I need more than a clinical, depersonalized approach - one that affirms and connects; that humanizes; one where you are touched as well as massaged. After putting off a visit to Tropical Touch for months, I finally tried it out yesterday. I'm glad I waited until today, the next morning, to write my review. There is a balanced feeling of recovery on the morning after, that I have never experienced, and that is hard to explain. Certain kinks that had been stubborn, are greatly relieved. Parts of my body that I thought were permanently debilitated (like my finger joints, for starters) seem to be in a healing mode this morning - where other therapists had attempted, but made little difference. I give all the credit to Cici, who found these spots, and focused on them. She communicates gently and firmly, and was able to satisfy those peculiars that I mentioned, without having to talk about it much. Our conversation was joyful and affirming. I didn't know a massage could be both fun and impactful. I will be back . . . and will probably make Tropical Touch my primary, and only, spa.

After booking a massage from the business website she is told the night before her appointment that she cannot use the gift card because the new massage therapist doesn't work directly for the salon! What exactly is the point of me buying a gift card then being told by the business that the cards cannot be used for services that you have always used them for? Horrible customer service, this is not on the employee, it's 100% on the ownership. If you're a business and change your rules on something as big as gift card usage, you should let customers know at purchase, if you don't, you should remedy the situation, not tell the customer there is nothing that can be done. Straight up horrible customer service. Will be taking our business elsewhere from now on.

The first thing they did when we got to the spa area is ask what we wanted to drink...ride wine for me, please! It was actually a decent wine, too. The dressing area was comfortable and nice, and you got your own locker to put your clothes and belongings in to - and not grade-school metal lockers, either. They were very nice dark wood lockers. The masseuse was very nice and professional and did a very nice job. My mom and I both walked out of there feeling like butter. This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and trendy. Because the place is a spa, too, expect prices to be a little higher than in a regular salon.

After a disasterous morning of trying to find somewhere to get a mani/pedi that didn't result in a giant wait, I found this place on Yelp and gave them a call. They had open appointments for a mani/pedi, which I scheduled for 2p. Within an hour or so of booking,I got a call back asking if I could come in tomorrow instead. I told them no, and they said "Okay, well if you don't hear back from us, everything will be fine". Not a great start, but after my rough morning, I was just glad to have an appointment. The place was nice inside- decorated in a Pinterest- inspired fashion. Marilyn Monroe posters, crystal chandeliers, soft seaform paint colors, etc. When I got there, it looked like the owner was the only person on staff, with a client in her chair. She mentioned my nail tech was on her way in. She showed up on time, and we proceeded to the nail area. It had some clothes for sale hanging on a rack in the nail area, which I thought was a bit strange, but whatever. The nail tech, who was VERY nice and personable, mentioned that since I wanted regular polish and not shellac, my options were pretty limited. They did not have any "french" type manicure colors. I settled on a color and sat down to get started. She laid down some paper towels on top of the nail station (kinda lame). Not even a towel? She had been out for a few days, ill, so she had no idea where a lot of her supplies/tools were. She spent a lot of time hunting down the things she needed for the manicure and pedicure. She did a base coat, two coats of polish, and a top coat on my fingers, and then we moved on to the pedicure area. There were 2 pedicure chairs, and she gave a lot of attention to detail. They use a sugar scrub, a mask, and then massage with lotion. They are pretty aggressive with their cleaning- using alcohol, sanitizer, chlorine to clean out the pedicure tubs, etc. So if this is something you really care about, they're great about that. This entire process took 3 hours. Normally, I would put a mani pedi at 1.5-2 hours, and maybe that includes some wait time. I was so surprised that my 2pm appointment had me there until 5pm. My total? $75. Now, my mindset could have really impacted my review. Had I known that I was blocking out 3 hours of my day ahead of time for this, I would have had the right expectations up front about how long I'd be there. I'm still not sure if I'll be going back. tl; dr Place is nice if you'd like a more personal spa-type salon experience. Just set aside a lot of time for your appointment.

They accept walk-ins, which I was relieved about on that day. The massage itself used hot stones, which was relaxing and comforting. The massage technique was a little ... unpolished? Like instead of feeling that the strokes or areas worked were connected and a smooth transition, it was a little more abrupt. Never had a massage quite like this one before in that sense. At the end initially I was quoted the wrong price, before questioning it and the masseuse correcting herself. I was going to pay with a card (they charge a fee), but the lady pressured me for cash. It was a rare occasion that I had enough on me. She immediately asked me for a tip while I was standing there with my wallet open. Some of the better reviews seem to reference a different massage person, so maybe that accounts for the difference. Glad I checked it out but not sure if I'll come back.
