As a business owner I've always been a bit skeptical when it comes to tax time but Eddie put all my anxieties to rest.

Everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made a huge difference. What I really loved is that they can handle my taxes no matter where I live in the United States--that kind of flexibility is amazing. Miguel especially stood out--he was so kind, patient, and really took a lot of the stress off my shoulders. You can tell they genuinely care about their clients. Thank you so much for all your help! I'm looking forward to working with you for many years to come.

We were just looking for simple tax filing for military family with property in different states. When I spoke to Claudia, I shared exactly that information and she said she can accommodate then had setup an appointment for us with her, months ahead before tax deadline. I asked if she had a list of items she will need from us and she said we will receive a text. Fast forward to last week, I received a text to confirm my appointment with tax company, I confirm yes but didn't receive a list of things needed neither a secured link to drop required documents. Night before our appointment my husband put together what we normally drop in a link for previous tax companies, W2, bank statements, receipts for medical, military, donation statements/receipts, work related mileage and uniform care, etc, tax documents from previous year, and of course government identification. We expected to have everything with us when we arrive at our appointment since we were traveling 40 miles one-way to get taxes done. We finally arrived 15 minutes late because of traffic we jumped on the Fastrack not realizing the next exit was a couple miles past our exit...lesson learned. Called to let Claudia know we will be late and check if we should just head back home. The gentleman who answered the call said Claudia was in a meeting and proceeded to say that he is actually going to take care of us and we can still show up for our appointment...interesting we got passed up to someone else but heck that's what we get for arriving late perhaps. We arrive and was asked for our driver licenses, then was asked if we had our social security cards with us...that's a first! I told him we didn't know what you all needed from us so we just brought what we typically bring to tax appointments. And he says that they require a social security card and not to worry because we can just "email" photo images to him. In my line of work, I know that is unacceptable, in fact, all law enforcement affiliates would never recommend you send PII via non-secured email accounts. My husband chimed in and said we have never had to provide social security cards to any tax company and the guy interrupted my husband saying all tax companies do require a social security card by law... I couldn't help but wonder if he thinks we file our taxes outside of the United States because we have been filing taxes for over 30 years and this is the first time any tax company has ever asked for our social security cards. But heck, seems like he wants to be right and that is ok. We were in traffic too long to argue with a wall. Perhaps they are unaware that when U.S. citizens acquire a government ID that social security cards were already verified to obtain a government ID...who knows. Well, we weren't going to sit there and argue with the guy. And we already knew that we don't care to travel another 80 miles just to bring our social security cards because our passports and or Driver licenses didn't suffice. Neither would we ever send photo images or typed characters of our SS numbers via email. We already have to write our SS numbers on tax forms, if IRS cannot verify it with their super secret computers then it comes back to the tax-payer for proper verification. Simple as that and not worth the argument. We told him to have a good day and walked out. One star for allowing us to show up late. No value in this visit and no service was rendered. Just a massive headache from the traffic to get there and the unnecessary banter over social security numbers.

I've used etax dating back to 2015 and things have changed and they are slipping. No free pen or magnet or anything this time! I probably should have gone to Anaheim to see my boy Shad but, at that time, I was not mobile and on disability so I went with the local team and used docusign to file because of the bad weather. My logic for using these smaller tax sites was they were going to comb through your data and find marvelous savings and items a big firm might overlook. In the past, at the old cypress etax office, this is what they did but now it just seems like we're giving them a hard time with all our paperwork and they are charging me for it! I wasn't happy and this is a costly review. Last year, I had to print out a bunch of data and mail in my taxes manually! I didn't receive my return money until November, wondering if I would receive anything at all! I was not told ahead of time about this consideration. However, they were paid for their services it in the early part of the year and I was just told to wait and don't lose my tracking number. I mean seriously, I cut back on my stocks and crypto this year and put most of my equities in IRA accounts but I think I lost more money reporting and being etaxed for those tax items. lol "Our price is based on the forms that we use ''; I didn't see anything special in the forms to charge me so much; I got etaxed on a form called "Time and Misc' which is subjective and random. I guess the more forms you give them then the more they going to charge you; You need to think about every form you receive in the mail for tax purposes as it could be a useless form but if you submit it then you are going to get charge for more than the form was worth; I think I could have just copied the data from those forms into TurboTax and saved a whole lot of money. If it's going to cost $400 - $500 to file with etax each year now then i'm going to have to hit up some Accounting Students who are volunteering to help with taxes for free. Finally, I don't think the way the personal data is sent to etax is very secure. You are asked to send your personal data to dropbox and just drag and drop the data; I wasn't really comfortable with that, even these last few years; I don't even know who can view the data. While that might be easy to do, it's better to zip your data and send, preferably encrypted with a password. I don't know if they would know how to unzip it. I'm always afraid they are going to get breached, hacked. In summary, find a Tax person who is down to comb through your data to find a way to get you a nice return - not someone that's like "Oh My Gawd... You are giving me too many papers.. I'm going to charge your ass based on all the papers you're sending. Stop! I hate tax season! Ugh grrr! So annoying!"
