Office is professionally run. Dr. Colton is patient and responsive. He invites questions. Karla, his assistant, is great.

I've never written a negative review before, but my experience with Dr. Sungurlu was so upsetting,…read moreI feel obligated to warn others -- especially first-time moms. This was my very first ultrasound, a moment I had dreamed about. Instead, it turned into one of the most heartbreaking, cold, and confusing experiences I've ever had with a medical professional. Dr. Sungurlu was shockingly rude and dismissive from the moment she walked in. No warmth, no introduction, no effort to make me feel seen or safe. She barely acknowledged me, rushed through everything, and made zero effort to explain what was happening. Her attitude made it very clear she had no intention of continuing care with me -- though she never said it outright. She simply walked out of the room mid-appointment, without a single word of goodbye or any indication that the visit was over. My partner and I were left sitting there in silence, confused and hurt. We had to track down a nurse just to ask for the ultrasound photos -- something that should have been handed to us with care, not treated like an afterthought. I left that appointment in tears. What should have been one of the most joyful days of early pregnancy felt like a cold rejection. No one deserves to feel that way during such a vulnerable and important time. I don't know what kind of day she was having -- but if you can't show basic human decency to someone carrying life for the first time, you should not be in prenatal care. Do better.

Almost immediately after each appointment I'd leave crying because she'd scream at me telling me I would kill my baby. Once there was even an assistant with her. My sugars were often within the limit but a bit on the higher end. I spoke to a few friends who were nurses and a PA who worked with women with high risk pregnancies. They were shocked and furious when I told them about the care of been receiving. They looked at my sugar logs and said they looked fine. All my other appointments for high risk pregnancies outside her care went well. She was born at 6lbs and is healthy.

I do not recommend this office if you have complex or ongoing health issues…read more I first requested a referral to a specialist for endometriosis on June 12, 2025. After multiple follow-ups (including confirming UCSF as my choice on July 30, 2025) the referral was still never sent. Even my case manager called in, and she was told there was "no record" of my request -- despite multiple emails in their own system proving otherwise. When I had a severe endo flare (10/10 pain), I wasn't offered meaningful support. Instead, I was told that if I couldn't take ibuprofen, I couldn't take Toradol -- as if that was the extent of care I deserved. At one point, I felt staff assumed I was just seeking pain meds when all I wanted was to be heard, supported, and properly referred. This office gave my case manager the runaround for three weeks, and I was left untreated, dismissed, and in worse health. For patients with real, complex conditions like endometriosis, POTS, and overlapping chronic illness, the lack of compassion and follow-through is unacceptable. If you want to be seen, heard, and taken seriously, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for care.

I am currently in the middle of my fourth pregnancy. My last pregnancy was 12 years ago. In the…read morepast, I went through a regular OBGYN doctor, however this time decided to start out care with a midwife. There were some concerns at my 20 week anatomy scan and it was recommended that I be referred to an OBGYN. I reached out to this practice on 3/31/23. The receptionist was pleasant at first and said she would need to have the doctor look over my medical records before they would agree to accept a transfer of care. I spoke to them again Monday 4/3/23 and this time spoke to a woman named Carol. She said that based off my records (?) it sounded like I was looking for a consultation and that they do not accept consultations, they only accept medical transfers. I told her that I was agreeing to transfer my medical care. Her exact words were, "Well, it's not that easy." and she said she would call me back tomorrow, 4/4/23 after she spoke to the person in charge of transfers. Since I didn't hear back on 4/4/23, I called back around mid-afternoon to request a status update. Carol answered the phone and said, "Oh, yea, we are not accepting transfers." I asked for clarification on weather they are not accepting new patients at all or just not accepting transfers. She would not answer my question and for some reason became very rude and condescending towards me at this point. I then asked if it would be possible to speak to the person in charge of transfers. She said something along the lines of "I'm not going to discuss this with you, find another OBGYN" and literally HUNG UP ON ME. I don't know this woman Carol personally, but the fact that she would treat any patient like this speaks volumes. The part I can't specify is weather it speaks volumes to the practice itself or to her as a person. After further reviewing their website, I realized that Carol is Dr. Spalding's wife. To choose to be condescending and literally hang up on someone who is only trying to seek out healthcare for their unborn child is not okay. For someone in an already vulnerable state, a little empathy would have went a long way. Dr. Spalding's biography states they have 4 children and she sounds like an incredible mother herself. I am saddened that she would think it's okay to treat an expecting mother this way. I looked over their website thoroughly before I reached out them. The impression I received from their website was that this was a compassionate and sincere doctors office who prides itself on quality of care. Literally the only thing I was looking for was what is best for my unborn baby. This pregnancy has already been an emotional roller coaster for me and the medical complications are not making it any easier. If this is the way this office treats their patients, then I guess maybe their website of testimonials is just a facade because the treatment I recieved from Dr. Spalding's wife literally left me in tears.

I'm becoming more and more frustrated with this office. Made an appointment in February of 2024 for an annual Pap smear etc... understandably they were making appointments several months out (mine was in August). August comes around and it gets cancelled rescheduled for September, no big deal. September comes around and it gets cancelled *again*. Rescheduled for October- cancelled. Rescheduled again to November....cancelled. I am now scheduled for TWO appointments in December because they can't do IUD removal/replacement during annuals (huh?!). Also the office staff seem completely unbothered by having to reschedule you. I have also repeatedly told them my IUD expires in December and again there's no real emotional response from the scheduling. I don't know why they say they're accepting new patients if they have to keep rescheduling appointments 3+ times. I don't know what is going on but it's incredibly frustrating. If they cancel again (which who wants to bet that they do?) I'm just going to go to Planned Parenthood or my GP.

It is very important to find a good OBGYN that is trustworthy, easily accessible and caring. For about one year, I've been seeing Dr. Colton in this office, and he checks all the boxes. He's attentive, listens to my concerns and addresses them in a professional manner. He is understanding and explains all medical procedures patiently. The office staff has always been very welcoming, friendly and nice to me, and the parking validation with a large parking structure next door is an added bonus. I trust the people in this office, and find all rooms and the waiting area to be clean, modern and calming.
