I was in so much pain, there would be weeks when I was in a living hell from the pain and debilitation. Dr. Matin succeeded in pulling me back from the edge of hopelessness and despair, and not only restoring my health, but adjusting my lifestyle so I live healthier and stronger than I have ever been in the past 20+ years. He was an incredible listener, asking pointed questions and listening to the circumstances around my condition for a long time (~hour), longer than any other doctor, friend, or family member had taken to consider my illness. He was not satisfied with relieving my immediate symptoms, although that was a priority. He was determined to get to the root cause. We worked together to get to the bottom of an ongoing, enigmatic, and ever-changing condition. He was able to recommend high quality lab tests, and distinguish between what was relevant and what was noise. His prognosis was not a lazy wide net cast over a variety of possible causes, but rather a sophisticated, justified, and precise treatment. He drew from a large body of knowledge of how all functions of the body worked together, and was articulate in why he was recommending each of his treatments. Combination of lifestyle changes, herbal supplements, and dietary restrictions relieved the symptoms, and I was able to wean off my dependence on pharmaceutical drugs in a mere couple of weeks. He did not just recommend tests; he recommended the most accurate, visually expressive, high grade tests from the most reliable laboratories in the US. I nearly left NYC to return home because of how debilitated I was; Dr. Matin's treatment and solutions allowed me to stay here to pursue my work and my passion with more natural energy and fervor than I had before. He was always kind, polite and sympathetic, and kept in touch frequently to make sure my condition improved. For whatever hell you are going through, please see Dr. Matin!

For almost 15 years I had suffered with unbearable hot flashes and stomach pain. I saw naturopathic…read moredoctors , internal medicine doctors, gastroenterologists with numerous endoscopies, colonoscopies, lab tests and different medication including antibiotic regimens too. None of these methods helped me fix my problems and, even worse, none of them provided any conclusive results, it was such a frustrating experience. I even tried a difficult and tortuously-strict gluten-free diet for a long period of time with no relief either. Finally I met Dr. Shamim Matin and immediately felt his goal was to simply find a source of my issues rather than get me out of the door with a new medication to "try and see how I do." He ordered 3 types of specific blood test as well as a stool test and after the results came back he sat with me and explained every small detail regarding the findings of the tests. He didn't rush through anything and truly felt motivated to educate me about my own health, an experience that I have never had at any other doctor visits. Dr. Matin was able to deduce at specific diet and supplement regimen that was based solely on MY lab results and physical examination rather than some generalization of symptoms that other doctors tried to constantly placed me into. Now after our visits, I am 6 months free of ANY problems I had before, I am a different person with no pain, no bloating, no hot flashes, more energy and I feel so healthy and happy that I was able to find a solution that actually SOLVED my problems rather than simply masked them with different meds that needed to be changed every few weeks because they didn't actually attack the source. I cannot emphasize how much of an amazing experience I had with the amount of attention and detail Dr. Matin provided me, it was the first time that I felt the doctor was as motivated as me to find a solution and it is an experience I hope every human being can have, we trust our doctors so much and to feel you're their priority when we go in with different issues is something that unfortunately has become so rare. What I learned from Dr. Matin and our visits was that certain bacteria in our guts, just like during infections, for example, can overgrow and cause a lot of different symptoms, and a lot of doctors simply give medication to control the symptoms. Dr. Matin showed me through every visit what his goal was, his reason for doing it, and also evidence and science of why and how it works to eradicate the actual source of the symptoms. Thank you so much for changing my life! I thought getting older meant learning to deal with more problems and pains, I didn't know it was possible to be completely symptom free. I wish knew you 15 years ago and didn't suffer all those years, but I am glad and hopeful that my experience can serve others going through similar chronic issues in finding a solution. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Matin for anyone that feels they have been passed around from one office to the next without any real change in their health problems.

