    Beautiful city

A district of Stockholm full of gardens and museums. In the end of July I spent an entire day here wandering around. Djurgården was once the Royal Game Park and is an island in central Stockholm. It is home to several historical buildings, monuments, and museums.- like the Vasa and ABBA museums. The Gröna Lund is an amusement park there. The open-air museum Skansen shows different eras of Swedish life, it is one of the Stockholmers' favorite recreation areas and tourist destinations. The island belongs to the National City park founded in 1995. Since the 15th century the Swedish monarch has owned or held the right of disposition of Royal Djurgården. I recommend renting a bicycle and checking out the museums, parks and harbor areas. Just beautiful.

Perfect spot for a long walk in Stockholm's finest city greenery. Museums, cafes, art installations, boats, canoes. Water everywhere! Locals and tourists of all ages love coming here.

    Amusement park on the island.

Djurgården is also one of my favorites, this place is unlike Gamla stan. It is full of green and wide streets. To get to this place, my hubby and I first actually took the ferries, which I total recommend it. we can we the normal boat, which out day tickets got that cover. It went from Gamla stan to Djurgården In just about 10-15 minutes. But those couple minutes allowed us to see the city from the water. Plus the weather was really great when we were there. It just simply became one of the highlights of our trip. First thing before stepped my foot on the island I saw the Gröna Lund, which an amusement park. That it looked like it was just on the water, pretty cool and amazing. It kind of remind me some concept of lost paradise once I saw somewhere. Besides than that, the museum itself also got several cool places to be. We were on our way to the Spiritmuseum, along the way, we passed this beautiful yard club area, it was just brilliant to be there. Spiritmuseum is amazing as well, I had cool time there. there are couple other museums, such us ABBA museum, Nordisches Museum and Vasa museum on the island, we couldn't make it the first time here, so we came back again with tram and visited the Vasa museum as well, it was just amazing to be able to see the warship Vasa. There is a nice park to walk with on the island as well. It just made me like this place even more.

Absolutely loved biking through Djurgarden! Fantastic scenery and very chill / relaxing! It's not crowded either unlike a lot of public parks in the U.S. (for example, Central Park in New York is awesome but it's always relatively chaotic with how many people there are). Loved the mix of streams, the sea, lush forests, gardens, and historical monuments and museums! I especially liked the Rosendal with all the different wildlife and flora. Definitely a must if you're visiting Stockholm!

My favourite part of Stockholm. We were staying at Story Hotel in Ostermalm. Djurgarden was a brisk 15 minute walk away. The whole island is a National Park. There are museums, monuments, historical buildings, lakes, art installations and an old Coney Island - like fun fair called Gröna Lund. But the real treat is just to walk and walk and walk. You feel like you are in the deepest country side. Beautiful.

My husband & I had a lovely time exploring this beautiful island covered in snow! We went to the Vasa museum and had fika at Rosendals Trädgård!

    Great fun at Grona Lund

Well, besides the fact that we didn't take proper measures to get internet during our stay since we relied on our cousins to do that, all I did was check-in to areas with my spotty internet and didn't think of checking in to the actual town. Well, here I am, five months later with a few shots from some of the most beautiful views I captured during my visit to Stockholm. Monteliusvägen is a gorgeous walking area about a quarter-mile long that shows gorgeous views of historic buildings, the glistening water and gorgeous homes and businesses surrounding the area. We arrived to the country at a good time during the summer, although they are known to have sudden changes in the weather in the middle of the day where it'll begin raining with thunderstorms out of nowhere. This day in particular served us well. One of the pictures was taken from the water because my lovely uncle and cousins gave us a tour around the city with their boat. It was a magical experience and I could not stop taking photos. If you visit Sweden and want to avoid the cold, visit during July (when they celebrate Midsommar) or August...just bring an umbrella.

We arrived about half an hour to secure our spot. The event lasted for half an hour and was a mixture of ceremony, band marching and playing and some history about the tradition and the regiment of guards. The highlight of our visit. One tip that worked for us was to split the visit of the palace itself and the changing of the guards. When we visited the rest of the palace the day after there just wasn't that many people. The chapel was free to enter and was located on the second floor opposite of the entrance to the treasury. It wasn't as large or ornate as other palace chapels we've visited. The treasury showcased many crowns, scepters, keys, orbs and other objects used by past and current royals. Placards in English was available just after the ticket desk. We saw everything in around 20 minutes. Tre Kronor museum was located underground in the remains of the previous palace that burned down in 1697. The artifacts were limited but the signage throughout was helpful in context. Near the end was a movie about the fire and construction of the replacement palace. The Royal Apartments had the first and second floors open for viewing but not all of it. Most rooms were darkened for preservation but the White Sea Room (last available room on the second floor) was our favorite as it was so much more inviting. Since the tour deadends on each floor, one has to backtrack the same way to exit. Next time we're in town we'll go to Drottingham and compare palaces.

There are also some good views of houses of Södermalm. You won't find this on many lists of things you should do in Stockholm and it's a little off the beaten path, but it's definitely worth seeing. I highly recommend stopping here while in Stockholm.
