If you are looking for a place to go that makes you feel like you might actually have a white Christmas in Florida this year, this is it! We went there to get our tree 2 years ago and were warmly greeted by the nicest Acapulco native named Franco who is the farm owner's right hand man. He helped us pick an amazing tree, cleaned it up, packed it up, and nestled it into our trunk securely. We chatted for a bit about family and where we were from, etc., and when we went back this year, he still remembered us immediately! We missed out last year because we couldn't remember the name or exact location of the farm, and had to make do without, but were so excited to have found it again this year! We got to meet the owner Tony this time around as well. Super nice guy that was just so inviting that we felt right at home. These guys give you the time of day and it translates into our feeling even better about our fantastic find of a tree. Both times we chose to go with Firs that had come down from NC. They were super fresh, and smelled sooo good! Beautiful fantastic trees were abundant, and it really smelled like Christmas... still does :) But you can cut down your own tree from their farm, or have them do it for you as well! You won't go wrong with these guys... They also have U-PICK strawberries and blueberries and the next crop is due to be ready in mid-January. I'm just sad I'll be back in SoCal for school by then. We saw Ergle Christmas Tree Farm on a news segment. They said you could go there and cut down your own tree. After seeing this on the news my husband decided to be adventurous, and off we went. It was about an hours drive to get there from our home. When we arrived we had to search people out to answer any questions we had about cutting your own tree. We didn't find the staff to be particularly helpful. When we walked out to the area where you could cut your own tree down we weren't impressed with the type of Christmas Trees that were grown there. They were more like landscaping trees than Christmas Trees. They also sold Douglas Firs from North Carolina. While they looked beautiful and they had a large assortment, were pricy! Being we didn't cut down our own tree, we decided to leave. We purchased our tree near home which was more convenient. read more

For more than 26 years the Ergle Christmas Tree Farm has been open for business. They offer a variety of fresh trees, wreaths and Christmas cacti. You can either cut your own, buy one that is potted or purchase a pre-cut (or if you are rich and have a big house, do all three). The first thing a person notices when they arrive at the Ergle Farm is the field of trees that are neatly lined up to the left of the property. Most of these trees, at least where I was standing, came up to my waist. They were the perfect size for my one year old daughter and her friends. It was neat to walk through all of these trees and use them to take Christmas card pictures (the family encourages you to come by with your camera to capture the memories you are making). After shooting some photos in the fresh tree section we walked around to the back of the house to check out the Ergle Christmas farm "train" that is supposed to run all weekend long. The train is really a tractor that has been decked out to look like a train. It seemed like a really cool part of the experience. Unfortunately, on the day we visited, the train was out of order so we didn't get a chance to ride on it. Behind the train parking there are a number of booths set up to sell refreshments. That way if you want to take your time in choosing a tree, no problem, they've got you covered food and drink wise. Also back there is the farm's gigantic selection of precut trees. The Ergle Christmas Tree Farm seems like is a lovely place to go to snap some Christmas tree pictures. As far as the trees and wreaths they offer, it is probably worth the long drive from Tampa if you want to cut your own or buy one that is potted. I haven't seen many of those being sold on the Tampa streets. If you are purchasing a pre-cut one, you can probably find comparable ones right in Tampa. read more

When we first moved to Hernando County, we purchased our Christmas tree from Home Depot and ended up having to undecorate it and put up a 2nd tree because the 1st one died within one week of purchase. We know how to pick out trees, so this caught us completely off guard. I mean, how can a tree pass all the "fresh" tests and then die in less than a week? The next year we purchased one from a random tent, and that one was just a bit better. The following year we found out about Ergles, and we've purchased our trees there for the last 20 years or so. As far as the prices go, yeah, they are more expensive, but I sure as heck would prefer to pay a few more bucks for a great tree that lasts a month than the crap that gets sold elsewhere! This review is so hard for me to write. I have so many mixed feelings. My family and I have been going to Ergle Tree Farm for the last seven years. We have have always enjoyed the experience of going through the farm and and selecting a tree. We tend to get the trees that are 10 feet and higher so we always have to pick from the greenhouse area. Last year (2018) the trees were slim picking. They didn't have many of the taller trees and the ones they had were dying and too overpriced. We ended up leaving and finding a tree at a random tent in a grocery parking lot. So this year (2019) we decided to go back to Ergle. We went right after Thanksgiving and were sure we would find a nice tree since it was early in the season. Well, to our surprise the trees this year were actually smaller and the prices were way higher. My family and I were completely taken back! One of the trees was about 10 feet high and had a serious lean and was tied to a pole at the top of the greenhouse in order to keep it up. Keep in mind this tree was also in a tree stand so the need for it to be tied up proved there was some issues with it. Well we checked the price and they wanted $380 for the tree. In previous years a tree of this size at, the same farm would only be about $250. For the second year in a row we ended up leaving the farm with no tree. I still gave a high rating because the experience is by far the best in town. There is a train that families can ride through the farm. The farm is kept in pristine condition. The staff is sweet and kind. They are helpful and go above and beyond to try and assist you in getting the perfect tree for your home. As a photographer, I enjoy taking photos of my family as we walk through the beautiful farm. I am sure we will be back next year, if not for a tree simply for the experience. read more

