I think this is my new favorite SY location in Nashville! I was in the area for an appointment and…read moredecided to bring my laptop along to check out this location and get some work done. Since then, I've been back a few more times because this is just such a great spot to knock out your to-do list! Every Switchyards has a different vibe, and the Berry Hill location is gives retro office space. There's not as much natural light at this location compared to others in town (especially Eastwood), but it's got lots of space to spread out and is rarely busy. There's one club room available to rent, along with four phone booths. As with all SY locations, the coffee and stroopwafels are plentiful. There's a small parking lot attached, and tons of free street parking as well, which feels like a luxury in Nashville these days.

I'm a starving teacher (not literally, but you know, I'm mindful with my money since I'm not rolling in the dough), so the 100 dollar a month membership fee scared me. I live in a tiny apartment with no desk space and a very needy pup so I need some place to do work and going to Starbucks has been getting pricey and too loud. This place checks off all the boxes. There are spaces to work with others but also be left alone. There's tons of coffee and tea (with creamer and sugar!) and water (with lemon), as well as stroopwaffles to keep that blood sugar pumping. I'll probably be here often and regularly now, and if you need a good study spot/ work spot I highly recommend

I'm a big fan of Switchyards, and this location is Nashville's newest! It's a bit smaller than some…read moreof the others (though it's also true that Eastwood is enormous) - and does not have a Library area. Even still, it's right in the heart of West Nashville, with a large FREE parking lot right behind the building. Like other local Switchyards locations, Sylvan Park is decorated to emulate a cozy college library. I love the coffee/tea stations, and of course the easy-to-devour Stroopwafels. There are four phone booths here where you can take a call if needed, though you do need to reserve times online through your account (and it's limited to two hours a day per member). If you're in need of a space where you can get away and be extremely productive, I highly recommend Switchyards!

The couches and lamps are cozy…read more Essentially, Switchyards is members-only lounge seating (in the manner of a coffee shop) where you're expected to be working on a laptop. The coffee and tea stations are machines with high quality and local sources, and cream is available in the mini fridge. Coffee and tea are free and unlimited. The personal recommendation from the welcome staff at a sneak-peak orientation and from myself would be to not work here 8-5 but rather choose a couple hours of the day when maybe you're low on meetings or looking for a coffee break to relax in a warm neighborhood setting with likeminded professionals. This Switchyards location immediately neighbors Richland Park in the Sylvan Park neighborhood. I-40 ramps are just 1 block away. I'd recommend the free parking by the Richland Park tennis courts. At least two private call booths are available in addition to at least one meeting room. Switchyards locations are not manned but rather self-sign in. Most memberships are $100/month although you may get coupons via email or USPS mailers for $50/month for a period of time. You can always pay a small fee for a shorter trial. Every membership gives you 24/7 access to all Switchyards around the country (currently in the southeast) although memberships are capped (in this case, 250 people) at your "home" neighborhood location. For the membership price of $100 per month, you can consider the value of the free caffeine and change in environment. Because I have a job where it's highly useful to have multiple monitors and an ergonomic desk set up, going to Switchyards isn't as advantageous as it is for other industries where working from a coffee shop may be a no-brainer positive environment.

It's so odd that I am the first to review this space. Places like Deavor are going to become more…read morecommon as Nashville grows. If you're one of the ever-increasing number of young entrepreneurial folks who are starting to make the Music City your home, get in line and nab some space at your new spot for working during the week and hosting meetings. Don't get me wrong, coffee shops still have their time and place but a coffee shop's primary purpose is to serve coffee and allow folks to hang out. Having a meeting or trying to get work done is a nice byproduct but you're as likely to annoy coffee shop patrons with your jibber jabber and not be able to discuss the sensitive information that tends to come up in business meetings. You need an office. But you don't need an office every day. You need a co-working space. Deavor might be what you need. Set on the border between Downtown and Germantown, the contemporary loft space is quite convenient to a good chunk of the city. With ample parking in the parking lot, you won't have to hunt down street parking or worry about permits. Once you enter, you get to check out the high ceilings, cool tables and interesting space/design of your home away from home. The private meeting rooms make having sensitive conversations easy as well as impressing your meeting partners with your savvy. If you're just looking for work space, the long wooden tables and comfy office swizzle chairs have you covered. And, if you just have to satisfy that coffee itch, you'll be happy to know that there's a big azz coffee machine with cups. There might even be a kegerator but you didn't hear that from me. There's also event space, security (you can't just walk in/out of the space), water, break room, printing/copying, and the all-important wifi. So, how can all this be yours? Membership. As stated above, you can't just walk in/out of Deavor. You need to have a membership. Membership operates on three levels -- from the casual to the new business. The space offers tours so that you can check out how it best suits your needs. I don't know that I could ever give up working from home but if I needed the formality of a co-working space, Deavor would be a nice home. Until then, I am more than happy to be the invited guest of members.
