A nice, modern station within easy walking distance of the historic old part of Cordoba. I'm a fan.

We took a train from Malaga to Seville, and it had no water and no toilet paper. Who is responsible…read morefor the up keep of these trains? I thought this was the worst train experience I have ever had. And when I asked the woman on the train how do we wash our hands she said you can't. If you need to poop you better hold it or not take the train. I will never take public transportation in Spain. It is also very difficult to understand and I speak Spanish.

The small station is located northeast of the major attractions e.g. the New Bridge and the Bull Ring. We went straight out of the station and walked along the Nida Martinez Astein perpendicular to station on Av Andalusia; turned right on Avenida de Malaga; all the way to the end to reach our two primary attractions we came to see. There is a tourist info center right there. Touring done by 1300. With plenty of time to spare we stopped at a nice, casual restaurant called Las Maravillas for coffee beer and salad. Thinking there's an earlier train to Malaga (nada!) we returned to the station by 1420 and ended up drinking more beer and coffee to while away time before we could board the train. We noted the bus station and a supermarket (bottled water) are a short walk to the right when you exit the train station. Perhaps buses may have great scheduling flexibility. Or wander around to visit more sights.

The Spanish national train system. What a let down after…read morethe train in Italy last year. Just as costly and does not go to every good sized town or city. There was zero cafe service and a broken vending machine that stole a two euro coin from me. It's fast, but so are all the trains here. It also just didn't feel as clean as the Italian lines. We ended up renting a car to go to Tarifa and it was only $21/a day with the full coverage insurance through Expedia for a little gas efficient car. The fate from Sevilla to Córdoba by comparison - @150 euro for both of us.

The Medium Distance trains are sleek looking, clean and relatively quiet. The Seville to Malaga train departed Estacion San Justa, a clean modern station right on time. It made many stops along the way. Then half way to Malaga the conductor announced in Spanish (he held up iPad with English translation) that due to technical issue we had to switch trains in Osana. Turned out as soon we exited they used the same train to take another group of passengers back to Seville while we scrambled with our luggage crossing the track to the south bound platform and board another train. That was puzzling. The Malaga Maria Zambrano station was even more impressive. We took s day trip train to Ronda. Apparently only 1 daily round trip. 1000-1600. We finished our sightseeing in much less time but ended sitting the Ronda station cafeteria. We will try renfe again in the future.
