This time I was visiting on Saturday and gladly it was open! The menu is exciting, but unfortunately, not all dishes can be made gluten free. I just wanted something simple, so I went with a slice of gluten free toast and a flat white. The thick toast was amazing and so was the homemade jam that came with it. My husband and son enjoyed their meals too (although they didn't have a kid's menu). I'd definitely come here again, but I do think the prices are very steep.

I ordered the homemade pumpkin bread topped with cherry tomato confit, sliced avocado, sunflower sprouts and feta cheese topped with the most PERFECTLY poached egg I've ever had. It was moorish and filling! (My date had the salmon eggs Benedict and also had rave reviews!) Their hot chai latte with soy milk was also probably one of the best I've ever had. Their indoor-outdoor patio is cozy and comfortable and had a lovely calm ambience. If you're looking for a tasty and affordable breakfast without the wait or the "scene", this place is worth checking out! It should definitely be in the top 5 breakfast spots in Byron Bay.

Honestly, I wasn't sure what they could offer me I could find some place else. Leaf & Grain is not huge, there aren't a great deal of seats, and the place next door is well known. What I was surprised by was the quality of food produced and the raw authenticity it seems to be made with. The people that work there have a passion for food that magically translates into taste. I went for the bacon and egg roll. It was on the top of their blackboard and promised things I've never tried -- maple bacon, beetroot relish. What a treat! The food is served in unpretentious take-away boxes that matches the nonchalant vibe of the place. It's just raw and authentic, the Byron way. The coffee is also decent. It's worth popping in and trying their food. Small, intimate, just don't take your whole family because they probably won't all fit.
