Customer service and knowledge needs to improve. I went in knowing exactly what I needed being tires and rims. Gave employee size information, lug nut ratios, year, make & model. Had me wait an hour for them to finish lunch. Just so I can go back in to get them to see what was taking so long. About a month ago my car started over heating and I didn't know who to go to because I'm not from the Elmhurst area. I ended up going to Ernie because his shop was within 5 minutes of where my car was and he was awesome! He was able to get my car in and started the diagnostics immediately. He also helped me arrange car rental for the day and after I was put on hold with the car rental business he personally apologized that they were taking so long and he drove me over to the car rental himself. Very nice guy and funny. Ernie gave me a call that night and let me know that the issue was electrical with my fans not turning on and he gave me a few options. Ernie's is an amazing place to take your car! I have a used Acura that needed new some brake work done so I took it to the Acura dealership and got an estimate of $1900 for new rotors and pads...along with them trying to upsell me on things I didn't need in the slightest. They also charged me $140 just to look at it. I took it to ernies and ended up getting all that done for less than half what the Acura service dealership quoted me at. Granite I'm sure they weren't OEM parts but for a used car in which I paid 5grand for I'm not about to drop another 2 for pads and rotors. I think Ernie's is the place to go to for minor repairs or maintenance like oil changes, but don't go there for muffler repairs and especially not to get your tires done. For my muffler repair, they wanted to charge me $75-100, and I took it elsewhere and they charged me $50 for the same exact service. I called to get quotes from several different places for my tires, and Ernie's came in at the lowest price so I went with them. I've had to take my car back two times because my steering wheel shakes at higher speeds, and both times they said nothing is wrong. Obviously, something is wrong, but they don't care enough to fix it. I should have gone to a reputable tire shop. My next move will be to go to one and have them find the solution and pay out of pocket for the bad job from Ernie's. It's unfortunate, but definitely a lesson learned! Pay the extra $$ and go to place you can rely on that specializes in tires. ---- UPDATE ---- I recently took my car to Discount Tire so that they could do a full tire inspection and diagnose why my steering wheel was shaking. They ended up rebalancing all four tires and when I took the car back out onto the highway, the shaking was gone. Ernie followed up with me regarding the tire issue and I let him know that I had to go a Tire Shop and they were able to fix the problem and he offered to cover the bill. It doesn't change the fact that this was a stressful and time-consuming process to get my car driving normal again BUT, I do appreciate that he apologized and covered the repair. read more

I have been to this place twice. I work down the street and honestly if I lived closer I would make this my regular shop. I had a problem with my tire. I was able to come in on my lunch and they had my tire repaired within 20 minutes. The owner was so nice and friendly. They seem pretty honest as well which is not easy to come by.
