I tried to visit the thrift shop on Tuesday around 1:00 PM since their schedule says they are open…read moreon Tuesdays at 10. Either there is a super secret entrance that I didn't find or the just were not open. Kind of disappointing to drive all the way from Cordes Lakes to Prescott and find them closed. Plenty of folks lined up along the walkway not sure if they were all there because they expected it to be open. Some had their belongings with them which caused me to speculate that they likely are experiencing homelessness. I do hope they are getting the services they need from both Salvation Army and the City of Prescott. Not sure I'd bother to make the trip again despite my desire to support this organization.

Just an update about one of the programs offered by The Salvation Army in Prescott, AZ. The winter…read morewarmup program usually begins in early November. The program provides a safe and warm place for homeless men. A meal is also provided for men and women. After the meal, the women are transported to other shelters. However, the bathrooms and showers provided for the clients have been shut down since June. The culprit is a mold issue. That's 5 months. Here it is Oct. 3rd and still the issue has not been fully resolved. A house can be built in 5 months! That's a chilling example(yes, that's a pun) of how poorly management runs the operation. The washing machine and dryer are key to the successful operation of the program. The are also unavailable due to the existing mold problem. Will the program start on time? Good question. There is space for 30-35 clients that will end up being left out in the cold if they don't. I would recommend you contact the office at 928-778-0150. Thank you

It was sad to see the other recent negative reviews and I wasn't able to feel the exact same way…read moreuntil I just went. I used to enjoy coming here to shop--what happened? The cashier (taller guy, long hair--receipt says Corey/Cotey?) was very unfriendly in his tone throughout the checkout process and at the very end proceeds to ask, "what's in that?" Accusing me of stealing items, and justified his Q by saying, "it happens." It was a lunch box with snacks for my son as we shopped. I wouldn't have given much thought to either of these interactions on their own, but because the whole experience was negative, I feel the need to share it. It was also strange when I went last Friday at 10 am and the doors were closed. Phone went straight to static. A lot of people walked up to locked doors and were confused as to why there wasn't a sign stating they were closed. A woman told me that she had a lot of valuables to donate and will be going elsewhere. Sad! I hope someone will see these reviews and actually make changes, rather than just respond to the review itself. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back to shop or donate anytime soon. I will continue going to St. Vincent de Paul, where I've had nothing but a great experience and interacted with only kind employees/volunteers.

For one, the store is a mess now: can't find any thing of use without wandering around forever--and getting any help? Forget it! The staff there now is either too busy on their phones, or arguing with each other--or maybe it was another customer. Not really sure, but I finally just left without buying anything. But I really liked the work they were doing to save our local furry friends from misery or worse! Too bad they let this place go down the tubes. Get her back!! At whatever the cost!!!

This store was once a great store. All coats used to be $8-$10. Now, the cashier Aaron who does…read morethe pricing thinks they have some sort of boutique, where poor people are priced out of buying a warm coat. I went on half price clothing day. I found a nice coat upstairs, where the junkier clothes are, these are the ones that are half off. There was no price on it, just like everything else upstairs, no prices on anything. So, I checked the wall, where they have a price list. The list on the wall said, COATS $10. So, it's half off day, $5. I take my find to the counter, Aaron says, "$20." I said, no, that came from upstairs, it says $10, so it's $5 today. He says no, people remove the tags, and I make the prices and it is supposed to be $20. I said I am not psychic, that's why I read what the price was, I only have the $5 bill, so I was going to go ahead and buy it anyway for $10, on my card, until Aaron said "It's called reading, you should try it". I said I did read, the sign says $10, it should be $5 for half off day. He made another jab about me "reading" and I said Nevermind, and left without the coat. Aaron is rude. Preferred customers get better prices. They get this stuff as free donations. They can't even go by the posted price list if Aaron's at the counter, the price will be whatever he feels he should inflate it to. This store is not good. Donate to the other DAV, on Gurley, they are very nice, and prices are way better.
