After a tiring but happy Chinese New Year celebration at Ongpin and a late but satisfying lunch at Wai Ying, we wanted to get dessert on the way home. A friend suggested an ice cream place in Escolta, which he said we can pass by on the way to Sta. Cruz.
Escolta Ice Cream & Snacks is under the Big Scoop brand, with ice creams served in regular scoops and big scoops. This snack shop, though, does not only sell ice cream but also sells value meals of hamburger, chicken, and fish, among others - of course, all with a scoop of ice cream. They also have pastas, sandwiches, and pies.
We looked at the ice cream options - we each could get single scoops for P30, or we could buy their ice cream creations like banana split, and even their bestseller, the Mt. Everest (which has nine scoops of ice cream).
When we asked for the bestselling ice cream flavor, though, we were told it was avocado and we wanted to try that. We just bought pints (P60+ each) for sharing so that we each could eat more ice cream for a lower price. We also tried vanilla, and it was good, but the real winner indeed was avocado, with its very rich and creamy texture. read more
