I was looking for something that was more of a specialty item rather than what you would find in just a common corner market or liquor store. I found a couple places that carried them, but one was in San Diego and one was in Rancho Peñasquitos. Before I drove down there, I located this place, right by Major Market in Escondido, super convenient. I sent Andy, the owner a note through Yelp, and he replied promptly. He was carrying exactly what I was looking for, which was a pack Dunhill's. Not only did he carry them, he had different 4 different options of Dunhill cigarettes. An excellent spot to purchase specialty items that you are looking for when quality tobacco is what you'd like, and you can smoke inside the shop in their smoking lounge. Andy really helped me out and I even picked up another luxury smoke or two while I was there. A very pleasant experience overall, thank you so much for your efforts Andy (including popping out to wave because I missed it driving through the parking lot). read more

You're going to love this cigar lounge. First, there is an excellent selection in the humidor and the owner, Andy, is going to point you in the right direction. He recommended a Plasencia Alma Fuerte and it was a great smoke. You'll love the friendly and welcoming folks in the comfy cigar lounge. Stop by and make a new friend. read more

I don't trust the cashier with the lottery winning tickets He's quick to take the ticket and print so he can refuse to return the ticket. and if you're looking for cash, you may not get it back. But be forced to purchase another ticket. read more

Absolutely the best cigar selection hands down in the entire region, period. Andy and his family treat all customers the utmost respect and care. Crazy how this little nondescript storefront shop has fostered some of the closest friendships I have since moving here in '21. The art and romance of cigar smoking is alive and well in Escondido. No other store in the area holds a candle to the positive experience I have had at Esco Cigars! Period! read more

I have been coming here since it was called Hemingway Cigars. I'm not sure if that name was under a different owner or not, but I have always received nothing but outstanding service from this shop. I bought my first humidor from here probably 8-10 years ago and recently bought another after moving and needing a new one. In addition to the two humidors, I've also purchased hundreds of cigars as well as torches and cutters from Escondido Cigars. I have always found what I was looking for as well as received solid suggestions from the proprietor when looking for something new. I sometimes will resort to buying cigars online when buying in bulk, but typically will choose Escondido Cigars when I'm unsure of what I'm looking for and want to try something different or when I just want to support a local business. I would recommend Escondido Cigars to anyone whether you know what you like, or just want some solid recommendations. read more

Andy is always a pleasure to do business with! He knows about the products he sells and appreciates your business!

This was the first time going to this joint, but it won't be my last. Great selection, great prices, and amazing service.

These guys are terrific. For a small shop, they have an incredible humidor. Great selection of sticks, and a nice staff. If you're in Esco, and you smoke -- or want that perfect gift for Father's Day, you should stop by. Right off the I-15 freeway, so it's convenient. read more

Fantastic selection of cigars that are well maintained. It's conveniently located and has great customer service. The only thing that would improve the place would be a nice size lounge with a full bar. With his great business ethics and personality, I have no doubt Andy will achieve that too. Keep up the great work. ... and that's why I give this place a 5/5. read more

Amazing selection and very good customer service. They also have a cigar lounge available.

This place has five stars for a reason. It has on point products and really good customer service. If they don't have what you want they will get it and/or make accommodations for you. The main guy is so personable and charismatic (and good looking). I've only seen another guy there once on a weekend and he is also very nice (and good looking also) too. I think they may be father son or brothers or nephew uncle or something. Family business I think. Thank you for helping me guys and being so nice to me. I will not ever go elsewhere for the products I get here! Update to my review : I moved out of Escondido and I still drive to Escondido to shop here. Andy is probably my all time favorite person. read more

Andy is awesome and will help you find anything and everything at the best price. The only smoke and cigar shop I'd recommend

I don't smoke cigars, but a lot of my close friends do as well as my boyfriend. I have only ever received top quality service from everyone in this shop. Andy, the owner, has always made himself available, offered useful recommendations+ advice for when I'd want to purchase a cigar for my boyfriend as a gift. I actually heard about this store because all my close friends were raving about just how kind and accommodating everyone is, and their words were confirmed but the consistency of excellent customer I've received from people like Andy in this shop. So awesome, and I won't take my business anywhere else! read more

Andy went about and beyond for me and I really appreciate it! I had spent months looking for my favorite vape juice, I called endless amounts of stores and no one had it, some even told me the company does not carry it. Andy called the supplier about 3 and had it in stock for me by opening the next day! Amazing customer service read more

Real amazing ownership here, wonderful prices. I had a long horrible day. Thankfully I stopped by today cause I picked up a couple of gifts for myself and that relaxed from smoking a new favorite cigar. I want to give a BIG thank you for my new friend for the recommendation. I wish I gotten more or the box but I guess it gives me more of opportunity to visit there more. Escondido has something REAL special here!! Great ownership is one thing but to have excellent prices, huge selection that seems to always have something new in it (that's rare btw I only know of this place in ALL of San Diego. That mixes it up time to time and the only other place is in Temecula but that's not San Diego), the chairs comfortable if you want to kick it there and they have some pretty awesome events. Low key I wish he would knock the place next door and build a lounge but I don't blame him for not wanting to. This place is underrated. Not my first nor last time stopping by and I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in stock. read more

While I enjoy a swisher sweet on a regular basis, it is nice to try a "real" cigar like all good folks should. In my comings and goings at this shop, a relationship has been developed with Andy the purveyor or all things fine tobacco. His knowledge and sincere customer service is rarely witnessed and I have become a great fan of him and his store. Nothing pretentious here. He has since introduced me to a few cigars that fit my taste and have allowed me to move on from the uber sweet tasting cigars that I thought I wanted. For those others, he has great glassware collection as well Priced right with excellent service. One of San Diego county's best, certainly the "Best Of" in Escondido. read more

This place is really a find. I love this place, everyone that works here goes out of their way to make you happy. The cigars are always ready to smoke, perfect temperature and humidity. The staff is so warm and welcoming, and the prices are unmatched. On a side note; Andy, your input was gold! The OpusX is in a league of its own. I tried like hell to smoke a mi amor afterwards, but in comparison; it just doesn't measure up. Thank you for expanding my horizons! Nick, I really appreciate you going out of your way to get mi amor. I still continue purchasing them. However, I have seen the light with the Opus X. Mi amor will always be a daily smoke, but the Opus X is a special occasion. You guys are the best! -Frank, loyal customer. read more
