I asked around everywhere online, FB Mom's groups. I guess it's not common here like it is in LA. Anyways, had a quick chat on Yelp with the salon and booked an appointment for a blow out and makeup for my outdoor maternity photo shoot. Michele did both my hair and makeup for me. She was excellent. She needed little direction from me at all. She knew exactly what I wanted and executed perfectly. She's great! I was impressed. I will definitely return. As a newbie to the area, I didn't know but if you come here on a Saturday be prepared to park far away at City Hall and walk over. Not a big deal unless you're 8 months pregnant and hot! I told her I wanted volume at the crown, but still needed a style that would hold all night long--and wow, did she deliver. My hair stayed perfectly in place for 12+ hours, with lightweight hairspray that didn't feel stiff and a secure yet gentle hold using bobby pins. Alena's approach was kind, open, and collaborative, and her execution was perfection. I truly felt beautiful and comfortable the entire night. Mercedes, who did our makeup, was equally amazing. She matched our references exactly--giving my daughter a fresh, natural glow, and giving me a smoky glam look with a subtle shadow wing that was elegant and dramatic without being overdone.
