ever having done an escape room before, only had a very general understanding of what to expect and boy was I blown away. The experience was so much more than I had hoped and I will definitely go back. We did the Temple Escape and it mixed the perfect amount of brain teasers with suspenseful dramatic tension and a pleasant degree of difficulty. Admittedly, we needed a couple of clues to keep us moving forward, but the Game Master did a good job of helping without making use feel like dummies. This place was fantastic! My husband and I have done a lot of escape rooms (mostly in California), and have experienced different generations of escape rooms. The rooms in Escape 406 are what would be classified as Gen 2, which means it has a good mix of actual physical locks and fancier tech/production. Our first booking was Bleakwood Manor, which was very interesting because it was an escape room and a murder mystery in one. We both enjoyed this room because not only was the storyline intriguing, but the puzzles were very well-weaved into the story itself. With just the two of us, we only needed one hint and finished in 52 minutes. I do have to warn though that if you have more than 4 people, it may end up being too many cooks in kitchen. At the very least, it may feel a bit tight. We did like this room so much we ended up booking another room immediately after, and another one the next day. After doing three rooms with Escape 406, I would say Bleakwood Manor is about medium difficulty. The next room we did was Temple of Abyss which I would say is easy in difficulty. With the two of us, we finished in 34 minutes without any hints. The styles of puzzles here were different from Bleakwood Manor which was great because we felt like there was enough variety for it not to be too predictable. This was more of a typical escape room (not mixed with murder mystery), so it's less dependent on the storyline. Regardless, the puzzles made sense and overall flowed well. The last room we did was Death in Wonderland, which again, felt very different from the other two rooms. With such a whimsical theme, the puzzles also felt whimsical and fun. This was considered hard in difficulty, but we did finish in 48 minutes with just the two of us and only one hint. However, this may be a bit tricky for those who may have not done a lot of escape rooms. The puzzles are very well done, but some may be trickier than others. Without giving anything away, I would say make sure to pay attention to everything in the room. Look around first and absorb everything before starting on a puzzle. We absolutely loved our time and experience at Escape 406! The folks here did an incredible job with all of the rooms! read more

We were visiting out kids at Montana State and decided to try the local escape room experience. We've been to a couple rooms local to Post Falls, Idaho, but had not been to any elsewhere. Escape 406 had 3 intriguing options and we went with Bleakwood Manor. It was an escape room with a murder mystery to solve. We had a great time getting through the puzzles which were just about the right level of difficulty and all but solved the murder. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Compared to some rooms, the size was on the smaller end, so don't plan on a group bigger than 5 or 6 max. There was nothing too scary or shocking, so younger players would be fine. Next time we are in Bozeman, we'll probably try one of the other rooms. read more

Had a great time! This was my first experience with an escape room, so I had no idea what to expect. My husband and I were there with my 15 year old grandson ( he has been to escape rooms before). Owner was great at explaining the room, time allowed and how to keep track of that time. For we novices, there was much more involved than expected, but we were able to obtain all the needed clues (okay, we did not exactly solve the mystery, but after so much fun, it didn't matter!) We will definitely return to try the other rooms. Probably starting with the easiest and working our way up. The room we visited was Bleakwood Manor...basically a Clue whodunnit room. Nothing cheesy about clues and props. Definitely recommend! read more

I have done many escape rooms from all over. Bleakwood Manor is one of the most original. Highly recommended.
