We went to twinys looking for quick bite to eat under $20 and it was a hard search unfortunately (we were tired of quick meals at coop and migros). And twinys really came to our rescue. It's a food stand so everything there is to go and there is no where to sit. The staff was very friendly, one of my friends had a food allergy and they had no issues whatsoever adjusting his sandwich accordingly. I got the chicken sandwich, their staple sandwich and I was a big fan. Would recommend getting the twiny sauce and the garlic sauce as well. Was quite a flavorful sandwich and the staff even added extra pickles after I joked it. The bread is nice and crispy and the chicken came out hot. My friends loved their salami sandwich. I would note that the sandwiches can be a bit messy, we had a few bread crumbs and pieces of lettuce fall out while eating and the sauce does start to drip. We ended up coming back for more sandwiches later in our trip as our go to quick eat spot that is inexpensive. If you are looking for a bite without spending a fortune in Lucerne would recommend a visit!

It's a takeout window. Easy to order and food was ready quickly. I ordered the large chicken schnitzel with garlic sauce and a side of pommes for 20 CHF. Served on a baguette, the sandwich had multiple cutlets of schnitzel throughout. They go heavy on the sauce and Im here for it! The sandwich was filling but a little messy. The fries were good, nothing remarkable, but good old heated up precut frozen fries. We took our food down to the water and ate on a bench. It was great. In fact, we were so full from our sandwiches we decided to skip our sit down dinner a couple hours later.

ANYWAY, as it is now towards the end of my trip, I'm hungry, and I love street food, so what better way to spend my last few swiss franc coins than a german sausage at the food stand in the main train station of Zurich? Oops, forgot I was in Switzerland and the 2 FR coins will do you no good. The chilliwurst I got here was about 6.50 FR, which is actually pretty darn cheap. Thank goodness I still had some EUR left on me, and they took it with 1:1 exchange, which is no longer a rip-off. I guess good things do come out of that Swiss Franc move. They have a selection of food at Buffet Express, but a tiny stand just for sausages. You get to pick different types of bread, and I opted for the one that already had a hole in the centre, specially made for wursts. The guy squeezed some ketchup into the hole, took the chiliwurst off the grill, and slipped it in (I feel like there's a joke here somewhere). The good: chiliwurst was very tasty and filling...and actually a bit spicy!!! The not so good: the ketchup shoots out from the bottom every time you take a bite at the top, and the only thing eating that ketchup is your coat. Overall, I was happy with my selection. P.S., I did walk around oldtown later to see what I can buy for 6.50 food-wise, and I only found sausages, so if you are hungry after you get off the train, I suggest you don't shy away from Buffet Express.

We often have this problem with food in North America but this is the first time we've experienced it in a European restaurant, which is probably indicative of some pesticide or other impurity in the food. Unfortunately, the service was also poor. We waited some time for someone to acknowledge us and nearly 20 minutes after we finished our food before being asked if we wanted coffee. After declining the coffee we continued to wait for the cheque until I finally gave up and went inside to pay.

Potato pancakes with mushrooms, the salmon lox with potato pancakes, and the pork medallions. All three of these where very well prepared and all three people noted how great they tasted. The pricing is ridiculously fair. The dinning room is very neat and clean. The wait staff professional and prompt. Bottom line. Go. Great all around.
