I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch. Since working with her, my sleep has completely transformed. I went from having an extremely hard time falling asleep and waking up almost every hour, to now pretty much sleeping through the night. If I do wake up, I can fall back asleep easily, and I'm even dreaming a lot which I take as a sign I'm finally getting deep, restful sleep. I have such a "love-hate" relationship with Spalight. When they first opened, this place was an…read moreabsolute dream--meticulously clean, welcoming, and my go-to spot to totally reset. Unfortunately, the facility has hit a bit of a decline lately. What used to be impeccably dry, clean floors are now prone to dust and hairballs, and it's gotten so wet in the wet sauna areas that they've just started putting out "caution" signs instead of actually keeping it dry. I've seen quite a few people slip. Even the "unlimited" towel perk has been downgraded to a strict two-towel limit, and the food portions and quality have shrunk exponentially compared to the cost they charge it at. That being said, there is one major saving grace: the Korean auntie who does the body scrubs. She is an absolute legend and deserves a massive raise for everything she puts up with! She's the main reason the experience still feels somewhat authentic and worth driving to. The rooms are also on the smaller side, so if you go during peak hours, it's definitely more "crowded" than "calm." Honestly, the only reason I still make the trip is that it's the only K-spa within a reasonable driving distance from Boston. If there were more local options, I'd probably skip the decline here and head straight to NJ or NYC for a higher-quality experience. It's still a decent option if you're desperate for a scrub and a soak without the four-hour drive, but I really miss the high standards they had at the beginning.
