Pricing was very competitive for an escape room; expect to pay a 3 person minimum even if you have fewer than that. I decided to swing by on a whim to try my hand at a solo'ing an escape room on my way back to Vegas, and called ahead to see what my options were. Turns out, they were a great fit! I took on Secrets of the Maya, and found the room to be very well designed and clear. All the props were thematically accurate and functioned well - I can only tell it was on older room of theirs because the owner Brendan showed me some of their newer rooms, which are SHOCKINGLY high production (their Western room and submarine are both next level, and clearly par with the most premium and expensive rooms I've tried elsewhere in the country) The puzzles were intuitive, logical, and satisfying. I'm excited to try their other rooms when I make my way through St. George again! read more

Great fun! Amazingly well designed, elaborately constructed rooms and clever puzzles. We had never done an escape room before, and since this one was so reasonably priced (about $30 a person, which is unheard of where we're from) we decided to give it a try. We started with the Christmas themed room, and loved the experience so much that we ended up returning for the western themed and submarine themed rooms, all of which were excellent. The western and submarine themed rooms were shockingly fancy. They give you 20% off if you rebook with them, which was nice too. And they have a few puzzles in the waiting room to keep you entertained. Special shout out to Daniel, who made our experience extra enjoyable. We can't wait to come back for the only escape room we haven't tried -- the Mayan one-- next time we pass through St. George. read more

About thirty years ago, our family made our first coast-to-coast road trip and came across a little Utah town called St. George, which had a wonderful museum and Olive Garden, right off the I-15. Well, three decades later, and St. George has certainly come a long way indeed! Also just right off the freeway, and a mere hop, skip and jump from the whimsical treasure that is The Book Bistro (the John Wick Experience with great food and real time with no fear of interruption by knives or bullets to eat it, people!) is Escapism - the escape games business designed to take the fun a whole lot further! Parking in the very popular mall was good when we arrived, but by the time we left two hours later, it was a little tight. The lots are a little close together, and very form-fitting if you drive a vehicle larger than a compact. For our first escape room with Escapism - and yes, we plan to come back! - we chose to do the Secrets of the Maya Room. It's been a spit since we did an archaeological room, and one set in the Amazon forests and Mayan pyramids, and this Generation-2 room was actually designed for two people, so we were thrilled. Happily, we were able to make our 12pm game, right after brunch, because it was Escapism was a quick stroll on the other end of the shops. There are also nice clean single-gender toilets right between the two series of businesses, and restroom facilities (which we did not check out because we were eager to start our game) inside Escapism itself. Some escape room businesses have really cute toilets, so the plan is to check theirs out next time ... The lobby of Escapism is huge - very airy and spacious, tastefully decorated with plenty of seating for bigger groups. We were greeted quickly by Davis, who was also our game host, and he was fantastic. After we were given a quick rundown of the usual game rules, and verified ready to start, we were shown into our room. The décor in the very well-lit Secrets of the Maya room was minimalist, but thematically atmospheric, with the appropriate G2 sound effects and targeted lighting. It was easy for us to move around, and the room, perfect for 2-4 people, was comfortable also for larger groups. I was even in a sundress, because I had not expected to be playing a game, but it was a very 'civilised' solve, with no climbing or crawling, this room, and a cool respite from the heat outside. Our favourite puzzles revolved around the creature sounds and head placements, but it was quite hard to choose, because all the puzzles were fun to do. Well, except for the one, but Davis made that one fun! The value of an attentive, enthusiastic game host with a magnetic personality cannot be overstated! This was the first couple game we had played in a while that was the full hour, and we would have had to go overtime for sure, with just one puzzle left, if it wasn't for our gamemaster's help. As it was, rather than having us sweat out (literally, and not just because it was a 100-degree day) our last 15 minutes, he gave us a major hint that had us out in 42:14! The booking process was smooth, and we appreciated that our official time slotted between 12pm - 1:30pm because they give you time to sort yourselves out instead of penalising you for being late or going over time. The amount we paid was more than we had been spending on the shorter rooms, but of course, that was because we were in the room for longer! Clearly, our views are shared by others, too - as is evidenced by the huge group that came in right on our heels as we left. We loved the Secrets of the Maya, and the photos Davis took, both on our phone, and on theirs, which he made sure to get to us before we even left the parking lot. Suffice it to say, we can't wait to do another room, even though this was the only two-person room listed on their web site. We'll try our luck and smarts in a 3-person room! We had such a great time doing the submarine mission that we ended up going back the next day for the Xmas room! The Xmas room is definitely better for families and is more of a linear game. More hands on puzzles that is geared toward all ages. The submarine room was very difficult and definitely geared towards ages 12+ (just like the website says). We ended up getting multiple clues with both rooms and got out of both rooms as well. Can't wait to go back for the Mayan room And the upcoming western room!!!! read more

