplings.) Never left hungry. Asked for an after dinner shot recommendation and tried the marrile schnapps (apricot liquor.) The beers are awesome and ladies loved the Radler-half beer/half carbonated clear soda (think 7Up or sprite.) Lighter than a regular beer. Awesome value.
