Avenida is an underground station on Lisbon's Linha Azul (Blue Line). Appropriately named, it is on Avenida de Liberdade, one of the city's wide boulevards. It was one of the city's original metro stations that opened in 1959. As such, it is pretty simple but functional.
The station is handicapped accessible with lifts at one end of each of the side platforms to the ticketing concourse and another lift to street level. There are restaurants, hotels, homes, shopping and all sorts at street level near the station.
It is between Marquês de Pombal (towards Reboleira) and Restauradores (towards Santa Apolónia). The usual automated ticket vending machines and turnstiles are present. On each platform, there is a visible indicator showing the current time and how long until the next train is to arrive. Benches for seating and some rubbish bins. The station is clean and well lit.
