After: New Torsion Garage Spring

When I opened the garage door in the morning I saw the pulley cables hanging from the side of my garage door. After some research it's usually from a broken Torsion Garage Spring. Its purpose is to balance the weight of the garage door so it can be opened and closed effortlessly. Without it can lead to a falling door, snapping cables, door open failure, door structural damage, even Garage Motor burn out. I'm glad I researched because I was going to leave it as is. I saw all the great reviews for ESM Garage Doors so I gave them a call. Ed answered and asked for pictures of the door and spring. He gave me a quote and told me he could be available in 2.5 hours! Ed came as promised, assessed the door, confirmed the repair to be done. Ed was polite, professional, and delivered great work. I would highly recommend! Thanks again Ed!

Broken door

Long story short, my husband and I managed to get the garage door off it's runner & bent. Edward had replaced a spring for us a year or so ago so we reached out to him again. I called him about 5 pm and he came by 10am the next day. He took a look and fixed it in less than 30 minutes with what we thought was a fair rate. Overall a very good experience!

I have a garage door that won't open how much would that cost me?

It depends on what's wrong! Eddie will not charge you for unnecessary things. He will take a very detailed look at the problem and let you know the price up front.

I initially had a very positive experience with Ernesto. I needed someone to come out quickly, and…read morehe was able to schedule me on a Sunday, which I genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, things went downhill after that. He came out, said he repaired the garage door, and left. Shortly afterward, I discovered the original problem had not been fixed. The garage door still would not close, which was the entire reason I called him in the first place. I called to let him know the issue was still happening and had him speak with my brother, who was at home at the time. He immediately suggested that I had touched or moved the sensors. I did not appreciate being blamed for the issue, especially since neither my brother nor I had touched anything. More than a week later, the garage door was still not working properly, so my brother contacted Ernesto again. He agreed to come back on Monday morning and said he would make himself available. Because of that, I stayed home waiting and rearranged my schedule, including picking up my car from the tire shop and attending a chiropractor appointment. When I called in the am to confirm his arrival time, he told me he would be there between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. By 12:40 p.m., he still had not arrived, and I had received no communication that he was running late. I called simply to let him know I needed to step out briefly and would be back around 2:30 p.m. Delays happen, and I would have completely understood if he had communicated with me. At approximately 1:20 p.m., he texted saying he was about 35 minutes away. The problem was that he already knew I would not be back until 2:30 p.m. Rather than working with the schedule I had communicated, he expected me to rearrange my day yet again after I had already spent the entire morning waiting for him. As a result, I had have my brother go to the house and accommodate a repair that should have been completed correctly the first time. What made the situation even more frustrating was his reaction. I was not upset that he was running late. I simply wanted communication. Instead of acknowledging the delay, he became defensive and started talking about how he needed to get paid on the job he was currently working on, did not want to work past 4:00 p.m., deal with traffic, or work late. None of those issues had anything to do with my call. I was simply letting him know when I would be available. He then complained that this is why he does not give customers arrival windows and said that next time he would not provide a timeframe at all. Throughout the entire conversation, I remained calm and flexible. I honestly did not care whether he came Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. My only expectation was that if he gave me a timeframe, he would either honor it or communicate if something changed. The issue was never that he was late. The issue was the lack of communication!and the defensive attitude when I tried to coordinate a solution. Waiting all morning is frustrating, but what was most disappointing was being treated as though I had done something wrong simply for asking for an update. Based on my experience, I did not appreciate the lack of professionalism, the defensive attitude, the poor communication, and the unwillingness to be flexible when scheduling issues arose. What makes this even more frustrating is that the original issue was never properly resolved, and the situation ultimately ended up creating additional inconvenience for me. Had the repair been completed correctly and communication been handled professionally, this entire situation could have been avoided.

Wow I hate when this happens... when you had an amazing experience with a company year and years…read moreago so you return and it's just night and day from the previous experience. Bummer. Our garage door was broken so we called them out. We told them we could only be home until 4pm and they gave us the window of 2-4pm. We made sure we were home during that time. Unfortunately, it was for no reason because nobody showed up or called. We called them and they said they would come tight then and only take a minute to give an estimate for the work. Well no estimate was provided and they just started the work without any communication. When I heard drilling I asked if they were going to provide an estimate or what? And the workers said, ya, it's almost done, it's $450. No approval, no paperwork, nothing. I was late to my appointment and they said we could leave them locked in the garage, but as we were going to leave they kept having to go through the house to get things from their truck. I didn't want to leave them locked in the hot garage but we really had to leave. The whole situation was so incredibly frustrating. Then the office girl called me to collect payment and made it 100 times worse. I was trying to explain to her that the process was really stressful and she said, "ok so then I'll just have them go back and undo everything they did" .... Are you serious? What kind of customer service is that? What a terrible representation for their business. Had she said, "I understand how that was frustrating. We should have come when we said we were/communicated/provided an estimate/explained what we were even doing/honestly anything? It would have been different. Things happen, I get that, but have accountability and communication. It's very very basic customer service. We paid, we're done with them, but we will never use this company again.

The tech came out to look at what i needed and said that it was too old and that they couldn't just replace the bottom panel, that they needed to replace the whole door, that's when i laughed. I asked him about the bottom seal as well when he replied that they don't make that either anymore. SO I LAUGHED again, I said alright hit me with it, what's the cost for everything you are trying to upsell me with, he said it would run about $2400 to get a new insulated door installed to my specs... I looked at him and asked him to leave. I believe that they have no intention on fixing these doors they just sent out a sales rep to get a new one sold to me. Its sad really because I would have paid a reasonable cost to get it fixed, which is what I am doing with a local smaller company. Its kind of sad because many years ago I had a great experience with this company and the installation process, the tech came out and went out his way to install the door to my request and the door works great except for the cosmetic changes i need addressed, oh well. Update: I got a local company to come and take a look at my door and see if they could knock the dent out a little and replace the bottom weatherstripping. Victor at Omar's Garage doors in Lakewood, CA. said they can replace the bottom panel and adjust the rest of the door and include new weatherstripping for $500, I said sure. He came out a couple days later with a new panel and installed it, we both thought the color would be off because the old panels were basically over 10 years old, but nope the new panel is almost perfect. So whatever you do don't call the this company find yourself a local company that will stand by the products they sell and warranty them as well.
