Jeff painted the exterior of our cabin on Whidbey Island this past summer. He did a wonderful job! Fantastic communication, extremely attentive to the smallest detail, matched the color we were looking for perfectly and got the job done quickly and beyond our expectations. Pricing was very fair. It is difficult to find painters on Whidbey Island in the summer. I happened upon Jeff as he was painting our neighbors house down the street. He managed to not only work our place in, but started working almost immediately. I could not recommend Erickson's Painting higher. Buyer Beware! For those of you that might think the negative reviews too long, which is why I keep mine shorter in hopes of fair warning. Please proceed with caution. Once we had agreed on a price from Jeff, who works alone, all of a sudden, he was asking us to hire his ex wife to do the caulking side of our project at an hourly rate. He said she was working on getting her contractors license and could really use the work. We were not comfortable with his proposal, and told him that our contract was with him, and if he felt he needed help, he could hire her himself ( which he didn't). After reading about the other person's experience, it almost seems like some sort of scam they pull on people. I urge you to do your homework before hiring any painter. We hired Jeff after receiving his number from a person helping us with other projects, only to find out later that she is apparently no longer referring him and didn't hire him for her own personal job(this came straight from Jeff, believe it or not). Bottom line, don't let him fool you, he is a con Edit-for the record, this painter walked out on our job and didn't even have the guts to tell us. His supplier was nice enough to replace the paint he had incorrectly matched. They couldn't believe he refused to bring a painted sample in( we literally begged him tor that he wasn't familiar with Husky Door. Basically said, just because he has 30 years experience, doesn't make him a good painter! I am happy to share my experience in more detail if you message me. Don't, just don't go with this painter! We had some red flags, but moved forward with him anyway, only to have him walk out on our job after we questioned the color match we asked for. I won't bore you with all the details as there are just too many. But we are now paying to have our doors fixed by someone else after he botched the paint job on them leaving us with no doors and a freezing house. He is totally unprofessional. His exact words to me" I'm a painter, not a color guy". His work was sloppy, so I can't even give him credit for being a painter! read more

If anyone reads my reviews this man is scared because I told the truth. The problems with Jeff started when he NEVER TOLD ME there would be an additional charge to do one of the walls. It had been painted about 10 years earlier without any problems or surprise additional costs. He talked me into using scaffolding but would've cost me over $10K. He'd told me that using the boom would never be approved by the neighbors. AFTER I signed allowing the scaffolding did he reveal the main reason he wanted the scaffolding was because it was easier for him yet would STILL NEED APPROVAL FROM THE NEIGHBORS! He misled me to believe the boom was more expensive then seemingly accidentally said that it would cost less. The cost of it was about $2K instead of over $10K. In general, the additional cost of using it was completely unexpected! This is where our problems began. Yet before this he talked badly about my neighbors as if they were the problem not him. I sensed Jeff wasn't being honest but I was now in the middle of him painting my townhouse so I just went along with him. He lied that my tenants were disappointed that I wanted to wait to paint my townhouse for another year because the house I'm living in needed to be done ASAP. Wanting to be a good landlord, I decided to do this for them only to find out they never told him that. After discovering from my neighbor that Jeff lied to me about completing my townhouse therefore he already got paid, I was further upset. I told him he lied to me which turned into some irrational argument causing me to be late to a Mariners game. I said he lied, not generally calling him a liar. He was irrational. I feared the possibility of him not finishing my townhouse so I did my best to calm him down instead of just hanging up. Out of some consideration to me due to the UNEXPECTED additional cost of the boom lift (I got him to cancel the scaffolding), he offered to hang the new outdoor lights due to the old ones dripping white paint. My tenants said HE could come by whenever. I had the light fixture in my possession and as a landlord I'm not allowed to just stop by their house. No matter how often I told this to Jeff, he argued with demands and excuses. I'll find someone else to do it, pay them - anything is better than one more argument with Jeff! He's irrational with me. When asking him to follow through on this offer, as usual he got belligerent. As far as his mom dying and her house burning down, I had a friend whose house burned down during that same California group of fires; I was at my mom's bedside watching her die. I NEVER WAS CRUEL TO ANYONE. He apologized to me off and on while wasting my time dealing with his personality. Then he'd abuse me again. Twenty days after his "apology" (the second one of the same nature and reason) he wrote me that horrible email I posted in an earlier review. His ex wife told me he's a narcissist. This time I didn't respond to him except to post what he wrote to the people on Yelp to prove the way he has chosen to deal with me. Regarding his family, he told me they do yard work. I told him all I had was a weeding fork, nothing else. Jeff didn't listen so without my knowledge he came by with his family to do the work. He told me his son gets $20/hour. Then they said they have no tools!!? He's pushy, told me how they came all this way so I agreed to buy ONE TOOL, then as a fool I gave him a $20 tip since he picked it up at the local hardware store, and too be kind. Then his ex wife demanded $25/hour!! I was tired of arguing, had I known everything I'd come to know about these people I'd have told them to leave, instead I gave both her and his son the extra $5/hour. Luckily they weren't there long. I was anything but rude, I was extremely accommodating - his entire family took advantage. I finally stood up for myself stronger and he got meaner. I FEARED writing any of these reviews because Jeff is so unbalanced. After writing his response to my review, I heard a noise regarding email from Yelp. Not long afterwards I got ANOTHER SCATHING crazy email from Jeff attacking me verbally. I needed to sleep. Yelp needs to read these emails, decide who's telling the truth. I fear for my houses, and even my life now that Jeff has read the reviews. It was reading the strongly negative review from the other Yelp person who inspired me to stand up for myself regarding Jeff's unstable behavior as a painter towards a client. I wanted to save anyone I could from dealing with him. Will he cause me further harm is of great concern now. His vial crazy remarks, especially waking me up with the email sounds has been disturbing enough. read more

Our contractor recommended Erickson painting after smoke from a small dryer fire left our house smoke filled and uninhabitable. Our contractor had to open up every wall to remove insulation so literally every wall in our house needed to be repainted. Erickson's painting was used to smoke seal the framework as well as paint all of her interior walls. Our house is over 2600 ft.² with accent walls on every room of the house. Jeff's attention to detail and painting made our house feel very welcome and when we were able to move back in. We can't thank him enough for his professionalism. I think we're going to see he will be available to paint our house in Eastern Washington as well. read more

We've used Jeff from Erickson Painting on several different jobs over the past three or four years. He painted some interior walls on a townhouse for us before we were moving, and we hired him again to do some exterior painting on our new house, which turned out really fabulous. Then we asked him to do trim painting throughout the interior, which was incredibly detailed and painstaking work, and he completed it fast and accurately. He also had us look it over once it was done and then came back after a week to touch up any spots that we noticed needed another coat, at no extra charge. Jeff was honest about time, cost, and materials, and we've been really happy every time we've used Erickson Painting. Jeff just finished painting the exterior of our home...6/21/2019. He did a wonderful job as usual and was very easy to work with. He made sure we were happy with everything he did for us. We hired him 5 yrs ago for another larger house we owned at the time and were very pleased so we went with him again and he did not disappoint. We have recommended him to friends and they were also very happy with his work. He works alone and takes pride in his work.
