Something to look out for downtown [Louisville KY]…read more While walking down East Main Street in Louisville we noticed a set of bronze bat and a home plate on the sidewalk. On the home plate is the name of an inducted Hall of Fame baseball player... these are honoring the game's greatest hitters. Then we noticed many more as we were walking the downtown streets. We started to look for them and found some 20 model bats used by that athlete and a plaque made to look like a home plate detailing the highlights of their careers. When we visited the Louisville Slugger Museum we kept our eyes open for these displays starting from right outside the museum. You can find them just strolling the surrounding downtown's museum to a mile out. There were some 60 of them line Main Street. Unfortunately we didn't finish the whole walk but it was fun finding them. We didn't go far enough to find Joe DiMaggio at Louisville Slugger Field on First Street. Just wished we had more time walking...it was a great way to spend some time learning about baseball history and enjoying beautiful downtown Louisville on a Labor Day weekend! Review #3896

As we were walking, we noticed there were more and more things to view on the sidewalk. We then came across a sign that informed us of this walk of fame. Since we walked several blocks here, we then made it a point to stop and view each item and read everything. It was a quiet afternoon and cold so it made our sightseeing really enjoyable. I am not sure how far down the street it goes but we definitely saw a good amount of plaques and tidbits of information during our walk. It is definitely worth taking time to look through.

The entire waterfront botanical gardens is a cool and free place to visit. They have a few little sculptures but nothing quite like this awesome one. Of a little girl playing or chasing a bird through the gardens. It perfectly captures the innocence and fun of a child in surroundings such as a botanical garden. Overall very cool piece. For a large metro city Lousiville does not have to o many sculptures or statues. So all our welcome especially ones as cool and well made as This one. Fun photo op that my girls loved.

An Indiana native, living in Nashville, TN - but Louisville has won a piece of my heart…read more After spending several different weekends here (some with my partner and some with close girlfriends) I can confidently say Louisville is one of the most enjoyable, well-rounded cities to visit. It strikes a rare balance of warmth, culture, food, history, and fun without ever feeling overwhelming. Food & Sweet Treats: Louisville absolutely delivers. Bourbon balls from Muth's Chocolates and Art Eatables are a must (try both if you can). Coffee and dessert lovers will be happy at Please & Thank You (the butterscotch latte is a standout, plus incredible cookies and bars), Quills Coffee, and browsing local vendors at Logan Street Market and Falls City Market. From iconic meals like The Hot Brown at the Brown Hotel (worth repeating!) to memorable dinners at Doc Crow's, Seviche, Mayan Café, Hammerheads, and Agave & Rye, the food scene feels both comforting and elevated. Brunch spots like Le Moo, Biscuit Belly, and Wild Eggs made mornings feel like events. Bars, Speakeasies & Nightlife: Louisville excels at cozy, creative nightlife. Favorites included Hell or High Water, Black Rabbit, Meta, High Horse, Back Door Bar (pool!), Number 15 (90s night was unexpectedly fun), and The Chill Bar. Distilleries & Culture: A bourbon tour at Evan Williams and a visit to Angel's Envy were highlights, but the city's history shines just as much through the Frazier History Museum, 21c Museum Hotel, Cave Hill Cemetery, and Churchill Downs. Add in Waverly Hills, and you get a fascinating blend of beauty, history, and intrigue. Outdoors & Activities: Walking the Big Four Bridge, exploring the Louisville River Walk, visiting the Falls of the Ohio, and venturing to Bernheim Arboretum made the city feel grounded in nature. Neighborhoods like NuLu and The Highlands add charm, art, and personality. Overall: Louisville feels soulful, welcoming, and deeply interesting. Whether you're there for food, bourbon, history, nightlife, or a relaxed weekend exploring, it offers far more than expected and keeps pulling you back. Five stars, easily. I'll be back. Have a hard time driving through without stopping somewhere!

We visited this time the week before Christmas 2025 and were fortunate to catch it on a day when temperatures allowed us to linger more to take in all of the scenes. We typically park down the street and walk to see it since it's on a dead end street and is best seen as a pedestrian. (As an appreciative observer, please be respectful of the neighbors' yards when parking, walking, and noise level. I'm sure they are understanding, but it's important to be thoughtful as a guest.) A few days after our visit, we happened to see a news story on Spectrum about the display regarding the Kids' Cancer Alliance and Brian H.
