Well, besides the fact that we didn't take proper measures to get internet during our stay since we relied on our cousins to do that, all I did was check-in to areas with my spotty internet and didn't think of checking in to the actual town. Well, here I am, five months later with a few shots from some of the most beautiful views I captured during my visit to Stockholm. Monteliusvägen is a gorgeous walking area about a quarter-mile long that shows gorgeous views of historic buildings, the glistening water and gorgeous homes and businesses surrounding the area. We arrived to the country at a good time during the summer, although they are known to have sudden changes in the weather in the middle of the day where it'll begin raining with thunderstorms out of nowhere. This day in particular served us well. One of the pictures was taken from the water because my lovely uncle and cousins gave us a tour around the city with their boat. It was a magical experience and I could not stop taking photos. If you visit Sweden and want to avoid the cold, visit during July (when they celebrate Midsommar) or August...just bring an umbrella.

We parked just down the…read morestreet and walked up the road until we reached the rocky hill, then it was time to off road a bit until you end up on top of the hill and get rewarded with the view of the city and the water. This is the highest natural point in central Stockholm. From here enjoy the Saltsjon and the Gamla Stan side of Stockholm. You can even see the iconic steeple of Riddarholmskyrkan in the distance. There's plenty of space to sit and relax, even bring a picnic, or just take lots of photos. Just down the street there's cafes and a little playground for the kids to get their energy out before piling everyone back in the car. Definitely a nice little stop.

It's walkable from the subway as well. Once you get to the top, there's a great view looking back to the main island of Stockholm and Gamla Stan. There are also some good views of houses of Södermalm. You won't find this on many lists of things you should do in Stockholm and it's a little off the beaten path, but it's definitely worth seeing. I highly recommend stopping here while in Stockholm.

The park is extremely lush, green, and expansive with many experiences to choose from, whether you are looking to take a long stroll, stretch out on a blanket, eat a good meal with a scenic view, or learn about Swedish history at Skansen. I highly recommend having coffee or lunch at Rosendals Trädgård - a locally operated farm and dining destination centrally located in the park. There is even an option to take your meal and enjoy it in the beautiful apple orchard.

Stockholm's tiniest statue, Järnpojken is "little boy" and he sits in a small courthard. He is only…read more6 inches tall, sitting on a small table on a metal plate. Different times of year will find him dressed in appropriate clothing for current events or the weather. Knitted scarves are popular as are sunglasses. The statue dates back to 1967 by artist Liss Eriksson and it was originally titled, "The Boy Who Looks at the Moon." Rubbing his head bestows good luck as does leaving a small gift. The old prison (which I did not visit today) has been turned into a hostel. Lots of walking paths criss-crossing the park. Some paved. Some hard-packed dirt. A caravan park. Kayak and canoe rentals. Typically I don't write reviews for subway stations (or "tunnelbana" as it is called in Sweden),…read morehowever, the station of Thorildsplan does deserve a place in my Yelp-list of retro games related shops (and now places). You could also say it is not a typical subway station, but very few of the stations in Stockholm are typical since most of them feature a theme or special artwork. The theme of the Thorildsplan subway station is 8-bit games. On the wall mosaic you'll see references to Super Mario Brothers on the 8-bit NES, as well as Pac-Man with ghost (not sure what port of Pac-Man the sprites are taken from). Worth a visit for the retro gaming geek that want to do it all, non-geeky friends may not appreciate it to the same extent. :) There is not much else on the station but it is close to Rålambshovsparken which is very nice to stroll around on the way into the city. To get there, take the subway (doh!), green line towards west (towards Åkeshov, Vällingby or Hässelby Strand among others).
