Had a great experience with the Treasure Expedition. Lots of fun and will be back again!

The Lost Treasure room was perfect for our 8 and 10 year old. Bobby was excellent at leading our room and assisting us when we needed it.

I love the warm up before the actual start time. The whole place was organized and fun. I typically don't like escape rooms, but this one kept my attention where as we did two! read more

Fam took me here for a surprise b-day outing. Pretty much from the moment you step inside, the game is on! Wonderfully done and Bobby, our game-master was helpful without giving up the ghost. Many surprises...just when you think you've solved, there's more. We didn't break any records, but we beat the clock. Thank you for the adventure! read more

Everything was so great, definitely recommend. Our game host was awesome. She explained everything so well and was very helpful. Had a lot of fun would definitely come back just to try the other rooms. read more

Absolute love! The place may not be big but they make the most out of everything. The puzzles are super creative. If you want to go for speed you totally can. The best part is the hints and service, I've been to dozens of escape rooms and they all give very vague and obvious hints, not escape mission. Emily motivated us and got us through so we had the most fun possible. 10/10 would recommend read more

Emily was amazing. Me and my boyfriend went to the escape mission escape rooms for his birthday trip, we played the hunted and it was very challenging but we were able to escape. Emily did everything she could to help and she was amazing, definitely going back! read more

We've done two escape rooms and we have loved both of them. We have kids ages 10 and 8. Both rooms we were able to escape with little assistance and the escape room masters were great. Emily was our escape room master for the second one and she was super helpful and friendly! We will be back! read more

Best experience in an escape room ever! We had no appointment set and were accommodated right away. The rooms were so intricate and fun to complete and Derek was the best help! He was super nice and helpful, I would consider him our fifth team partner. Overall, I will definitely be coming back and I would recommend this for everyone! All 4 rooms seem to be a great time. read more

Excellent escape room experience. They put a lot of thought and craft into designing their rooms, and the hosts are friendly and helpful.

The room that we booked was confusing and half the "clues" were broken and we ended up using the whole hour. We asked for hints from the worker and they did not respond, and when they did, they didn't even know what part of the room we were on. Also we didn't get given a time remaining on the TV until about 40 minutes left. Wish we could give them a 0 star. Waste of money . read more

