    WELD - Creative Mornings!

    WELD

Disclaimer: I have never used WELD professionally, but I have a few friends who have worked out of…read morethe space for years and I've visited. To the untrained eye, WELD may seem like a WeWork, but it's so much more. It is slightly more expensive than WeWork for a space, but here are the benefits: 1) A creative community- The people who make up WELD are some of the most creative people in Nashville. You have a famous podcaster, a personality test tech company, a photographer, and so many more people creating beauty out of ashes. It's an inspiring place to be and you can bounce ideas off of these smart minds. 2) Free studio- There's a giant white room that you can use for free if you're a member for photo shoots and/or video shoots. WeWork doesn't offer that! 3) The space- It's beautiful and in an up and coming part of town. They converted shipping containers into office space. 4) Free coffee- It's from CREMA and it's good. Even as WeWork moves into Nashville, WELD is the place to be if you're a creative and need a space to work.

There's a community "kitchen" complete with fridge, microwave, sink, etc. Weld offers an open environment for group work as well as individual spaces. My office used the meeting room for the day to brainstorm and develop a new software plan. Weld was a perfect spot to escape the cubicle and truly inspired us to think outside the box. The energy at Weld promotes creative thinking and helped our team accomplish our goal. Highly recommend this space for any work group! **Warning you must be a member!

    Eastwood

Remote work is thriving, and neighborhood spots like Switchyards make it so much more enjoyable…read more Everything is intentional - from the layout to the decor to the coffee selection. Each location is a bit different, but they're all reminiscent of a vintage college library in the best way. It's the perfect setting for a productive day. There are five Switchyards locations in Nashville, and I believe this is the OG (but please correct me if I'm wrong). I do think Eastwood is my favorite of the bunch, and it's because of all the natural light. It's also right next to The Yellow Table Café, which is the perfect spot for a light lunch in between meetings. Butterlamp is also nearby, if you're in need of a glass of wine after a long day at the "office." Memberships are $100 a month, and that includes 24/7 access to all Switchyards locations ... along with all the coffee and Stroopwaffels you care to enjoy. It's comfortable, convenient, and affordable ... everything a co-working space should be!

This is my favorite switchyards location. The problem? It's everyone else's too. This place seems…read moreto always be busy and the parking here is rough. So many cool hidey holes and places to get your work done ( may I suggest the southwest upstairs heads down room?!) the tea and coffee always hit hard and when this place is empty is really one of the coolest spots in Nashville. This place screams what I think East Nashville thinks it is- purposeful gentrification. They have done beautifully at renovating and repurposing the old church into a space where people can meet and connect and get work done. I've gone multiple times and not been able to find anywhere to sit so for that it loses a star BUT no one's perfect, this location makes your membership feel worth every penny

    Sylvan Park

I'm a big fan of Switchyards, and this location is Nashville's newest! It's a bit smaller than some…read moreof the others (though it's also true that Eastwood is enormous) - and does not have a Library area. Even still, it's right in the heart of West Nashville, with a large FREE parking lot right behind the building. Like other local Switchyards locations, Sylvan Park is decorated to emulate a cozy college library. I love the coffee/tea stations, and of course the easy-to-devour Stroopwafels. There are four phone booths here where you can take a call if needed, though you do need to reserve times online through your account (and it's limited to two hours a day per member). If you're in need of a space where you can get away and be extremely productive, I highly recommend Switchyards!

This Switchyards is well decorated with vintage local artifacts. The couches and lamps are cozy…read more Essentially, Switchyards is members-only lounge seating (in the manner of a coffee shop) where you're expected to be working on a laptop. The coffee and tea stations are machines with high quality and local sources, and cream is available in the mini fridge. Coffee and tea are free and unlimited. The personal recommendation from the welcome staff at a sneak-peak orientation and from myself would be to not work here 8-5 but rather choose a couple hours of the day when maybe you're low on meetings or looking for a coffee break to relax in a warm neighborhood setting with likeminded professionals. This Switchyards location immediately neighbors Richland Park in the Sylvan Park neighborhood. I-40 ramps are just 1 block away. I'd recommend the free parking by the Richland Park tennis courts. At least two private call booths are available in addition to at least one meeting room. Switchyards locations are not manned but rather self-sign in. Most memberships are $100/month although you may get coupons via email or USPS mailers for $50/month for a period of time. You can always pay a small fee for a shorter trial. Every membership gives you 24/7 access to all Switchyards around the country (currently in the southeast) although memberships are capped (in this case, 250 people) at your "home" neighborhood location. For the membership price of $100 per month, you can consider the value of the free caffeine and change in environment. Because I have a job where it's highly useful to have multiple monitors and an ergonomic desk set up, going to Switchyards isn't as advantageous as it is for other industries where working from a coffee shop may be a no-brainer positive environment.