I finally had to go to an outside doctor who was helping with several of my issues including pain management (NOT using big pharma by the way) and then, with less than 30 days notice, Provi-change-the-rules-mid-stream-dence, announced that they will no longer accept any outside network referrals. So, I was finally getting the help I so desperately needed, somewhere other than Provi-dump, only to be cut off by the devilish hacks. I used to think Kaiser was the worst but Provi-dunce is undeniably the most inept, corporate mentality (profit over everything else), scumbags I've ever dealt with in my life. She called to set up an appointment to renew a prescription for some medication related to her mental health. The office staff told her the next appointment was weeks away, so she asked if the doctor could get her a temporary prescription until then. At this point the woman she was talking to basically said she had no options and refused to help, going so far as to imply my wife was at fault for leaving it until the last minute and that the doctor's office was trying to contact her as recently as that same morning. We had no missed calls / notices on our end (not that we'd ever expect the doctor's office to *proactively* reach out to us for anything). So my wife was told by this person that she had to get by without the daily meds that help keep issues like suicidal ideation at bay for *weeks*. We addressed the issue the same day in a Vancouver Clinic urgent care appointment. The only positive thing I have to say about this one last experience with PMG is that I'm glad this gave us the opportunity to permanently cut ties with them. This place completely and utterly failed in their duty of care to my wife. The doctors and medical staff here are fantastic, nothing but good things to say once you clear the front desk. And look: mistakes happen, but the person who left my wife vulnerable should not be talking to patients. The way she handled this situation put my wife at risk and I highly doubt it was the first time PMG staff have handled things this badly. Fortunately the only "bad" outcome here was that she caused a lot of stress for both of us. This all happened about a month or two back. I looked for a way to send this complaint directly to PMG but the grievance process isn't made clear online. For all I know I'd just be sending a message to the same woman at the front desk, so I'm posting here instead. We won't be back regardless but you should know this person is putting your patients at risk.

I had to beg and wait in tears for crutches or a walker when the disk in my back became extremely swollen impacting my entire body causing extreme cramping, loosing feeling in my legs and severe knee and hip pain. I lost full motion of my joint between my leg and my pelvis. Terrible Terrible pain. I had to scoot around the house using a box. Nothing worked! Then when I had my needs neglected at Legacy in N Portland; I was forced to walk around no car in all with a foreign sharp object lodged 1 inch deep in my foot of which no one could find including a Legacy foot specialist. I limped to the store, to my child's school, to the park, and everywhere else. I had to beg for a prescription of pain killers which was not given by Legacy until I seen the specialist days later with the object still in my foot. I prefer herbal remedies over prescriptions, but I still needed the prescription. I spent the entire day calling around trying to advocate for myself the following day after being released from the emergency room. When I called I explained everything to Mississippi Health. Mind you I was never given the option to speak or arrange a time to consult my physician. Instead, I was told right off the back after explaining the horrible experience with legacy that a referral to outpatient surgery "is out of Mississippi Health Center's jurisdiction". I told them the physical in the emergency department required that I follow up with my primary. Mind you Legacy never reviewed my contacts or demographics with me. Legacy never sent over my treatment information either, which I explained. I was given podiatrist options to call and make appointments with without a referral. I ended up waiting 4 days to get the foreign object removed which was very risky and dangerous. Legacy had lied about issuing crutched to me as well. I informed Mississippi about this as well. I was told by Mississippi health that I would get call back. I did not get a call back but ended up calling and told them that they were cruel for not helping me. I was sad! They hung up on me. So its easy to tone police a person of color who is tired, scared, and desperate for services. This is a common form of micro aggression that is normalized and more than often excused. I ended up getting surgery at a different hospital after doing everything on my own. The post op appointment with Legacy consisted of a Podiatrist assistant looking at my foot for a quick minute, changing the dressing after I asked him to, then telling me the appointment was done without the Podiatrist(the expert) coming in to complete the examination and answer questions. To make matters worse, I was sent paperwork to find another provider by Mississippi Health. Even though I have already requested assistance with finding a new provider twice in the last year or so including the following day after my most recent emergency room visit. *** If you are a person of color be aware.*** I was also sent pre-surgery paperwork from legacy requesting a signature that several staff witnessed me signing. I have a picture of one (legacy does not know that I took a picture). They confiscated my form that listed my refusal to consent to vaccinations through biologics which they can place in IV's. Moving forward: I did not know that my younger sister use to be a member of Mississippi until she told me. She said she had been misdiagnosed for years until she switched providers. She lives in another state now. I spent years receiving guesstimates about conditions and had to beg for testing after doing online research and speaking with others regarding conditions. Had I not known the test names, I would not have been offered them. Medical discrimination is hardwired in policy, testing, and procedure and for this reason health care disparities exist across the board. The whole experience has been a gaslight for simple obvious needs that no one regardless of who they are or what color of skin they have should have to beg for. I am well informed and conscious about my health and I myself have worked with vulnerable populations for over 20 years serving the community so I am not anything close to how I have been treated.

