There is a Petro-Canada convenience store there but I don't buy anything from there because of their higher prices. This location is large with many self-serve pumps, is clean and bright at night. The only negative is you usually get a person begging for money. I encounter them about 60% of the time I'm there. They are harmless. Another negative is their prices are always at the recommended limit, never lower. I gas gift cards, etc. The points can also be transferred to other things like CAA dollars. If you link other loyalty programs to It, you will receive 20% more points.

In the store, the focus is on cold drinks, auto accessories and thing like hats & gloves - not much snacks or grocery items compared to bigger Shell or Esso. However they do always have Sesame Snaps in stock - sometimes this is the only place within 5 km of my building where I can find Sesame Snaps at night! They also carry cheap, effective old school auto glass products Rain Vision & NeverFog which a lot of big gas stations don't sell anymore. Washroom is very basic but never nasty and it's always open. Note that at last check, Ultramar is not listed as a Top Tier gas seller. I'm not sure if this is due to not meeting the voluntary Top Tier standard for purity & detergency - though more likely not wanting to pay the costs of participating. Either way, just to be on the safe side I wouldn't suggest using Ultramar on a frequent basis if you have BMW, Audi or VW or any recent car with Direct Inection and/or Turbo technology (( though ironically you WOULD come here to get top-off oil for those cars because they sell synthetic Total in a wide range of grades you wouldn't find at most gas stations...)) Also note this station is built on somewhat of a raised mound, the driveways have a steep angle which can make for rough entry/exit for cars with regular or lower round clearance. If you're not driving a SUV or truck, you should take the entrances slowly & diagonally.

However, like the other gas stations that tends to offer lower than average prices, this ESSO will sometimes higher than average price , depending on the time of the day it is. Later that same day, I saw it posted for 118.9, but it was also 1:30am (with no change to the average price of gas from the previous day). But, I think it's the reason they're able to offer their previously lower price. I was surprised to see there were cars at the pumps at that price. Think Uber surge pricing on Saturday night. It does not have a car wash, but it's definitely worth the visit if you're in the area.