Escape Mission Chattanooga is an escape room business located in the Northshore neighborhood of downtown Chattanooga, just north of the Tennessee River near the Walnut Street Bridge. This is a relatively new business, having opened in July 2016. Escape Mission is local and not a chain. It was built by escape room enthusiasts for escape room enthusiasts and anyone looking to have a fun time. If you don't know what an escape room is, the concept is simple: Typically, the way it works is you pay to get locked in a room with other people for one hour. Working against the clock, you and your team must unravel clues in the room and escape before time is up. Different rooms have different themes and storylines. It's kind of like being in a movie or a point-and-click adventure game, but in real life. Your play session is monitored by escape room staff and you're allowed to ask staff for help up to three times per room. At the time of writing this review, the regular price for one game at Escape Mission Chattanooga is $30.90 per person. It's $28 plus $2.59 tax and $0.31 processing fee per person per room. There are three rooms: 1. Bank Heist (hardest room, 15% success rate) 2. Speakeasy (medium difficulty room, 35% success rate) 3. The Hunted (easy room, 40% success rate) We visited on Sunday, January 29, 2017 and successfully completed all three rooms in one day. We started with Speakeasy, then The Hunted, then Bank Heist. Bank Heist was definitely the hardest room for us (it did not help that it was our third room of the day). I thought The Hunted was arguably more difficult than Speakeasy (the success rates for those two rooms are close). My favorite was Bank Heist because it was so challenging yet most gratifying when we beat it. It came down to the wire. One thing that makes Escape Mission Chattanooga unique is its entrance. The lobby/waiting area is actually an escape room itself. You have to figure it out before you can actually enter. I think that's neat. After playing 35 escape rooms to date, this is the first time I've seen anything like it. I'm sort of surprised I haven't seen this idea used elsewhere. As for the rooms themselves, generally speaking, I think Escape Mission Chattanooga does a nice job with them. All of the rooms have background music or ambient noise that is subtle and not overbearing nor distracting. The quality of the rooms is good. For example, the Speakeasy room felt like being in a Prohibition era bar, The Hunted felt like being in a cabin in the woods, and the Bank Heist felt like being inside a bank. Lighting, furniture, props, floor to ceiling, everything is taken into consideration. Something I really liked about Escape Mission Chattanooga, particularly with the Speakeasy and Bank Heist rooms, is our team could split up and work on different clues (divide and conquer). Other escape rooms I've played have more strict, linear paths where the entire group is following one trail of clues or riddles. That's not as fun since it feels as though each teammate contributes less. The Hunted actually starts off with your group getting split up, forcing the smaller sub-groups to work together to complete the puzzle. The start of each room has you "breaking into" each of the rooms. For example, in Speakeasy, you actually start outside of the bar in an alley and have to find your way in. In Bank Heist, you start in an elevator and have to find your way into the bank. We ended up solving Speakeasy in 40:12 (19:48 left on the clock), The Hunted in 41:38 (18:22 left), and Bank Heist in 55:39 (4:21 left). It started getting tense at the end of Bank Heist. We were really on our toes. Overall, I thought the design of the rooms and the clues were smart, clever, and well thought out. Nothing cheap. In traditional escape room fashion, there is a photo area where you can take team victory (or loser) photos after you finish. Escape Room Chattanooga has a lot of funny theme-appropriate props which I really enjoyed. They include bank heist masks and creepy serial killer outfits. If you beat a room, you also get to sign a key and zip-tie it to the chain-link fence outside. Our team, Team Bad Math, signed a set of keys for each room and tied each set together as a bundle. Many thanks to the owners, Eric and his wife, and our afternoon game master Madison, for showing us a great time. We made a special trip from Atlanta just to try these rooms and the visit was worth it. We had tons of fun. Side note: There is a counter on the wall above the waiver tablets which shows Escape Mission Chattanooga's current number of Facebook likes. It is a live working counter. Try liking/unliking Escape Mission Chattanooga on Facebook to see it in action. I think it's pretty cool. read more

Emily was awesome! Whenever we were at a stand still she would ask if we needed a hint. She would help us out tremendously. She's super cool, friendly, and very professional. My group did The Hunted, which was hard. we got out with 5.5 minutes to spare, but we had extra hints. it definitely had some math heavy bits. I think we easily overthink things that are looking at us. definitely check them out. I want to go back and try the other rooms. read more

