Exceptional experience with Scott. We hired Scott to repair an, Asian motif, solid wood bedroom…read moreset. There was serious damage to the original, highly custom stain finish on the dresser and a nightstand. Scott showed up to return the repaired furniture precisely on time on the promised completion date with the dresser and the nightstand. When he set it back down in the bedroom alongside the rest of the bedroom set, he acknowledged what we already new. The color was slightly off and the shine did not match. He immediately announced that he was taking the items back to his shop to achieve perfection. He returned the next day and the repairs were, in fact, done to perfection. As if that wasn't enough, while he was returning the furniture, I asked him about a small damage to our laminate wood flooring. He made the repair on the spot and did not ask for any additional money. FOR US THERE IS NO ATTRIBUTE OF GREATER IMPORTANCE THAN KNOWING THAT THE PERSON OR COMPANY THAT WE ARE DOING BUSINESS WITH WILL ALWAYS MAKE THINGS RIGHTS, IN THE EVENT THAT IT DOESN'T INITIALLY TURN OUT EXACTLY THE WAY WE WANTED. This is the same reason why we almost exclusively do our online shopping with Amazon. For the last 19 years, including several thousand transactions, they never failed to make things right whenever there was an occasional problem. Scott also exercised prudent care in protecting our floors and ensuring that nothing was damaged when carrying the furniture in and out of our home. We very highly recommend doing business with Palmer's Refinishing 803 283 8111.

Fabulous Floors Columbia - Failure to match...

I contacted Matt from Fabulous Floors on November 28, 2022, to discuss hiring them to refinish our…read morefloors. The job was to start on December 19 and end three to five days later. This is why we reserved a hotel room for the max number of days-5. First, because we were given a quote online and not in person, the price changed once they got on-site. The hired cntractors-middle men- sent a video to Matt allegedly showing our floors were uneven. As a result, they went up by 1.25 per square foot. Plus, they would have to sand floors three times rather than two. It's not like we could've gone with anyone else at such short notice because we removed our carpet and many of the staples. We were told they would remove the staples; however, they shaded them down. So we were charged additional money just for them to shave, not remove staples, as we agreed. On day one, the subcontractors left early after only sanding once. They said they had another job to get to and "promised" they would be back on day two and would be there "all day" They applied the wood filler. However, the wood filler wasn't consistently placed on the gaps. There were some placed on various-sized gaps ranging from large to small. When my husband and I inspected the floors, we saw small areas that were not filled. On day 3, we asked the subcontractors to fill the gaps. They called Matt, who then called us. He told us the reason why they were not filling the gaps. Because they were "large," the seal would break if applied. Because he never stepped into our house to examine the floors for himself, he could not see the inconsistency of even the smaller gaps. After they agreed to do that, they applied the stain. They never applied a second coat of stain before applying the first coat of polyurethane. After half a day, they left and said they would not return until Friday. Friday came around, and no workers. Matt said they decided to wait until Monday because they want t make sure the floor is cured 100% The issue is that one. They increased the price after only seeing a video. 2, the subcontractors left early all three days. The third day was a little under a half because of the polyurethane coat. Three, we're displeased because the subcontractors did not show up and didn't call either. When I messaged Matt, I was told they would be back four days later on Monda because they decided they wanted the floors to be dry and 100% cured. This is without them coming to check. Clearly, their subcontractors had a bigger job they needed to get to. Even after all of this, the part that disappointed me the most was Matts's lack of effort to make this not right but better. We are paying over 100 a day for a hotel. Not once did he offer to take money off so to help us, especially when it was his contractors who caused the delay. As a result, our holiday will not be as merry as we hoped.

This company offers to repair and resurface countertops. We received an estimate from the…read morefranchisee in May 2015 after he brought hardened samples of what the finished product would look like. The samples give the impression that the resurfacing material is harder and thicker than it is in reality. The job was scheduled several weeks in advance and the day before they were to arrive, they company rescheduled due to a mechanical problem with the technician's vehicle. The job was rescheduled. On that day, the technician arrived late. We were told that it was due to a traffic accident. The technician spent the first couple of hours repairing the loose laminate on our countertops and the next 9 hours applying the spray-on coating. The actual material resembled Krylon stone fleck spray paint (which you can buy at any home improvement store or Wal-mart for less than 1/10th the cost) with a protective polyurethane coating on top of it. The technician had to come back the next week to touch up a spot he missed and clean up the mess that was left on the top of some cabinet doors and drawers. He late again. Once again we were told by the office it was due to an traffic accident, yet when the technician arrived, he denied any traffic problems. This started our distrust of the company and our reevaluation of whether this product would hold up to its 2 year warranty. The technician did the touch up, but did not remove the residue from the cabinet doors or drawers. Most likely it was b because he couldn't. If the product is really only a Krylon-like paint, then once it dries on wood, it's can't be removed without stripping the cabinets. In either case, fast forward to mid-September - the laminate repair failed. A piece of laminate that had been repaired came off the countertop this evening. We were told once the repair was made, the coating would seal it, but that didn't happen because the coating is too thin to seal anything. (it is literally nothing more than spray paint). You can also still see the original seams of the countertops (one of the claims made by the company is the product is seamless). I could have spray painted the countertops for about $75 using Krylon stone fleck paint from Walmart, so as you can imagine, the $1,200 we paid doesn't seem legit. We would rate this company zero stars, but Yellow Pages.com requires we give it at least one star to post the review.

I am very satisfied with the service that I received at Carolina Upholstery. I contacted the…read morebusiness via Yelp and promptly received a reply providing overview of rates and an offer to make an appointment. I took.some of the furniture with me to be assessed. I will say the cost was very expensive (to me), but this is not a gripe considering I have never had upholstery done before. Justin (owner) was very nice during the consultation and straightforward. He showed me the fabric samples , explained the price ranges and allowed me to select what I wanted without attempting the least bit of sway towards fabric that were not within my $$ range. I felt very at ease during the selection process. There is a wide variety of fabrics to choose from, but if you have a price range/fabric type it can be easily narrowed down. Thankfully, it did not take me long to decide on what I wanted. A deposit is required to make the appointment for service (after the consultation). There was a wait period of approximately 6 weeks from my consult to drop the furniture (1 accent chair + 4 dining) off for service due to there being no appointments available, which was no issue for me. He estimated that he would have my furniture 1-2 weeks. One week later all of my pieces were ready and looking gorgeous! My large accent chair had some slight instability with one of the legs which Justin had noticed during the consultation. He had planned to repair without extra charge. However, within a few days of having the chair he called and told me that the instability wasn't quite what he'd expected and that it would be $45 additional to repair. I asked him if he was 100% certain this would resolve it and he answered honestly, telling me that he was only 5% certain. I definitely appreciated his honesty and declined to have that part repaired. All of the pieces that I had upholstered were secondhand pieces to me. Therefore I do not know the original monetary values. However, getting this makeover for the pieces has added value & done a lot for the aesthetics of my home. I'm very glad that I did it. If I ever decide to get anything reupholstered again or know of anyone seeking this type of service I would undoubtedly use again/recommend Carolina Upholstery.
