Float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. The mural consist of a pair of boxing gloves with its angel halo (I assume created shortly after ali passing) and the left wing being a butterfly wing and the right wing being a bee wing. Very cool and unique. While the mural never mentions Ali name or the phrase or is obvious what the message is by the creative use of symbolism. Overall a great piece and while it's not very large and kinda hard to spot on the side of a building it may be one of my new favorite pieces because of the creativity.

TikTok really has opened my eyes to hidden treasures everywhere. I'm sure that I'm not the only one…read morethat feels this way. When you doom scroll, you come across many different places that are true hidden gems. Door To Nowhere, or Heigold House, is definitely an oddity and salute to the past. Some housekeeping, you know, things to know about this place. BE CAREFUL. This sits on a roundabout island with steady traffic. Be mindful to the traffic flow and businesses nearby (I parked at a nearby business off the road and walked over here). Be kind to the natural beauty that surrounds this. And most of all, be respectful. As I said, this sits on a roundabout with flowerbeds surrounding it. Whether you are facing front, as in looking at the front of the façade, or looking from the rear, please stay on the sidewalks provided. Take in the informational plaques as well. Built by Christian H Heigold, a successful stonecutter. Majority of the house was completed in 1853. Heigold was a master at stonecutting and completed the home with busts of Presidents George Washington and James Buchanan. Heigold was also a staunch opponent of the 'Know Nothing Party,' and anti-immigration political party and I would like to think that he built his house with all the busts was a big middle finger to those that were anti-immigration. This façade sat in what was known as the The Point neighborhood, which was favored by those that moved to the city from the New Orleans area. Once Louisville diverted the Beargrass Creek away from downtown, this place started to flood annually. Shifting people away from the neighborhood and then the Great Flood of 1937 happened. Slowly the city started buying houses and demolishing them. Ultimately using the land as a dump site. Then this façade was listed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Remained in that area which became Thruston Park. That is until a developer bought the land adjacent to this and build condos. They moved this massive beast, 70,000-pounds, across River Road to where it sits today.

The six scenes are: the hookah smoking caterpillar; Alice holding her cat, with the Cheshire Cat in the background; the Queen of Hearts' frog servants; the Queen of Hearts; the Mad Hatter; and the White Rabbit. Nulu is stocked full of awesome and beautiful public art works. Thai Alice and wonderland rendering has added to that. So detailed, specific and well done. Everytime I walk by it I notice a detail that I haven't before. Overall a beautiful and wonderfully done piece of public art. I can see it becoming a favorite of many inside the city.

A bunch of twisted piping that at the beginning of it says the words "Louisville". I'm not sure the purpose or what it represents and after the words Lousiville it's kinda a mess and hard to determine what the design is. Overall it's still a unique piece to the city and kinda cool. In a weird spot so I'm not sure how much exposure it gets as the one way street people usually have merged on the expressway before hitting the underpass.

Intended to draw more visitors to this part of Louisville, this orange colored artwork is a series of tubes and lines. Literally, a knot that stretches about 165 feet. Located right next door to the patio lr a popular Mexican food eatery in that portion of town this mural gets lots of photos and serves as a backdrop for fun times and memories for others. Overall pretty basic but very well done and fun public art mural. Murals or art with anything wings (butterfly, angel, bird) always make for fun photo ups of standing in between the wings and pretending they are yours. Me and my family spotted this mural by pure coincidence when driving around the Shelby park area and one of my daughter said "is that Patrick from spongebob". So naturally we had to pull over and take some photos. Overall very cool piece that will be enormously popular with the youth and probably even the millennials he grew up on the popular show spongebob. I know my kids loved it. I came across this mural in New Albany, Indiana. It's painted on the side of a large brick…read morebuilding, and the first thing that jumps out is the huge flowing figure of a woman with long copper colored hair. She almost looks like she's part of the wind her hair and dress swirl across the wall like music moving through the air. Around her are oversized lilies and bright stars, which makes the whole scene feel a little dreamy and theatrical. At the center behind her is a circular design with the words "New Albany Opera House 1866." That detail makes the mural feel like a tribute to the city's artistic past. The woman looks like she's singing or performing, reaching upward as if she's hitting a big final note. It ties the flowers, the stars, and the flowing shapes together into something that feels like music turned into color.

This building has been updated and converted into a space that houses multiple small businesses. You can't miss this mural as you're driving down Pearl Street in downtown New Albany. I saw it and had to get out of my car to take a photo and marvel at its Art Deco magnificence! The woman painted in the mural is definitely giving "The Lady of Shalott" vibes, and she looks like she's falling backward on a bed of flowers and butterflies, with stars coming out of her mouth. It makes me think of Tennyson's poem and also the Bjork song "Sun in My Mouth." Except homegirl has stars in her mouth. Carrie Johns, an artist from southern Indiana, is the person behind this wonderful piece of public art. If you are in the area, you should definitely check out this mural yourself.

Not sure why it is called the weird as it features a few bites and things. Maybe a play off an old Louisvilel saying that I believe originated form a highlands business that said "keep Louisville weird". Overall a great piece and very fun piece that makes for a great photo op. I was able to pull out a good old fashioned dad joke when I told my oldest daughter to go stand by the words over there and be weird. So score one cringe dad point for this guy.

Of all of the murals in Lexington, this one was the most controversial. It's located on the outside…read moreof one of the outside walls of the an old warehouse in the distillery district. That "old" warehouse is now home of several the James Pepper Distillery District businesses. Specifically the building that is the home of Fusion Brewery and Battle Axes. When it was first painted, back in 2015 there were only two businesses open in the entire district. And as cool as the area is now, I know that this bad ass mural was part of that growth, for the good. So why was it so controversial? You know those kind of people who like to complain about everything, yeah those are who made it controversial. Although it's a self portrait of sorts, in the mural, he's spelling "Mo" with his hands. NOT a gang sign. I'm serious, people were saying that it was going to cause gang related behavior, and encourage graffiti. Now, I wonder what all those naysayers say about it after how far the district has come along in just a few short years. It's literally one of the most booming areas in Lexington.