We had a little bit of a bumpy start with Escape Mission, but we are glad we saw it through. We visited their location during the day on a Tuesday. The website said they were open, Google said they were open, so we decided to do a walk-in to see if we could schedule all four of their rooms that day. We drove over and...they were not open. Now it's perfectly understandable that places with smaller staffs may close their doors when they don't have any rooms booked, but this should be VERY CLEAR on their site - we double-checked and it's not. So we called their number and were led to a generic voicemail that made us unsure if we were reaching the business or not. We left a message and while waiting for a response figured, what the heck, let's book their next room online and we will see what happens. About 20 minutes later we received a call back and it was smooth sailing from there on out. So the bottom line here is that it's not only better to call or book in advance, it's potentially required. The facility was easy to find and has affordable paid street parking. Better yet, simply talk to the staff and they will let you park for free out front in the limited spaces they have. There are also a lot of options for escape room refueling and/or debrief beverages - we chose Basecamp Bar & Restaurant which is a rustic little restaurant bar across the street with a great local beer location and friendly service. We didn't get a chance to eat there, but the menu looked yummy. Once the time came for our booked room, Escape Mission was very much open and ready to accept us in style - hairstyle that is! The entry is decorated to look like a salon and once there you receive a phone call informing you that you must solve a puzzle to obtain entry to the escape facility. SO MUCH FUN! Once in we were greeted by the absolutely delightful Miriam and Madison who, upon finding out we wanted to do all four rooms, gave us complete freedom to choose our order. As always, we genuinely appreciate when businesses work with us so that we can experience all their rooms on our own, but no one should ever expect this. All these rooms were genuinely enjoyable. You won't get the "wow-factor" of some of the more polished companies out there, but production design was solid. We did find some puzzle issues, but overall we were able to escape all four rooms within our three hint allotment. The biggest issue we ran into is that we were sometimes able to "jump the puzzle" (get further ahead than we are technically supposed to), which leads to confusion when facing a bunch of unused items. In addition, some props have become worn with time, making them difficult to understand or read. Miriam and Madison proved to be adept and super-polite gamemasters. Communication occurs by calling out for a clue and then receiving your hint through a two-way speaker system. Bank Heist is fun because instead of the usual preventing a bank heist or figuring out "whodunnit," you are the heisters...heistees...heistmeisters. This one is math heavy, but still accessible. Speakeasy was a mix of games and bar, which led a mix of fun puzzles that can be done in parallel. Once again, there is some math involved, but this place is really good about providing calculators and whiteboards. The Awakening takes place in a creepy crypt and is a good choice for those who love the dark side. Escape Mission's best room is The Hunted. It has a unique twist on the whole hostage situation in that you start out in separate cells, but you can see each other. Once in the killer's cabin there were some fun and unique puzzles we hadn't seen before. If you can do one room, we recommend this one. If you have time for a second, do Speakeasy. This is a good facility for beginners - experienced groups looking for a serious challenge may be disappointed. Most of the rooms are family friendly, except for The Awakening, which has some horror movie props and one sound related jump-scare. It should also not surprise anyone to know that The Speakeasy is gangster and booze themed. The Hunted does have a serial killer theme, but there is nothing gory within the room itself. Bank Heist and Speakeasy are readily accessible for those with physical limitations. Awakening has a few stairs to get to the room itself and Hunted involves some crawling within the game. Another fun and unique aspect of this facility is that with every escape, each person gets to sign a key and affix it to the fence outside. This is clever and makes for a great display outside the building. In conclusion, while there were a few speedbumps with scheduling and puzzle design, this facility is worth a visit for their delightful staffs, creative twists, and overall solid rooms. Gage is was a great escape room host and I loved the game ! Pirate themed is always good and a fun easy room.

While visiting from Atlanta me and my family decided to try out this place. Our first time doing an escape room. First impression when walking through the door and the telephone being to ring. I answered it and was given my first clue to enter the facility . As we entered Emily was there to greet us very friendly and kind. She lead us to our room which was the Speakeasy Room and we started from there. Emily was also in another room watching us to give clues if need. We got to the last part and was out of clues but Emily came in and let us know what the other clues was and show us how we could of mastered the room. Over all experiences was excellent I was definitely do it again and recommend this place. read more

"I should kill everyone and escape?" -- Suicide Squad (2016) Escape Mission is a newer escape company in Chattanooga, but not one of the big corporate chain types. I actually found them through an Escape Enthusiasts board on Facebook and was happy to find more of a home grown, mom and pop type business. My team and I planned a jaunt from Atlanta and made a day trip to do all 3 of their rooms - They were quite accommodating for us since we were traveling from out of town. This place is great - from the moment you walk in the door, the game is afoot. The staff is super friendly and is as much into the game of escaping as we are - which makes it that much more fun. In our case, we did all 3 rooms. The Hunted (the easiest of the three and great for new people to the escape room deal and made for a maximum of 6 people), Speakeasy (middle level of difficulty and a maximum of 8) and Bank Heist (their newest and hardest room to date). Their decor is well done. Not skimped on in any way. Locks are varied and creatively used. Not all three rooms are linear - and are all quite different from one another. You won't be bored. There are a couple of more obscure items in each room, but if you work together and communicate, you can solve everything if you use your brains and keep track of clues. They do provide white boards in each room and nothing really requires prior knowledge - they are good about that. They have great background sounds and music to make you feel like you are in the settings of the room themes as well. Eric and Madison were our game masters and did well not to give too much away when giving us clues - but we prefer even less help when receiving clues (personally). I will say, our brains were pretty fried by the end of the day and we missed a thing or two we should have figured out, but we managed to escape all three - but we are well-seasoned. They have fun props that tie to the room themes (great touch) and even provide you will blank keys to write your names on and tie to the fence outside if you successfully escape the room. Fun touch that we loved taking advantage of. Overall, a great experience and a fun day. Thanks to Eric for inviting us from Atlanta and taking excellent care of Team Bad Math. A great day indeed! read more