Words can't even explain how impressive this place was. My friends and I travelled from California to Utah to hike Zion National Park and had some downtime the day prior. We are all avid escape room players so naturally we gravitated towards this place. Booking it through the website was easy. We did Secrets of the Mayan and were pleasantly surprised at the mechanics of the game. It was very high tech, understandable, and overall fun. We won with some time to spare. Brendan, our game master and the owner, was very helpful when we asked for hints and overall was truly amazing. After the game, he shared his thought process of the storyline and even showed us a sneak peek of his next escape room. You can tell he is super passionate about his work. It's crazy to note that he designs and builds the escape rooms himself! The next day, after hiking Zion, we were so adamant on coming back and took the drive all the way back to St. George just to do Mission: Deep Cover. This one was even better. We were excited to see that Brendan would still be our gamemaster even though it was late at night. He showed the same level of enthusiasm as we did to see him. We ended up beating that escape room as well. Overall, this was one of the best escape room experiences we've ever had! Highly, highly recommend if you are in town and want something epic to do with friends/family. read more

First and first The Mayan theme was very cute decor. I loved the effort put into the 'stonework'. Jayden was very kind Ok so full disclosure a couple of us in the group have done 9+ other escape rooms. This room has been one of the least engaging rooms/least puzzles we have been in. This one hits our bottom two the bottom being fox games in Fullerton CA I do like the front themed like a study from An Alpine Utah home with the cherry wood etc. that tobacco leather Tuscan/Mountain vibe was cool and cozy The Secret of the Maya room could have been done with three people and I would suggest no more than 5. 7 (our group) was too many. And we ranged from 8 years to parental age and 1 person never done it before. Expectations to get 5 star from me: production value, uniqueness, engagement, story line (the room did not have a real story line Enough puzzles to engage a group. Length and size of rooms, music, decor, surprises minimal We were out in 33 minutes (not a brag as genuinely 2 people did not even help much in the group-including myself lol) . I appreciate it wasn't all just lock and keys. Genuinely rooting for escape rooms to thrive because it can be a lot of fun. Having never done an escape room I was very nervous about investing the time and money in an experience that could leave us very unsatisfied if we failed. Went into this place on a whim on vacation. We have done many escape rooms but never any with our kids (11, 9, 4). They were able to accommodate our last minute booking and made our kids' first escape room experience amazing. Erin hid coins in the room so our little one had a separate mission to complete while we solved the more complicated puzzles and after finding them all we got to pick keys out of a box to see if they opened a prize box in the lobby. No luck but the concept was super fun and gave the kids something to look forward to! We thoroughly enjoyed the Mayan room, which was very well decorated and was the first escape room we have ever done without a single padlock. One thing to note is there was no visible timer in the room so you have to ask how much time you have left if you want to know. They give unlimited hints and record your time online which is emailed to you along with pictures they take of you in the room at the end. Next time we are in St George we will definitely come back here again! read more

We booked a morning appointment while traveling through St. George. I attended with a 12 and 15-year-old, and the three of us had a great time in the Mayan Temple room. It was a very elaborately designed experience from start to finish. Even the lobby has an awesome feel to it. There were multiple puzzles to be solved in each room, which meant our little group could divide and explore separately, and then come together to collaborate. We definitely asked for a few hints when we got stuck. The moderator was on speaker, so we could have a direct conversation and ask for clarification...which I liked compared to other escape rooms I've been in. Another nice touch was the moderator would offer a hint if the group fell behind pace. There were points where I was truly lost, but because the moderator stayed silent, it subtly let me know I had the time to just fumble and experiment until the solution was discovered. Great room, great experience. Really beautifully done. Just loved it. We'll definitely come back to try the submarine escape next time we come through St. George. read more

We have done escape rooms before, including expensive rooms in Vegas, and Escapism is my favorite by far. Especially the submarine room, was so clever and well put together, and very high quality. None of it felt cheap and all the puzzles worked flawlessly. The difficulty was pretty high, we had to have to ask for a few clues and still barely made it out, but we aren't the smartest bunch. if you're experienced with escape rooms it should still provide a good challenge.
