I've never had a facial before. In fact, I don't much like paying someone to poke and prod at me, and then not be entirely sure what they've done with my money. But, I was invited to come here for a facial treatment (they've just opened, see) and well, it might have just changed my thoughts on this whole poking and prodding thing. After all, it was good enough for Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe.
I was greeted by Katie (and a very welcome cup of tea, it's cold out) and then had all the different treatments explained to me. I'd had an allergic reaction to something a few days before, and they made sure I had a nice relaxing treatment instead of a super powerful exfoliating one.
But facials are strange. I have to undress (the top half at least, but I didn't know this, and I was wearing a dress). Being blasted in the face with steam feels quite claustrophobic, and the hand massage was super fun - I got to wear silly moisturising mittens which made me giggle, because I realised I was lying half naked under a towel wearing oven gloves. Fun.
Erno Laszlo is actually beautiful (and underneath L'Artisan Perfumerie which is worth a look and a sniff as well), and despite feeling uneasy around all the pretty-making, I had a great time. I was hopefully that my face would suddenly look radiant, but alas, two weeks of 12 hour days was getting in the way of that. Until the next day, when my skin magically changed and I looked healthy and glowing. It changed like magic. And all of a sudden, I'm impressed.
I'm also impressed with their prices. The lotions and potions you can buy are very expensive. They're £40 each. I have some, which I haven't tried so until I do this review is staying on four stars. But I've been assured that they last for ages. But the facial I had was £45, which actually seems reasonable.
If you like your lotions and stuff, you'll really like it here. I took a bit of convincing, but I'd love to go back. My skin is all lovely now. Yay. I'm fairly certain that I could just have a weekly facial here and still carry on working too much and staying out all night... read more
