First Atlantic Restoration - This is all that was done

First Atlantic Restoration

If you have a home emergency I would definitely recommend choosing another restoration company…read more I've had 2 different projects done. One was at my rental property, the second at my primary residence. When a new tenant moved into the rental property we found many things that weren't done correctly, some that cost me a large amount of money. Thank goodness there was a new project manager, who corrected many of the problems caused for the last project manager. There was a huge amount of leaking when my tenant took a bath. It caused water damage in both adjacent bathrooms. The master bath floor was to be taken down to the studs in the insurer payment. It wasn't. When the hall bathroom flooded, the workmen found asbestos that has been covered by layers of tile. My question was if the adjacent bathroom floor had been removed to the studs, wouldn't asbestos have been found there too? The Project Manager admitted Yes. Asbestos was then found. The company covered the asbestos removal in that one bathroom but not the other. If they had done the work correctly the first time they would have known both bathroom floors were the same. Then the source of the tub leak had to be found. The plumbing under the house wasn't going to the city's connection. More big bucks for me. The new project manager did correct some issues that the now no longer employed Project Manager didn't correct. He couldn't believe that he actually took the new toilet I ha recently replaced & replaced it with a cheap one. I saw it & said "Where is my toilet?" The next day what I thought was my toilet has been returned,. But when I tried it the lid wasn't solid like the one I had recently bought. My theory was that he was running his own business on the side & skimming from First Atlantic & its customers When I had a pipe break at my primary residence I panicked & called First Atlantic. To my chagrin they assigned that same Project Manager. On hindsight I should have requested someone else. I later learned that he was sub contracting work to companies not used by First Atlantic. They had to remove the tile from my master bathroom floor to mitigate the water damage. It was obviously not done correctly. A few years ago I had my front door removed. The stud it was connected to, which was directly under the worst of the water leak, was so rotten that it crumbled into pieces. The tile company didn't shield the bathroom correctly while they ground away the inches of hard insulating material under the tile. My vanity, closet & bedroom were coated with the residue. I had to throw many things away. When the cleaners he hired were asked about cleaning the area they indicated their instructions were to clean a path from the VA bathroom and down the front staircase . I later learned that First Atlantic has their own cleaning crew that would never have said that. I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that even with personnel changes, I would never hire this company again.

Drywall was removed and replaced quickly. The finish job looks better than the original. Matched…read morepaint very well. Definitely would hire them again. Great job done by Eric!

Jim Hicks Home Improvement - Beware DO NOT HIRE this…read morecompany. From the reviews I've read and my own experience, it appears he has been getting away with signing contracts, taking people's money, and not being held accountable. Use EVERY platform and agency to file complaints, report, and expose him! DPOR, FTC, BBB, TICTOC, FB, ECT! RECORD EVERTHING! I hired Jim Hicks Home Improvement after water damage left my home uninhabitable. Contract: $27,808.33, with a $4,171.25 retainer paid. Since then, I've experienced delays, miscommunication, and a lack of professionalism. Jim refused to finalize the scope of work, clarify vague "per bid" items, or provide material allowances before demanding more money. He submitted inflated estimates to my insurance company--up to $10,000 more than our contract--while offering me low-grade carpet under $1.50/sq ft. A subcontractor told me, "I know what I'm charging Jim, but I don't know what Jim is charging you... it's a business." He ignored calls, stuck to short emails, and dismissed my concerns as "emotional" or "overreacting." He also used derogatory language, calling his own subcontractor a "redneck." His lack of urgency and transparency has jeopardized my ability to return home. BEWARE

I wish I could leave a negative 100. I was lied to over and over again. I was charged for…read moreservices they weren't allowed to charge me for as per home warranty service. I was charged for a pressure tank I was told was new that was actually used according to a different plumbing company who I had to call to fix the installation correctly. I was told the gas water heater didn't need to be inspected. A lie. County inspection supervisor stated it did. It failed inspection. The pressure tank was installed horizontal instead of veritical with no support. They installed black steel nipples which caused rusty water every day. They installed temporary "shark bite" fittings which are to used as temporary fittings and they installed a shutoff valve on the hot water line instead of the cold water line according to the replacement plumber needed to fix the installation. They shut off the water line outside at the curb but then turned the water back on BEFORE being in contact with the water heater. Water flooded our master bathroom in less than 3 minutes. Their excuse was the drip pan didn't dispense the water quick enough because it was plugged up. This is a ridiculous lie. Drip pans are for small leaks and drips; not incompetent installations. The home warranty company, our home insurance adjuster, the inspector, the inspector's supervisor, the replacement plumber who actually fixed the screw ups and CWP's insurance adjuster ALL state it was their fault. The damage caused over $10,000 in damages. I wouldn't trust this company to install a straw for my coke.