My Daughter Lyndsie had her 13th Birthday party June 14, 2017! Absolutely the best idea for young adults! What a great time the kids had... afterward we had Dinner with the girls and all of them could not wait to tell everyone how much fun they had. We were kinda sad because we as parents opted out to allow my daughter to hv more friends go on the mission. We found out after the mission that my Daughter was unable to capture the mission on her GoPro (rules) no photos or video. Something we missed discussing upon booking with the owner. I would hv loved to have the memory for my daughter to look back on. This was the only disappointment tho. Very clean site, easy to find, and loads of fun my daughter stated! read more

Decided to do a work team building activity here, and it was amazing! I have found there to be 2 types of Escape Rooms: Impossible (where you do not really get anywhere) and too easy (where you are in an out in 10 minutes). The room we played was perfect. Just challenging enough-and we solved it with only 3-4 minutes left on the clock! Eric the owner was super friendly, and gave great clues when we asked-again, just enough to help without giving it away. Protip: you get 3 clues-use them before time runs out! Make sure to get your key up on the fence before leaving! read more

These are fun, but I feel as though I can only review them in contrast to other rooms. I have only done two rooms, so I don't have much available for comparison, I will update my review as I try more. Located behind Frasier on River Street on the corner of Tremont this is easy to find, and there are many restaurants nearby if you want to make a night of it. Our kids (6-8) had been begging to go to one of these so we took them, and yet still managed to escape. They require you to solve a simple puzzle to gain access to the main area and then they do a very good job of explaining your situation. The room we did was "The Hunted" and none of us adults liked it better than the room we had done previously, which was The Inheritance, at Escape Experience. The room did not feel very well themed and put together, just random accountremonts on cinder block walls, and the puzzles, while good and challenging, felt just as arbitrary. Random haphazard theming and decor, random haphazard puzzles. I feel as though they did not put as much effort into design or theming as Escape Experience. Yet they charge basically the same price ($30 a person). I felt like this was a lower quality experience overall, which would have been okay if it was cheaper. I also feel like these places (all of such places) should offer discounted kids rates. Where I liked this place better was their how they ran their hints and game masters. At Escape Experience we might ask for a hint and something would show on the screen, something we'd already seen or done, several of our hints were as such not useful. At Escape Mission we'd ask for a hint and our benevolent gamemaster would conversationally talk to us by microphone. They're supposed to be watching but maybe not watching enough so if the gamemaster was giving us a hint we could say "No no we know that already" and move on, at Escape Experience we couldn't. So this place has the edge there. I just don't feel that is enough though, so I gave them 3 stars, it was good, it was fun, but not as good or as fun as Escape Experience over on the South Side. read more

We went to Escape Mission one rainy day because our plans got rained out. We were so glad we did. We've been to a LOT of Escape rooms and this one ranked among the top 3. The rooms are well thought out and offered a lot of challenging, yet elegant puzzles. Embarrassingly enough, we used our first hint within a few minutes. If you do the bank heist, you'll understand. We had so much fun that we immediately went into another room. It helps that the owner was really nice and takes price in their business. I really enjoy that the game master listened in to us the whole time so, when we did ask for a hint, he was able to give us something relevant without having to ask "have you done x?". If you're in Chattanooga for a visit, or live locally and just need something fun to do, I highly recommend Escape Mission. read more

One of the coolest escape places in Chatt! I came to the area for a day vacation. I'm an escape room addicted so I decided to played the awakening. I loved the room. It was dark in there and hot but nothing I couldn't handle. The game master was super helpful but not too overwhelming. Even walking in the front door was fun. ( you'll understand once you visit) the rooms are well decorated and the puzzles are challenging but not too hard. I loved awakening so much I came back the next day to play the hunted and speak easy. Hunted was my second favorite room. There was some math in the game. I'm terrible at math. I'm glad my partner was with me or I would have been lost. And third on my list was speak easy. I didn't enjoy that room but everyone has their own opinion about the games. It wasn't linear and a bit more challenging. I didn't try the bank game because I've read there is math involved and I try to stay away from rooms with math because it eats up so much of my time. It was two of us in the room at a time and we managed to escape all the rooms. It was cool being able to write our names on keys and attach them to the fence outside as a reward for us escaping. I will be watching the website and going back to the area should they open new rooms! read more