I was a bit unsure however because her website doesn't say anything about where she went to school or types of TBIs she has worked with (and has some misspellings as well) but my wife encouraged me to have a chat with her and at least get another perspective. Unfortunately, the consult was primarily used for me to tell her about my TBI and she shared nothing about her experience working with people who had subdural hematomas and seemed to lump all TBIs in together. (Sorry but a concussion is not the same type of TBI as a subdural hematoma where they drilled a hole in my skull and I had to relearn to walk and talk). The only thing I could get is that she wanted to check my hormone levels (which I told her has already been done) and talk about dietary issues (which is truly irrelevant to what I'm dealing with), and then do the hard sell to get me to buy one of her packages. Even though I never scheduled an appointment at the end, before I got home 10 minutes late she'd already - without my approval - signed me up on her "patient portal" and sent me a patient questionnaire, even though I had not agreed to become her patient! I appreciate what NDs can bring to the table but if you've had a serious TBI I cannot in good conscience say that Dr Prill is ready to take on rehabilitating patients. She seems like a nice person but upon further review we found her website says she is *going to school* for "functional" neurology (FN is not the same as medical neurology and I learned it's also simply an offshoot of the chiropractic industry...not necessarily a bad thing cannot be lumped in with regular neurology whatsoever, which TBI patients should be aware of) so it's more like seeing an intern in the FN specialty of naturopathic medicine. So this review is for TBI folks, not for regular folks looking for a ND, and should be viewed as such.

At least I didn't have to get all 3 doses here since it's $63/dose + $20 office visit fee EACH time. The facilities were cleaner than I had expected. The nurse who administered my shot was really friendly. She actually introduced herself to me, which I thought was very welcoming since she was only going to be with me for the whole of 30 seconds. You could tell she catered toward immunizations for school children because of the way she "mothered" me. It was kinda cute. The woman at the front desk was nice but only to me and other English speaking individuals. It was REALLY annoying to see the disparity in the way she treated me and the Spanish-speaking family ahead of me. It really is strange to me that all the signs and pamphlets in the clinic were in English AND Spanish, but neither she nor the co-worker she called over for help knew a lick of Spanish. Why enlist the help of someone if you know they can't speak Spanish either?! AND, repeating your question slowly and loudly does not help you nor them. . .they're not deaf, they just don't understand you! It was really frustrating watching how frustrated the front desk woman was becoming and increasingly ruder. It seemed like this situation was not unfamiliar to her, yet you think someone would take it upon themselves to learn some basic Spanish, get a Spanish-English dictionary, have key questions/answers written down somewhere. Anyway, the clinic is open two days a week (usually T+Th), sometimes Sat. If you go early, the line isn't very long. I went at 1pm right when they reopened after lunch and only waited 20 minutes. Out by 1:30pm. They're moving locations to Stark St. too, fyi.
