Very tasty dishes and can be good for a group. The service is quite slow but i think that shows they care about freshness.

What can a London-based chain restaurant tell me about Japanese food/ramen? Very little…read more It's my second time at this location (The Outlet in Roermond, The Netherlands) and it wasn't any better than the first. Walked in just before their lunch rush and ordered the Shirodashi ramen. Place was clean, trendy deco and the music was hip. First, my ramen did not resemble the photo on the menu/website. Mine looked haphazardly constructed. The pork belly looked like it was tossed in instead of displayed. Dish temperature could have been a bit hotter as well. Secondly, the broth could have been richer and deeper in taste. Perhaps its saltiness compensated for the blandness of the stock/broth. They should lose that uncomfortable wooden ladle contraption and replace it with a proper Chinese/Japanese soup spoon. I want to like it but it's not happening.

After a long morning of shopping we decided to go for lunch to the newly opened Wagamama restaurant…read morein the Roermond Outlet. The service was really friendly and attentive and spoke perfect English. We were immediately seated and got a table outside at the small street terrace. The menu has several starters, ramens, currys, noodles and teppanyaki. For each meal it's possible to chose the type of noodles. We tried the Gyoza which come with a special, a bit spicy sauce. They were good, however not crunchy at all. For the mains we took the Shirodashi Ramen and the Seared Nuoc Cham Tuna. The ramen had a tasty chicken/miso broth and plenty of toppings. The egg was however hard boiled. The Tuna was not overcooked and was juicy. It was accompanied with quinoa and seasonal steamed vegetables. Taken that this is a chain and a restaurant in a shopping mall it was good value for the money and a good pit stop before continuing the shopping.

As a person who always order ramen, Ramen here is quite disappointing. They use white thick udon in…read morethe ramen which is not traditional at all. The sliced pork is also not well prepared. Usually in Japanese ramen, the sliced meat has both lean meat and a bit fatty part and the meat is slow stewed for hours that the fatty part is not tasted oily anymore. Here the meat is dry and seems to quick cook. The bowel seems to be thrown together quickly without any heart went into it when preparing. My friend ordered sushi which is also average. Not that fresh or special tasty The 2 Stars give to the lunch special options(12-5pm Monday-Saturday) so you save a few euro. Otherwise I would just give 1 star if pay 11 Euro for a bad ramen. I noticed most high rating happened in 2015 or before and the waiter also mentioned they changed to use udon in ramen from usual ramen 2 years ago. Maybe the restaurant is taken over by new owner or had a new chef since then and the quality has gone down. We initially planned to go to another sushi restaurant next to it but because they were fully booked, we went to this one. It probably has the reason why this restaurant still had so many empty spots while another one next to it was completely full. Last but not least please any people who run a restaurant, put your heart in when preparing for your food. Such a shame.