Went there last night 1st time ever recommended by our daughter.Now I understand the weekend was busy but hardly any trees put up but there were a ton still wrapped??Then I asked a worker where I could find Fraser firs and he said I'm sorry I don't know just started today.WTH then every tag had listing of trees but nothing was checked what they were ! We were not happy at all!!! And the price for the crappy trees still standing were outrageous!!! read more

The staff seemed very nice. They told us where we could find saws to go cut down a tree and pointed us in the right direction. But we were not prepared for how prickly the trees would be. My friends and I found a 9ft tree and worked to cut it down but it hurt pretty bad and we ended up having rashes all over our hands and arms. There were great photo opportunities but if you are going to actually cut down a tree I would recommend wearing long sleeves and bringing gloves. We also got into quite a few sand spurs so just be heads up when walking around. read more

Really surprised by the great reviews of this place. We just moved from Ohio and always cut our own trees up there. We were looking forward to continuing the tradition and it didn't work out at this place. They didn't have hardly any trees left to cut down, which is fine, because they had pre-cut trees that they had shipped in from up North, which was fine - we didn't mind, but then this place boasted a train and there was no train and an animal petting area. There were some animals behind a locked fence but nobody would let us in so my 6 year old had to stick her arm through the fence to try and pet anything. Very disappointed and won't go back. We drove 55 miles for nothing. Could have bought a pre-cut tree 1 mile from our house. read more

We have been going here for the past 4 Christmas'. Every year it's gotten worse and this was the last straw this year. NO selection and I messaged them asking if they got a truck load and no response and it says they respond within a few hours. So please don't waste your time. read more

I am sad to say this is not the place it once was when I was a kid. It used to be acres and acres of trees you could drive through to choose and cut your own. There were several types of trees and they were beautiful in size and shape. I'm not sure what happened or why the location changed, but this is not the tree farm it used to be. There is a very small selection of tiny trees to choose from, and only two varieties. The nice trees are shipped in already cut and are set up in a tent. I will say the staff is friendly, and we were greeted right away and given instructions. Sadly, we won't be making the trip back here next year though. read more

Don't waste your day! It was cool to cut down our own tree but if you want to hit the snack bar, GOOD LUCK! We waited over a half an hour for one bag of kettle corn and were second in line. We ordered hot dogs, paid for them and then were told we could have the dogs but they had no buns. If you do go to get a tree expect to wait at least an hour to have it shaken and "bagged". Other than the tree cutting there isn't much to do there. The website mentioned a petting zoo but we were told it wasn't set up yet and were there late in the afternoon. The older staff were very friendly but the younger staff could care less. read more

My family and I had a great experience at Ergle Christmas Tree Farm yesterday. Cutting down the Christmas tree was a great family experience. The people who work at the farm are really helpful and nice. The kids LOVED the train and the animals. Yes we had to wait in a line to have our tree bagged but what do you expect the weekend after Thanksgiving. Everyone there young and old was working really hard and as fast as they could. Great experience. I think we will make it a family tradition. read more

This place was truly disappointing. For years I have cut fresh trees for Christmas so we trucked to Dade City from St. Petersburg having moved here from upnorth recently. The staff barely spike English and were not helpful at all. We were pointed to a direction and told the trees are over there. This was the smallest, weakest tree selection I have ever seen! Ok for Charlie Brown Christmas but not worth the 60 mile trip. We left without a tree. Not once did the staff offer to help and the place was dead. So it wasn't because they were busy. Save your gas. Don't expect a festive experience to add to the memories. read more
