I was a patient at McNeil Dental for several years, and unfortunately my experience there became…read moreextremely disappointing. One of the worst situations happened when I went in to have a painful tooth looked at and was told I urgently needed a root canal on my molar. I was already in the chair, in severe pain and literally in tears, while Dr. McNeil spent about 45 minutes discussing the situation before eventually telling me she could not perform the procedure because it was the end of the day. It was a Friday, and despite calling it an emergency, the earliest they could get me back in was the following week. Thankfully, another dentist was able to squeeze me in the very next day and completed the root canal without issue. What has been even more upsetting is what I later discovered about the crowns I had done there. I'm young, have always maintained excellent dental hygiene, and noticed that ever since getting two upper crowns done, both sides of my mouth would bleed heavily. I brought up my concerns and was repeatedly told everything looked normal on X-rays. A year later, I saw a new dentist who immediately identified major problems with the crown work. I was told there were gaps around the crowns that allowed bacteria and infection to form underneath. I now have two infected crowns and have been informed that every crown done at this office needs to be redone -- only about a year after having them placed. I specifically invested in getting extensive dental work completed while I had good insurance because I believed this office was reputable. Looking back now, I feel extremely let down by the level of care, attention, and quality of work I received.

She cancelled my routine dental cleaning twice and refused to schedule a dental treatment which was recommended by dr McNeil. I've called 4 times in the past month trying to get it scheduled and even asked that front desk lady to have dr McNeil call me to figure out why it's been so challenging just to be scheduled for a simple procedure. Today when I called again, she laughed at me and was rather disrespectful. I've never experienced such a bad customer service before.

I was in tremendous pain and I got a same day appointment. There was no waiting!! Of all the dental offices I have visited in Pittsburgh and Fox Chapel area over the years, this is not just the most efficiently run office with caring staff but also the best office. It is obvious as soon as you set foot in the office that they really care about your satisfaction. Highly recommend Kaur Dental of Fox Chapel.

I knew it was a tooth infection because painkillers were not helping at all. After having an X-ray done, they said it wasn't my tooth at all, but a canker sore on my gums causing the pain. They literally sent me home with the advice to "wait it out" (7-21 days) and "use Oragel" for the pain.... Mind you, I was in WRITHING pain. I felt like they didn't care at all. I got to my car and was sobbing in pain. I went directly to a health clinic and they confirmed the canker sore, but also gave me some antibiotics to actually HELP clear it up. But even after that, I was experiencing pain in my tooth. Two days later I went and got a second opinion at a different dentist... turns out there WAS a tooth infection after all!! I am now on a second round of antibiotics. Btw, the infected tooth was a tooth I got work done on about 18 months ago at THEIR office. Overall, I felt like this office did not do a thorough job and left me feeling hopeless and in severe pain. I personally would not recommend this dentist. There are much nicer and more professional offices out there!

I had a very disappointing experience at this dental office. My appointment started poorly when the…read moredentist arrived 45 minutes late. After beginning the procedure and applying numbing gel, the dentist stopped , saying they needed to "double-check if my fillings were covered." I was then left in the chair for an extended period while overhearing staff scrambling to figure out how to charge me. I already knew my fillings were 100% covered by my insurance (Aetna), so I called Aetna directly and placed a patient advocate on speakerphone to clarify. I walked the front desk (bib still on and mouth numb) and instead of engaging professionally with the insurance representative, both the dentist and receptionist only addressed me, ignoring the representative's questions. When the rep attempted to call the office directly, the line failed repeatedly she even asked if their phone line might be blocked, which from past experience may have been the case since their line is always busy or had a dead end dial tone. The insurance representative confirmed on the spot that my fillings were fully covered and offered to send an explanation of benefits. Despite this, the dentist canceled my appointment, stating I'd have to reschedule after a pre-authorization was approved which was unnecessary for the procedure. It became clear that because my plan is a DMO, where the office already receives monthly payments for enrolled patients, they were attempting to delay or avoid providing a covered service they wouldn't profit from. To make matters worse, as I was leaving, I overheard staff discussing me as if I were the problem simply because I refused to agree to unnecessary charges. This experience felt unprofessional, misleading, and unethical. I would strongly recommend seeing another practice. They certainly were not my first choice but this late in the year it's hard to find an opening. Other patients ...especially those with DMO insurance verify coverage directly and be cautious about potential upcharges AND misinformation.
