Whitney made a number of suggestions that previous attorneys had not and unlike some attorneys, she didn't remind you that you're the client and she's the attorney. Highly recommended!

I initially had a positive experience with Hooten and Chen LLP. Communication with Mr. Chen started…read morestrong and there was early momentum. My case involved long-term exposure issues tied to a workers' compensation matter, so I understood the added complexity and the need for careful handling. Over time, however, progress stalled. While I was repeatedly asked whether I was willing to move forward and sign, I was never actually provided with documents or a concrete opportunity to do so. I made it clear I was prepared to proceed, yet meaningful action and filings never materialized. Instead, communication became fragmented and slow. After nearly two years, I was referred out to another firm due to overlapping employment termination issues. Unfortunately, that referral resulted in being effectively dropped by both parties, leaving me without representation and forced to navigate the process independently. Since then, I have undergone surgery and am currently in recovery while pursuing specialized aquatic rehabilitation therapy, all of which I coordinated myself. At this point, the outcome of my medical recovery and claim progress has come from my own persistence rather than legal advocacy. While I understand the risks involved in challenging large employers, clients deserve transparency, follow-through, and continuity of representation. My experience felt more like being delayed and passed along than actively supported. If you choose to work with this firm, I strongly recommend securing written timelines, clear deliverables, and documented next steps from the beginning.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for Joseph Beck for his immediate, effective legal…read moreassistance that resulted in swift resolution. I hired Mr. Beck to navigate the process of a very serious legal issue that came up very suddenly. I was given his name from a top attorney in criminal law in the Portland area. I appreciated the free consultation with Mr. Beck before my decision to hire him. It was clear that his expertise in explaining the legal process, the team approach at Harris Velazquez Gibbons, and providing a strategy greatly reduced my anxiety. It then allowed me to focus my energies to help with the strategy. I highly recommend Mr. Beck for his exemplary professionalism, expertise, and efficiency as an attorney.

I would recommend giving your finances to any other firm besides this one. I expect way better for people that are taking so much of my money.

This is regarding one of their attorneys-Jeffrey Frasier!…read moreWhen my husband first contacted Jeff Frasier about our situation, Jeff told us that "we have a strong case." Based on the information and confidence he provided during that initial phone call, we decided to move forward with him. Unfortunately, we were led on for nearly two years before going to trial. Throughout that time, Jeff repeatedly told us that we would "get something" from the case. He continued contacting us by phone and email asking for additional information about the situation, and we continued being billed for his time. Nearly a year after the lawsuit began, we met with him once to go over what to expect with the arbitration process. As someone with no prior experience suing anyone or dealing with attorneys, I relied heavily on my attorney to properly prepare and guide us. Unfortunately, that meeting left me with even more questions and did not make me feel prepared for what was ahead. Jeff then sent a junior attorney to handle the arbitration. In our experience, she appeared inexperienced and unprofessional. She essentially sat in the room with us during the arbitration, and we were billed for her time and presence, which was very concerning to us. After nearly two years of legal bills, we finally went to trial. Unfortunately, Jeff did not appear prepared or knowledgeable about our case. During the trial, he stumbled through his presentation and became frustrated. At one point, the judge even told him that he was repeating himself. On the second day of trial, the judge issued a directed verdict, meaning the judge ruled in favor of the other side because our side had not presented enough evidence to support our claim. The outcome was extremely devastating, especially after being told at the beginning that we had a "strong case." After nearly two years, substantial legal fees, stress, and time invested in this case, we were left feeling that we had not received the preparation, guidance, or representation we expected from our attorney. In the end, we walked away with absolutely nothing--except huge legal bills. I am sharing our experience because potential clients deserve to hear what our experience was like before deciding whether to hire Jeff Frasier. Based on our experience, we do not recommend him.
