They also have sentara EVMS comprehensive sickle cell program which delivers multidisciplinary care our friend Taylor treatment plans that address the diverse and interconnected challenges face by sickle cell patients. I have only brought a couple people over here for different services and I had services done for cancer treatment. I was truly satisfied with my service. The building is beautiful the parking is terrible, sometimes you have to pay sometimes you don't sometimes you can get close parking sometimes you can't. This is a busy facility plus you have a children's hospital here you have a heart hospital and I think a sex change hospital here. PETA is JUST ABOUT across the street. It's near Ghent. Lots of great restaurants nearby.

It took over a week for them to send a referral (after I'd called FOUR times). Now the dr they've referred me to needs two weeks to "review" my file before they can even schedule me. I'll be out of meds by then, but that seems to be of no concern to anyone but me. The doctors care about their patients. No one else there does. I'm currently looking for a new doctor, not because I dislike the doctor I have, but because of how poorly every other aspect of the practice is handled. I would NEVER recommend EVMS to anyone. Ever.

I was warmly greeted by the 2 ladies at the front desk. They have the front area nicely decorated for summer. When I see happy decor it always puts a smile on my face. The waiting room was very nice also. I had a very short wait until I was called back for the preliminary stuff. The nurse, whose name I forgot, was amazing. We had a good conversation and shared a few laughs. This also helped keep me calm before the dreaded exam. Next I was called to De. Pascioni's office. She was so warm and cheerful. She took her time and explained different things with me and wrote info down for me. The exam was so quick and thorough that I didn't even feel like anything took place. Everyone acted as though we had been friends for year, with a professional side of course. If I could give them a 10 I would.

She's smart, kind, patient, great listener, compassionate, professional, knowledgeable, respectful, gentle, empathetic, honest, sweet...I can go on and on! She is really (sincerely) interested in your/my health concerns, feelings/emotions, and wants to truly know how you feel. Dr. Harris-Proctor does not rush the appointment. She takes her time to discuss matters with you. It seems that she does not want her patients to leave her office confused or with unanswered questions. I love her!!!! I wasn't excited about coming to the dr (but, again who is?!). I've been needing to find new doctors and found Dr. Harris-Proctor online during an internet search. I thought about the qualities that I need and want in a dr and she matched them all! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Harris-Proctor and her nurse (Nurse Dianne)!! They are fabulous! Quick review of the office (building, parking, reception area, exam rooms, reception desk, and corridors): it's clean, smells fresh, and very comfortable. Tons of parking. Staff are friendly and kind. The ultrasound nurse (Amy) was/is so sweet and gentle (as much as she can be). I wanted to give 4.5 but I don't know how. Why?? Well, there is a bit of a waiting time and that is because of the time they take to care for each patient. So, please don't be in a rush. Bring a book or be the first patient.

However, the week of her first appointment, I received a text stating there wouldn't be a provider in that day. I called to reschedule, which pushed the appointment out an extra month. The day of her appointment, the assistant couldn't read the doctor's writing of what lab work needed done. Dr. Saffold was currently with another patient, so she told us she'd send an email after speaking with him. That afterward we can go to any Sentara location to have it completed. This added additional driving, paperwork, and time for us. Later that day, I picked up her RX and didn't understand the directions on the label because they were worded wrong. It took several days for someone to get back with us. The week of her follow-up appointment, we received another text stating a provider wouldn't be in and her appointment would need to be rescheduled AGAIN. No one EVER answers the phone. Every single time I have called, I have had to leave a message and play phone-tag with them to speak to an actual person. It has been well over 3 weeks and I have still yet to get my daughter's follow-up scheduled. She is out of the medication that was prescribed. Our pharmacy has reached out to the office and the refill has been ignored. Grateful I never canceled the CHKD appointment because we will not be going back. My daughter is autistic and the experiences we've had with this office have been added stress that is unnecessary. I have worked for doctors and am experienced in healthcare. The lack of follow-through and carelessness from this office is embarrassing.

This might be one of the worst medical experiences I have ever had. I called 2 weeks ago to…read moreschedule an appointment based on a referral from another physician. During that phone call, I explained why I was coming. After rearranging my schedule to be there, I ended up sitting in the waiting room for 45 minutes before being brought back by a nurse. She explained to me that the doctor wouldn't be seeing me today because he doesn't perform a certain procedure. She was rude and short. This was prior to a thorough history being taken or an examination being performed. It appears that the office was making an assumption on my diagnosis and needed procedure before understanding why I was even there. I have worked in health care for over 20 years and have 10 years of direct clinical experience treating patients myself. In my opinion, this is not good medicine, good business, or the right way to treat people. Complaint to the board to follow.
